Historic For The Strength of Youth Conference Held in Dubai

- Two hundred youth from across the Middle East and North Africa recently gathered for the first For the Strength of Youth conference in the region. The three-day event was held January 25-29, 2023, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Similar conferences are held throughout the world to help young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and get to know others their age.
"It's a program that has been created to help the youth, not only to gain confidence in themselves, but be able to work well with others, to be able to be resourceful in life, to make choices, to make the right choices in life, and to be able to be great leaders of the future," said FSY counselor Phindile Mkhize.
Youth aged 14-18 came from countries throughout the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, and Iraq. The theme of the event was "Trust in the Lord" and the youth attended classes and workshops on topics like friendship and Christ-like attributes.

I was able to attend that FSY and it was such an amazing experience! I really enjoyed all the things we did and learned. I will never forget this wonderful event.

I am 60 years old but "I remember when, in the period between 1978 and 1980, I would attend these Youth Events. It was during this time that I got to be more open and willing to make friends after a very turbulent youth. I was led to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March of 1978 and nothing has ever been the same since then. I remember how exciting it was to go away from the small town where I lived and grew up and to to a big city like Johannesburg. I also remember meeting President Kimball and shaking his hand in 1978 when he came to spend some time with us. I would strongly encourage all youth to participate. It is like altering for the better. I bear witness of that.

That is what the adversary will do to fight truth. The fact that the Church is mocked and called things such as a "cult" is proof that the Church is true. Jesus said that those who follow him will be persecuted.

I felt that I’ve been forgotten , I’ve been working in dubai for 11 years haven’t found the church nor the activities for the member, I was baptized by elder hold Feb 2001 . Now I don’t know who I can call to who I can find who I can rely on in dubai . Lost lost lost and lots of things happened mostly bad and I swear it’s hard to breath right now loosing my faith every day . I just felt that I wanna believe that’s it’s not true
