A 15-foot-high bronze statue of the Prophet Joseph Smith was unveiled on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the World Peace Dome in Pune, India. The statue of the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joins the statues of 54 other religious leaders, scientists and philosophers that adorn the 263-foot-high dome at the MIT World Peace University.

This unveiling reminds me of the words from the hymn Praise to the Man - "Millions shall know Brother Joseph again." What a blessing to witness the gospel continuing to reach across the globe.

This is so beautiful! It’s the first instance I have heard of someone not of our faith honoring Joseph Smith in this way and in an intent to foster inter-religious harmony! It made me cry that they would include us in such a way!

Before people start freaking out about “shrines”, understand the church did not commission this, and was made independently of the church. We simply respect that Brother Joseph was recognized as a founder of world religion in a respectable way
This could be a good way for people in India to be exposed to the Gospel and investigate the church.

I love people of India, they are good and loving. 20 years back I work in part of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and visited some place in Karnataka. Im a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter day Saints. I invite my Indian friends to come and visit the churches near you and accept the invitation from the missionaries to visit your home and learn the goapel of Jesus Christ.

This brings to my mind the song "We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet" Which appropriately only has two lines in the three verses that speaks of the prophet. The rest of the song is on Christ and His gospel.

We've been called to serve in the India Bengaluru mission and we couldn't be more thrilled about this event! The perceptions that government and civic leaders hold for our church as peace loving, of holding the same values of marriage and family, is important and significant. We are hoping it will mean more missionaries will be allowed to enter India. Currently we are waiting for Visas along with two other couples. I just sense India is ready to blossom like South America and Africa in the past. It's an exciting time to be called as missionaries to India!!

I once told a guy I was "Mormon boy", don't talk to me (down South), years ago. Amazing to see the Lord's hand and/or work in action. Not that anything bad came of it, of course! A glance can tend to say a lot...
We tend to hear of all the evil in this world.
Yet, I continue to pray and do believe that the goodness of God exists in all lands and people.
This is such a beautiful example of how we have common bonds.

I recently met an older couple who lived in India for five years. The husband had served as a mission President there. Their stories of the sacrifices of the Indian Saints were inspiring.

This deff sheds a different light on India! I wish all of the Indian people were like these people. All I ever hear of is scammers and call center scams all over India scamming Americans I never liked India because of this and I never trusted this country! I am glad there are some good people there though. God bless the good souls who are trying to change India!

They already had a statue of Christ, and while Joseph Smith isn't an object of our worship, it is only thanks to him that we know what we worship today.

I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. He was an instrument by God to bring forth another testament of Jesus Christ which is The Book of Mormon. By reading this book you will get closer to the living God.
