  • Today we will check out all of the features and equipment on the 2021 Ducati Monster 1200S. Then, we'll get it out on the road and see how it rides. Possibly being the end of trellis-framed Monsters as well as coming equipped with a single-sided swing arm and an L-Twin motor. This motorcycle truly could end up being the end of an era for Ducati. If you enjoy the video be sure to like and subscribe. Leave a comment with any questions or opinions on how I can improve my videos. Thank you!

    This was a nice video to watch! The monster looks super fun. I had a 959 panigale that I loved but it was to uncomfortable to ride around for long periods. I’m looking at the 1200s as a replacement that I could ride more often.

    Sounds like Owen Wilson riding this bike. "Wow." "Wow!" "Wow?!" "Wow." "Wow!"

    I had a 2014 Monster 1200s that had a steering damper. I thought the bike felt a little heavy on the steering. Then I traded it in for a 2021 Monster 1200s. It felt a lot lighter on the steering, however it does not have a damper. When I'm on the highway, I feel the steering is a little squiggly. It sure does need a steering damper.

    I own the same bike and I really love it. A Termi system is a most on that bike! Then it screams 😈😁

     @JonesBrosGarage Even more exotic is the Monster 1200 R. It's the one I have, in Ducati Red, and I love it, and will probably never let go of it. It's more nimble, more flickable, and agile than the S; more lean angle at 50°. It has 160 hp; 97 lb-ft. With Termi and fuel map, it's 165/100 and the most beautiful Italian accent especially with the db killers out. That downshift sound you were talking about, is just glorious.

      "And the most beautiful Italian accent..." A golden line right there ;

    Ducati seems to have favored the StreetFighter as their top hyper naked, and tamed down the Monster relative to this 1200S

    I have the same exact bike and cant find any videos on it. Is it rare? If what you are saying about the trellis is true does that mean its going to be worth some money down the line?

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume it’s pretty rare. Especially the S variant, seeing as the V2 street fighter entered in the same price bracket. As for being worth money, maybe in the very distant future. I don’t assume it will be any time soon though, all Ducatis are technically somewhat rare. This one is most likely a lot less common than most of the other modern models, however people say the 2007 Monster S4RS is very rare as well. You can find that bike for $10-12k USD currently.

      Which did you end up going with?

    How do the quick shift work???

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It just retards the motor for a second when you click up so you don’t have to let off the gas at all or use a clutch to shift. On downshifts you don’t need a clutch and it automatically does perfect rev matches down.

    What feels faster in the streets, this or the v2?

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. They’re honestly so close that it probably just comes down to the rider. I was a little faster than my brother on the twisty roads (me on V2 him on this monster 1200s). But I could never lose him and when we switched bikes it was even closer. On the highway we would pull together until about 125 before the V2 really starts to pull away a little, and pulls away a lot at 140+. Basically I’d say it just depends on the rider. I prefer and feel more stable on the V2 but my brother prefers the monster. I would assume if he was on a street fighter V2 instead or had a steering damper we’d be dead even.

    • @mikaelsanchez7258
      @mikaelsanchez7258 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonesBrosGarage gotcha. Yea makes sense that after higher speeds the v2 will start to pull away, considering the less wind resistance. I ask because I have a monster 1200s and I’ve considered switching to a v2 but fear it not being a big difference

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikaelsanchez7258 ahh that makes sense why you asked! I personally felt the V2 was more “brutal” especially at higher rpms. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a HUGE upgrade over this bike power wise, but I definitely felt a little more aggression from the V2. I also personally think most people will find the V2 to handle much better. The suspension is about equal to the 1200S (both leagues above the standard monster 1200), the brakes are actually identical, however I found the V2 to feel much more stable and the added damper was a nice feature. I think the better of a rider you are the faster you’ll feel on the V2. For example, I think a motogp rider would place a decently faster time around a circuit on the V2 than the 1200s. But since me and my brother and I’m assuming you also aren’t anywhere near that skilled, it really just comes down to what you feel more confident on. Either way I don’t think it’s a waste of time to get a V2 especially if you haven’t owned a supersport style motorcycle in awhile or ever because it’s cool to try out different types of bikes!

      @@JonesBrosGarage thanks for the detailed response man, I appreciate it. I was really considering the v2 for a while but the heat was really one of those things that was holding me back. In addition to the fact that I live in a densely packed city and don’t get much opportunity to really wind the bike up to its limits.

    How can you go out and ride without side mirror? Here in Australia the time you come out of your house without mirror, proper tail tidy or anything illegal here police will be stop you right away. Maybe only in america 🤷🏻‍♂️

      I have never ever had a cop here in the states stop me for nit pic crap like that. Once I put a Hurst shifter in my Chevelle and I got stopped because I didn't hook up the reverse light switch so it stayed on. I told the cop and just said "Okay get it fixed as soon as you can Bye"

    Tighten up on the wheelie control and take it up to 150mph - I did on mine. I was aiming for 170mp,but not enough Highway, lol. Turn DWC on…the front end will be glued to the road
