Thank you so much for your content I find it so soothing to hear. I was studying with an elder in my congregation and had to cut him off since I started to do heavy research and studied carefully if all things he was teaching were true. Things he told me didn’t make sense or harmonize with the Bible and felt confusing causing me great despair since I love and respect Jehovah and my lord Jesus Christ. I felt shame and guilt to question what I thought was Gods organization. Since then I feel great relief to study on my own and put my faith to action in my everyday life. I do my best to follow the example left to us by our lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for all you do.

So simple a child can follow it: "LOVE". For God Is Love!
Some like to muddy up the waters of various simple teachings such as love its self. they do this for the purpose of being the only one who can explain the solution there complicated teaching, when in reality they become the sole guardian of teaching, forcing all to grovel at there feet to fully to fully understand the meaning of the teaching, thus positioning themselves into a superior teaching position, especially as this relates to the dynamics of the group the person typically associates with on a regular basis!

I really appreciated the point you made about Jesus raising the bar on keeping the commandments. One could overwork his servants 6 days but let them rest the 7th. Your point that this would fulfill the letter of the law but not the spirit of the law was nicely made. I took away the importance of following Jesus’ teaching and always fulfill the commandments with love of God and our neighbor in mind.

In minute 8:50 when referring to Matthew 5:22, verify the NWT 2022 on the online library (Internet version), Matthew 5:22 has an "Overview of Matthew" which explains the word "despicable fool" as:
"You despicable fool: The Greek word for this expression sounded like a Hebrew term meaning “rebellious” or “mutinous.” It designates a person as morally worthless and an *apostate* . To *address* a fellow man in *this* *way* was tantamount to saying that he should receive a punishment fit for a rebel against God, that is, *everlasting* *destruction* ."

For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Jesus was the sabbath. If you notice too that in genesis every day ended with, and the evening and the morning was the first day..but at the creation of the seventh day there was no and the evening and the morning was the seventh day.....he left it open as if it was eternally forward, not just a mere day but more, eternal life. I kept the sabbath for about 10 or more years until I actually read it all for myself, but something that really conveced me was Paul never mentioned it as an obligation, the apostle to the gentiles never chastised or warn anyone over breaking the sabbath, he warned about every sin..adultery, false witnesses, idolatry, stealing, coveting...but not once did he warn the gentiles over sabbath breaking...when I noticed that I realized I had Bern taught wrong...thank you for another great video.

This question is somewhat irrelevant to the Sabbath but still related to something brought up in the video.
When Jesus cured disabled men of their disability, he used his saliva to do so. I know this will be considered eisegetical, but could it be argued that Jesus performed a blood transfusion-like procedure when he healed these men?
I've read that some ancient cultures considered blood and saliva to be brothers or that it's a sacred fluid. I've likewise read that saliva contains white blood cells that fight infection. Or that it also contains electrolytes that are found in blood plasma. Not to mention the claim I've heard all my life that dogs can heal cuts/wounds simply by licking them.
I've read some online sources which argue that Jesus' purpose was to make a point about doing good deeds on the Sabbath. But still I wonder why he specifically used saliva in a miraculous act of healing muteness and blindness.
I'm not sure if there's scriptural evidence stating that spit has healing properties or that it contains life similar to blood. I just think that the verses below could be used to argue against the prohibition of blood transfusion as saliva probably can be viewed like blood, and Jesus is portrayed as transfusing this fluid into another.
Jesus took him aside from the crowd, by himself, and put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting, he touched his tongue with the saliva (Mk 7 : 33 NASB).
Taking the blind man by the hand, he brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?" (Mk 8 : 23 NASB).
When he had said this, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes (Jn 9 : 6 NASB).

    • @BeroeanPickets
      @BeroeanPickets  ปีที่แล้ว

@bombastoid -- Jesus could have cured a man with a touch or even at a distance as he had done on previous occasions. Some speculate that the odd procedure of mixing his saliva with mud and putting it on the eyelids of the blind man was a test for the onlookers, for what he did amounted to work to them as the healing took place on the Sabbath day. Jesus was making a point of testing the hearts of those who observed this miracle.

    • @bombastoid

      @@BeroeanPickets Thanks for your reply.
I see what you mean and agree with you.
Allow me to engage in a little more eisegesis. I'm no expert in the anatomy of the human eye and ear, nor of the Bible. But I've always viewed these healings different from some of the other healings that Jesus performed because they seemed to involve an extra step.
When Jesus healed demoniacs, a paralytic, etc., he used prayer, touch or verbal command. I have always interpreted these "easy" or automatic healings as not requiring physical labor or Jesus' handiwork. The conditions the demoniacs and paralytics have seem the cause of injury or minor defect.
However, when he healed this deafmute and this blind man, he seemed to exercise his creative power. It's almost as if these healings required Jesus to get his hands dirty, so to speak, due to a lack in the men's physical bodies, like being born without eardrums and retinas which Jesus had to fashion out of spit and mud. I haven't checked the passages, but there also seems to be an absence of prayer and verbal command in these healings.
It makes me wonder if there's varying degrees of astonishment in some miracles, including the one involving the guard whose ear Peter chopped off. Would the healing seem less miraculous had Jesus spat on the dirt and crafted a completely new ear for him? Reattaching the mutilated ear instead of conjuring a new one from nothing, while miraculous, still seems less of a miracle.

There is no statement saying that those who do not observe the sabbath will not inherit the kingdom. In my own personal understanding of Creation Day 7, God blessed it and made it holy because of His 6 day prior work of Creation. In Hebrew the word Sabbath (Hebrew- Shabbat) means "to rest". The word holy in Hebrew means "set aside or apart" or "not usual, uncommon".
In my understanding the 7th day was created for rest from work, including home life duties, which all distract us from God. A day not common as the previous 6, it's set aside to be different and duty-free so that, not only can we devote that whole time to God and family and self, but it rejuvenates our bodies, hearts and minds.
I don't see that Commandment as a law to go to church one day out of the week with other people and listen to "man" preach or teach God's Word. Jesus told us when we are His true followers, the Holy Spirit will give us all understanding of Scripture, not man, especially all who are self-ordained/man-ordained with a man signed certificate, many of which you can get online! In the first chapter of his gospel, John is giving an historical account, so naturally everything will be in the past tense. However, it would require eisegetical thinking to draw the conclusion from that account alone that because he doesn't speak in the future tense, nothing said there can apply to us. For instance, he wrote: "by means of him WAS life, and the life WAS the light of all men." (vs. 4) Is life no longer possible? Has the light of the Word of God gone out?
Verse 11-13 tells us: "He came to his own home, but his own people did not accept him. However, to all who did receive him, he gave authority to become God’s children, because they were exercising faith in his name. And they were born, not from blood or from a fleshly will or from man’s will, but from God.” (John 1:11-13)
In that context, John 1:12 means that his own people, the Jews, received the authority to become God's children. If we apply your reasoning without looking for overall scriptural harmony (another facet of exegesis) we must conclude that only natural Jews of that time could become God's children and become born again.
Yet a simple word search on "children of God" will show multiple references to the term being applied to gentiles who only came to know Jesus through the preaching of the early Christians after our Lord had ascended.

Peace to those present! I draw your attention to the author's statement that the difference between the law carved in stone and many other prescriptions approved by the Jews exists only in the imagination of some people. And also to the statement that none of the biblical authors ever made such a distinction.
Of course, this is an incorrect statement, below is a link to biblical authors who make these distinctions:
*"Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.*
*So, has good become deadly to me? No way"* - _Romans 7: 12, 13._
We understand that what is considered holy, righteous and good in the eyes of God cannot cease to be so. In order to save everyone from hesitation on this score, Paul further himself says that the commandment to be righteous has not ceased.
And in contrast, with regard to other prescriptions that can and do lose their significance and have already lost:
*"Saying "new", he showed the oldness of the first; and that which decays and grows old is close to destruction"* - _Hebrews 8: 13._
    --------------------------------------------------
That is, the difference was voiced by the apostles and prophets before them. And if someone says that the ten commandments have been canceled, then let him indicate which ones? Or let him hasten to prove that love can permit in some cases adultery, and in others greed...
But someone will say - you are inattentive, because here we are talking about the fourth commandment about the Sabbath and it has been canceled and we have love. No - not cancelled. The Sabbath remains even now, for the children of God, every day is now the Sabbath, as it is included in the Sabbath, which the apostle writes about and which the author quotes in this video.
    -------------------------------------------------
Of course, those who observe today the allocated day - Saturday, do not understand its meaning, but even more mistaken is the one who preaches the abolition of the law, which, among other things, is also a guideline that helps to determine - what is this glorious love for the neighbor and his Creator, which is given such a sacred meaning to some, especially dreamers.
If there had been "naked love", then the apostle would not have had to repeat to the congregations a thousand times what it is, listing the same commandments:
*"Love consists in that we act according to His commandments. This is the commandment that you heard from the beginning, to act on it"* - _2 John 1: 6._ This is the denominator of the above.
And if you understand _2 John 1: 6,_ as it is popular to understand that when it says *"we acted according to the commandments"* we are talking about the commandments only of love, then how would this text sound? *"Love is that we act in love ..."?* - perhaps simplified to the point of incomprehension ) Of course, we are talking not only about abstract love, but also about its tangible manifestation.
You can, of course, conduct an endless debate on this subject, but you must admit that what is relevant has not been canceled. If the circumcision is irrelevant - yes, it is cancelled. If "honor your parents" is relevant, it has not been cancelled.
And of course, the leitmotif - the right disposition of the spirit, which is love - has not been canceled, no one denies that we need to fulfill the commandment guided precisely by love for God and neighbor, and not dryly according to the letter of the law without spiritual participation. But this was actually required at all times and in the pre-Christian era as well. Tell me, friends, why, then, did the Creator carve the law on stone? And then, that he remains carved in stone today ...

Brethren, may reason be with us!

One thing that you have failed to clarify in your comment is exactly how you believe Christians today are to keep the Sabbath? I ask because perhaps we are not so far apart on the subject as you might think.

    • @preterist
      @preterist ปีที่แล้ว

@@BeroeanPickets , Thanks for the clarifying question.
How should Christians celebrate the Sabbath? For Christians today, the Sabbath is the Sabbath, in simple words - each of our days is the Sabbath, to the glory of the Father:
*"So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God"* - _Hebrews 4:9 (New American Standard Bible)_ The word translated as Sabbath in this scripture is: *"G4520: σαββατισμός"*
That is, the fourth commandment is also not abolished, but expanded.

    • @preterist
      @preterist ปีที่แล้ว

@@BeroeanPickets , Perhaps your question is that the fourth commandment meant that it was traditional not to work on the Sabbath?
But was the purpose of the fourth commandment really to forbid earning a living? Obviously not, because although in the _book of Exodus, chapter 20_ a commentary is given on the fourth commandment about refraining from mortal deeds, an explanatory comment is also given - on what this abstinence is based:
*"for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it"* - _Exodus 20: 11._
For although it is said that the Lord rested on the seventh day, at the same time it is said that He still thrives:
*"Jesus said to them: My Father is working until now, and I am working"* - _from John 5: 17._
That is, we see that the sin of violating the Sabbath did not consist in labor on this day, but had as its goal the consecration of peace from the vanity of perishable things and meditation on incorruptible deeds.
And if so, why were the Sabbath instructions given to Israel?
For the reason that Israel on this day was freed from labor not for the sake of liberation from labor, but for the sake of attending sacred assemblies, reading scriptures and other things in this vein.
And the fact that Jacob reduced the Sabbath day exclusively to the ritual side of the issue, Christ drew attention to this:
*"He said to them: Which of you, having one sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, does not take it and pull it out?
How much better is a man than a sheep! So, you can do good on the Sabbath"* - _Matthew 12: 11, 12._
Let us note here that the words that good deeds can be done on the Sabbath were uttered at a time when the observance of *"the whole law"* was not questioned by anyone.
      --------------------------------
So, Saturday remains, but we - modern Israel, do not need to limit our work schedule, since we are already in constant peace from selfish motives.
In principle, if Israel itself was old - understood correctly the essence of the fourth commandment, then its observance in that distant pre-Christian era would have looked different. And we would not have to be imbued with contradictions that originate not in the law itself, which, according to the apostle, is perfect, but rather in its irrational interpretation.
      ----------------------------
I really hope that I was able to convey the main idea: if Israel showed an imbalance in keeping the Sabbath, this does not mean that we need to show an imbalance in not keeping it. Thank you.

Thank you Eric, for all you do! Love you man! You have a lot of good information! As you should be able to see below, there is error in some of your understanding...sin is the transgrssion of Yahweh's Covenant law, not the old book of the law, but the new Covenant law. Which is why John over emphasis, if you love Yahweh, you will keep his commandments...
You are so wrong, in fact God Almighty Yahweh's law is the very definition of what sin is. For sin is the transgrssion of the law. To keep Yahweh 's law is to walk in Covenant with him., and in Covenant fidelity...while honoring Yahweh, the one we are supposed to be married to...
We are no longer under the Book of the Law, the Hagar relationship. We now have the opportunity to enter into Covenant, "Sarah", type relationship. Of Which Covenant includes the relationship spelled out in Exodus 19:5 to 24:11 and also from Gen 1:1 to Exodus 24:11. The same Covenant relationship as our father Abraham, who kept all of Yahweh's Covenant laws, which are not the Levitical laws, or more specifically the Aaron's laws.
When the Israelites broke the marriage Covenant with Yahweh, by making a golden calf, Yahweh was going to kill them all, and start over with Moses. So, we see, the israelites broke Yahweh's marriage Covenant, the ten 10 commandments within 40 days of receiving the Covenant...Yahweh was going to kill all israelites and start over with Moses, but Moses stood in the gap. At that point the israelites entered into the Hagar bond woman relationship, to save their lives, until Shiloh would come or the Messiah's reformation, which essentially frees us to enter into a Covenant relationship, "Sarah", type relationship again, which of course had Yahweh's commandments as it did before, restoring us to Covenant relationship with Yahweh, as it should have been, and was before the golden calf worship...
Actually, it's so simple, Paul calls it the simplicity in Christ.

      @BeroeanPickets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I have provided bible backing in this video series for my dismissal of a literal 24-hour creative day. Since that isn't sufficient, perhaps this addition bible backing will help:
If you are going to take each day as a literal 24 hour day then you need to take this “day” in the following scripture as 24 hours too, in which the 6 days are summed up as ONE day.
“This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the DAY that the LORD God made them.” Genesis 2:4.
If God wanted us to understand that he was speaking about literal 24- hour creative days, then so as to avoid confusion among his children, he would have stated the following:
“This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the WEEK that the LORD God made them.”
But he didn’t say that. A way for us to avoid being deceived, even by our own preconceptions, is to check out the Interlinear before drawing any conclusions.
If you look for the meaning of the word day in Hebrew, it is Yom and does NOT only mean a 24-hour period. Notice all the meanings it can have in Strong’s Concordance, on Biblehub.com.
      Strong's Concordance
      yom: day
      Original Word: יוֹם
      Part of Speech: Noun Masculine
      Transliteration: yom

      a prim. root
      Definition

So the use of “day” in Genesis is a decision made by the particular translator of the Bible who will naturally carry his own doctrinal bias into his translation. If you accept that the Sabbath when God rested was a literal 24-hour day, then that means that God’s rest ended well over 6,000 years ago! Doesn’t it?
It also means that there is no basis for Jesus to declare himself Lord of the Sabbath since that makes him the Lord of only one day out of SEVEN. Additionally, when God invites us to enter his Sabbath rest, we would be entering only a resting day of ONE 24-hour day out of seven. This doesn’t sound like much of a paradise to me.
But on top of all this, the burden of proof lies with those demanding we accept each creative day as a literal 24-hour time period. I see no one providing that proof! All depend on a literal acceptance of one meaning for the word "day" disregarding not only that the original word in Hebrew had dozens of meanings, but also that even in English it does not only refer to a 24-hour time period.
