Alex I just stumbled across your channel, Binge watched the Musician house, that brought tears to my eyes so many times. I want to commend you on how respectful you, your wife, family and all your helpers were. That was someone’s life turned tragic for what ever reason, you were so gracious and kind while dealing with the hoard. Cant wait to watch more.
@@samaritaDeath thanks, that how I found this channel. Watch 1 episode and I was hooked, havent seen the whole series of the potters house, going back and watch it in order.
Agreeable grey is very popular. I have friends that have used it. The “ pink” actually leans peach.... it a neutral. He needs to paint the samples on several walls, it will look different in different light.
@@TiaraPoodles It's not only grey and not only colors on the wall, but natural colors in general and materials like wooden floors, a combination of different materials like wood and stone and different fabrics, the Belgian open floor plan and a general serene feel which doesn't exclude muted colors. But yeah a couple of months ago I read colors are coming back. And...I am not a grey fashionista, in case you were ad hominem pointing at me
Really think about the size of your back deck and the outdoor entertainment your family and friends would enjoy. I say this because after a few years of living in the new house, my son in law had to tear up the deck and rebuild a much larger one . As the kids grew into teens/young adults still at home, they needed that extra room for at home/outside fun, especially now in light of covid. it became the most used space for all kinds of entertaining. Just a thought you might want to keep in mind. I am enjoying all of your videos. Best of luck, Dottie from Boston. Ma. USA.
On Alexander's new house I would have the deck extend out further and go all the way across the back of the house and stop at the edge of the garage so the dining area and kitchen look out onto a huge deck.
Alexander, quite often the big mistake turns out to be the biggest of blessings. I LOVE the new colour and I bet it will be stunning with your new kitchen and fireplace!
@@iamgabriel5823 I hope with all the lighting throughout the kitchen/dining area that there are dimmers for the family to appreciate. First thing I do in a new place is set the lighting - brilliant all the time is uncomfortable ......dimmer switches and or dials are great.
Love, how you're standing outside in the Canadian winter, with no shawl and your shirt collar open 😅 I had my walls painted a similar shade of 'rosy white' in my turn of the century flat in Berlin for years, btw. Looked lovely, once the room was furnished and decorated. You almost didn't notice the tint against the much brighter/more saturated colors of everything else, but the rooms had a lovely, warm and inviting aura. Don't diss it, until you tried it 😉
I had the same thought, especially after seeing how the light shined on it through the windows in the Christmas room. White is so cold, you can't do anything with it, but add a touch of color and it accents everything just enough to warm it up inside.
Rara Avis....it's not always -25 in Canada in winter. Especially in Alberta where Alex is. It can be -40 one day and then a weather anomaly we call a " chinook" can roll in and the next day it can be + 10. I'm in BC and most of the winter here hovers around -3 to +5.
I just picked up the paint for the sewing room, a very light pinky white. So light that you can only see the pink if you hold up something true white against it. I will be painting the rest of the house an even lighter version. Having said that, the color I see on your walls is more of a flesh color as you mentioned. Not attractive to me.
My house sold to the first person who viewed it ...the inside and outside was a very light pink ..the new owners said it felt so welcoming and cosy ...
As a past owner of a high-end painting company, I cringe when I see videos and hear stories like this . As much as possible, I always recommend a colour consultation in situ with a professional designer to avoid costly repaints and client frustration. Always remember when choosing a white, the paint will often have 1 of 3 possible pale undertone tints...blue, red or yellow.
We have the knockdown on our walls too....and yes, I'm in California. Unfortunately, since our house was built in the late 1980's we have the cottage cheese ceilings in most of the rooms, except the bathrooms and kitchen. It used to be in our den too, but we had a minor water leak and the company that did the repair work, took the cottage cheese off. At some point we'll try to remove that ourselves in the other rooms, but it doesn't bother us for now. The knockdown we have is quite a common, subtle pattern, similar to yours. I even found a company that sells a metal template for when patchwork needs to be done, which I've needed to do when we added a larger light switch and you can't tell where I patched the wall with the template....you just use spackle and a putty knife and it comes out looking great! (I got it on amazon)........P.S. glossy red means fingerprints will show a lot....just something to keep in mind.
Not enough wall space for your cabinets? Have them build you a rolling island workbench to match... industrial casters, matching cabinet doors/drawers and counter top. It would look great and can be moved out of the way when not needed.
Alex if I could suggest putting all your pot lights on dimmer switches. You won’t regret it! I love the option of mood lighting especially in the dark mornings of winter. No blinding light first thing when you wake up.
I grew up surrounded by Amish farms and the warm glow the candles gave the home at dinner time into the early evening was spectacular. As an adult, I have always had the dimmers on every possible light switch in my home to set that mood I have always admired "as home" with soft lighting. Kacey and Audrianna, I thought as soon as I saw all those cans shining like Vegas, oh no install dimmers!
It's really hard to read under tones in the whites . Always get the sample paint and put it on a scrap piece of drywall before you put it on the walls. Then check it in all different kinds of light. It saves a lot of hassle and money. painter's tip of the day. The house is going to be beautiful 😊
Alexander, don’t stress it. It’s always great to get the perfect product the first time but a home is never static. Things can and will change in an organic way as time passes. I love the way you seem to be enjoying the process!
Back in the 60's my parents were building their house and chose "Sunset Grey" for the exterior color from a group of paint examples at the store. It turned out to be quite pink. They were unable to return the paint & couldn't afford to buy different paint so for decades we lived in a pink house. It was a running family joke which everyone took in stride.
Same with my Mom. Paint color chip looked off white, was called Warm Sand, but was light pink. So house exterior was pink until she sold the house. Also a family joke.
My friends house was hot pink. Why? Because the family had argue about which colour to paint it in... and the dad got pissed off and just grabbed 3 big buckets and then processed to paint the house.
This was such a fun video to watch. The openness of the house makes it seem so big, especially with all the windows looking out to the woods. Very nice.
Pegboard could go on the wall where the outlets are, my cousin did that for his shop and it looks marvelous! Also, love the red! Maybe not the high gloss, but a semi gloss would look fantastic :)
For those considering painting any room, you really must paint a large area in that room to see if it is what you want in the end. At least 2 foot square. Paint chips will not give you enough information. And do not let a contractor get your paint. Get it yourself and check that it was mixed properly. Paint stores can mix the paint wrong. If the contractor picks it up they will not check it. They will apply it. And then you'll have to pay for more paint and more labor.
I have been a painter for 20 years, and in Minnesota the contractor would not charge extra for that mistake...the paint store prolly would not charge the contractor for the replacement paint either, since it was there mistake, the contractor would do the labor to fix it for free also, because it was his mistake too...i always do a sample and get it approved by the homeowner before starting...avoids any confusion....that is a huge rookie mistake and an embarrassment to the trade...I would hate to be a painter in Seattle where it rained everyday...
This! I was in an apartment for ten years that had an ugly yellow cast to it with the natural light. I hated it. I helped the owner repaint before I left. This time, it looked pink in the lighting and against the carpet! Yuck. We finally found the perfect white that went into the bathrooms. The rest stayed the pinkish white. I think the owner didn't care because she planned to get a divorce and move in next.
Agreeable Grey! YES!! That's the color we are putting into our new house! It can look grey in blue tones. or it can look tan with warm tones, depending on drapes, lighting, carpet color and so on next to it. Very versatile. My son has it in their house already. You will love it! And thanks for the tip on "California knockdown" ceiling finish, I will ask our builder about that. We are about to break ground on our new house here in north Alabama.
Choosing a colour and viewing it when there is snow on the ground is going to be a whole different experience from when the out doors is mostly greenery. Pale shades are not just what they are but also absorb colour too. And the lighting will affect things a lot too. Personally I would not enjoy a grey home, but my (male) children love it. Colour is always relative to what other colours are used as well, so furniture and curtain colours affect the final look.
I'm so excited for you and your family! I can tell how much you're looking forward to moving in and starting the rest of your lives in this beautiful home. Congrats!!
Catching up on missed videos and just watched the “Pink House.” Very glad you caught it and I love the grey paint. I definitely love the texture on the ceiling. My old house has a ‘50s version of texture that had to be incorporated with repaired walls. The California technique was used on all the walls and blended very well.
With all the windows and natural light pouring in, I think you will love the grey. The red for the garage cabinetry will be fantastic, bright, cheerful, crisp and it will mesh beautifully with your art and the cars.
So much progress on the interior and exterior. The grey is a great choice, it will take on different tones in rooms, depending on the amount of light.❤️❤️👍Love your sharing your future home❤️
In a garage, the color choices don't matter so much as how it cleans up over time. Love the Heritage Blue siding. Goes well with the classic style of the house. Although it's hard to tell since I'm not standing there, the pink does not look overly pronounced on the camera.
Love the Agreeable Grey! Can't wait to see your new home once all the work is completed. As for the cabinets in the garage, I too like the red, just seems like the right color choice.
I love the grey paint. My house is done in the light grey and accent walls in the darker grey. It feels so cozy and welcoming. The outside of my house was beige but I could see the pink under tones and sure enough the sun baked it long enough I now have a pink exterior home. Please put a beautiful mantle on that fire place. They decorate so beyond words at Christmas time. I live in Las Vegas, NV USA but you put a mantle on the fire place and I will send you pictures of how to decorate it for a beautiful show piece and warm family gathering place. Love Love Love mantels. Used to do home interior decorating especially at Christmas. Even did a Senators home. I'm so happy for you two and your children.
@23:14 you've probably already chosen the new interior paint color....I recently had the inside of my house painted. I would recommend purchasing the $5-$10 sample-size container of the paint to apply to different areas in the house to see how light plays on it. I settled on Sherwin WIlliams Escape Gray - it has some sage-color green in with the gray.
How fortunate y,all are to be able to live in a new home .you have worked hard for it .it's gonna be filled with love..health and happiness..a forever home .y,all deserve it..God bless y,all.
I feel your pain. We picked our house siding from a small sample called “terra cotta” but after it was installed it was rose against the white brick. Oh well, we got used to it.
Love that blue siding with all that white trim! With your tough winters, having a deep color would help with the winter blahs. Oh, I envy you having all those wonderful windows!!!
Like the agreeable grey. I would still have them paint severs areas n the house and c how u like it n different light and times of the day. It's a big commitment and costly to have to redo.
I work for Home Depot, in the paint department....ask the paint clerk to tell you what tints are in your paint choice....if your paint has RL, FL or JL in it for the tint additives, it will have a pink undertone. Agreeable Gray is a Sherwin Williams color, SW7029. If you want a true Gray, get the color "Gray Cloth" by Behr, it's a true gray. One more trick to picking a color......put the paint swatch that you choose next to the Ultra Pure White swatch by Behr, it will help you see the color when it is next to the white trim work in your house, if indeed you are going to have white trim and not stained trim.
The house is looking so beautiful! And I can’t believe how fast it’s being completed! My parents built several homes and all took quite awhile - one took about 8-9 months including an Indiana winter and another, larger and more elaborate home took about a year including an upstate New York winter. I’m in North Carolina now and with consistently good weather (notwithstanding this winter) and mild climate, they can put up HUGE houses in a surprisingly short time! Blink once and they’ve cleared out all the trees 😢 then blink again and the house is up, yard is sodded and fenced, and it looks like it’s been there all along! Glad you caught that you didn’t care for the paint color, though I don’t think the primer was the same as the finish color you had chosen. If it had been, you wouldn’t have been able to see the swatch of it they painted on the wall. But I’m sure you’ll be happy with the new color - I think it’s the most popular SW color. Certainly one of them and probably the most popular grey. All those people can’t be wrong! 😀 I actually like the textured ceilings. I’m glad that you and Melissa have such a strong vision of what you like. It must be difficult with so many of us commenting with everything from advice and suggestions to criticisms if your choices and everything in between. You’ve been so good at just taking anything that sounds like a good idea you hadn’t considered and shaking off the rest. Well done!
Yes that's what I was confused about! The swatch Alexander pointed to was white while the background was pink. If they chose this white then the pink was wrong. I have a question, why would you choose a primer color, why not just white or another color if necessary that will be good as a base for the final color and the experts choose the prime color? Or am I misunderstanding the word primer, and does it simply mean the first layer of the color? I'm confused why you as a customer would choose the color of the primer, also I would just have chosen white as underground and the choice process would only have been for the final paint. What am I missing or misunderstanding?
Like the red. It does make me think of tool boxes. Hope all the stuff with the truckers isn't going to cause any shortages on material for you. God bless. 🙏🏼
Crazy! Before watching to the end, I almost suggested to look at SW Agreeable Gray! It’s a wonderful warmer gray that goes with everything in my opinion. I have that in my house. BM Manchester Tan (historical color) was used in my house also. It’s a great neutral that’s coming back. Looks great! So envious of your new garage! I’m a DIY girl and dream of a space like that one day.
Love Agreeable Grey!! I was so happy to see someone mention Manchester Tan! That's the colour we picked 3 years ago when ours got painted! Still love it so much! It's warm and neutral and goes so well with all our darker furniture!
The high gloss red in the garage will be cool. Very mach box car style. Vintage hubcaps on the walls. A few license plates. Big round red wall clock that looks like a tire rim. Sweet.😄
Always consider your light source when choosing paint colors. Looking at the samples in place is best. Fun fact ,men see things cooler , woman warmer I used to work in a photo lab and we were tested for color biases.
This video brought back memories of when we renovated. We had so many samples on the walls and lived with them for a while, our basic color being gray- too many choices-boggles the mind! 🤪
Just an idea, but it might be a idea to have a workbench/storage directly in front of where you’ll be working on vehicles. Seems like that would be very handy! Maybe even something on wheels so you can move it to wherever you need it. Then park it back in its ‘space’ when you’re done with it. So loving these vids on the progression of your house and your thought process behind your decisions.
I kept having that "little pink houses" song going through my head during this, lol. That's about the shade I wanted in one room of the house, and ended up with "Explosion At The Pepto Bismol Factory" pink. It's still there to this day.
Happy to see things are moving along nicely. I agree with the paint change, the pinky color was too hard on the eyes. The gray shade is definitely warm and relaxing. Your dream house is getting closer to reality. See you next video! 🤗❣️👍🏠
First, I do not like the color blue in decorating most times; but, I saw the outside of your house for the first time and I absolutely love what you and your wife did with the outside. I love the shade of blue you picked and the white accents just make that blue pop. Then adding the hint of gray at top; what a lovely way to highlight the house. Great job on decorating the exterior. I showed my husband what your ideas are in your garage; he is envious of your garage. He had oak top and bottom cabinets with a counter top put in our home here in Florida. It gave him great storage and working space (he doesn't work on cars much anymore); but, there is always some project or repair work that you have to do on a house and the countertop space really comes in handy. This is the best time to make these major decisions on how you want things in your new home; it is the most cost effect time to have it done, as well. Great planning on your part; even if some of it is done spur of the moment.
I've repainted my living areas 4 times in 2.5 years, builder beige was pink like your boo boo, then a gray that was too icy, a white that was too yellow...UGH! Funny though, recently I finally found my light AND warm gray with the least expensive brand and I finally LOVE my walls wearing Glidden Premium Polished Limestone. Good luck and I love your new house!
That is great you can envision a finished project. Some of my family can do that. I would be like a sitcom I once saw. Move the couch here. No, move it 2 inches to the left, etc. Also small swatches of paint and fabric look so different to me than a whole room or project. And paint changes color so much with lighting. Looking forward to seeing your completed and furnished housr.
AWESOME! Like the grey color. We actually just had our bathroom re-done and used a grey. Ours are quite a bit darker, but I really like the shade you picked out. Your kids must love the prospect of designing their rooms. My folks had a new home built in 1978, and I got to pick the carpet and such. I picked a royal blue shag type, and it still looks great. Lol
Friends of mine just built a new home and it's painted "agreeable gray" inside and it looks great. It turns a bit taupe when wood tones are put up against it such as cabinetry and it goes more gray when against white. You will love it!!!!
@@leandabee It does have green in the tint actually! Most people see it as 'griege' though. Everyone sees colors/undertones differently and women can usually see more subtle color differences than men.
I had to laugh when you were giving a tour of the garage. When you were pointing towards the window it looks like a robot with skinny black legs. I know its a heater cover but it struck me funny!!! 😂😀😆
Agreeable grey is a beautiful color. When I saw it on your wall, I knew it had to be that before you said it. My daughter had just about her entire house painted that color. I loved it so much that when we were redoing our bedroom, I painted it that color. And have a light grey carpet. I love it. I’m sure you will, too. It’s the color of today. 😁 Blessings
Yeah, that pink was a bit much! Better to change it now than wait until after you move in! The grey will be nice! I have that ceiling texture and it looks nice. Your home is coming along nicely! Very exiting!
In my new build I picked a light gray. When I did a walk through it was baby blue everywhere. I had them repaint the entire thing Accessible Beige. It happens ! Home looks fantastic.
The house is coming along great guns . And I think the red cabinets will look fantastic in your garage. The Grey you have both chosen for the walls will love lovely.
14:09 there is the possibility of upper cabinets on the walls adjacent to vehicles that might not interfere with opening car doors. Provides more storage space still.
The house looks fantastic. It's so fun to see the progress each time you visit. The Agreeable Gray color will be beautiful and will look great with the red garage cabinets. I'm hoping they fully finished wrapping the house in Tyvek before they installed the siding on the upper level.
I think we've all been there, choosing the wrong color from a sample that looked quite different when it was applied to the walls. lol Great choice with the gray - I have a light gray, with a tiny dash of blue in it, in my living room, and I love it.
House is beautiful, love ex. color, it's coming along great, so happy for you guys! Interior of my 2 story barn is wood tongue and groove, with a sealer, looks great.
Popcorn ceilings are impossible to keep clean, especially around vents and in the kitchen where grease and dust stick to it. Getting spider webs off is a major mess. If you try to sweep or vacuum whatever mess off the ceiling, tons of particles from the ceiling fall. My apartment has popcorn and it’s a nightmare. If you have ceiling fans, there’s always a dirty ring around them on the ceiling. I dust my fans twice a week and it’s still an issue. When I owned my own house, we had the popcorn removed when we bought it and redid the ceilings to a flat surface. It’s less expensive when you don’t have super high ceilings like yours. We had a four bedroom ranch house. Popcorn hasn’t been popular in decades because it’s so difficult to maintain. It’s a good choice for Melissa to have made.
We did the same thing in our house. Swifter the ceiling as well as the floors. When we sold the house, a lot of the viewers commented on how it was a selling point.
Hey, Alexander it's coming together. I can notice the pinkish color through the camera when you compare it to the grey you chose. A lot of work has been done since the last time watch the update videos. Envisioning what you want in your minds eye its coming together. Some modifications are necessary sometimes to get it the way you see it looking. Well have a good one and glad they are back on track. As always, "Enjoy the Adventure." 😀👍
Ah it's sometimes greige is pink beige and grey undertone depending the light north west east and south facing. It's a huge issue if you don't get the right colour of the light during the day
Common practice is to put half the color into the primer because if you put the full color in, it will appear too dark. Red is notorious for changing colors dramatically in paint so even if it's a neutral color; a color cut in half will look pink. I work in a paint store the painters and home owners freak out about colors sometimes. 😉
May I make a suggestion, you can buy a light on amazon with different Calvin temperature readings. This way you can turn it on look at it in daylight and evening settings. Plus you can see the undertones much better. Beautiful house!
I saw the title of your video and the words, Avalon Biege, popped into my head! Sixteen years ago, we built our first house and chose Avalon Biege for the paint color. YES!! It was pink! Not an easy fix since the final coat was already on when we found out. We re-painted bedrooms during the first year that we lived in the house, but "lived with" the pink in the main parts of the house. After 13 months in the house, a roof leak developed that warped some of the wood flooring by the front door. Since the flooring could not be matched, ALL of the wood flooring on the first floor was ripped out and replaced with new, AND since the shoe molding was removed, the insurane paid for NEW PAINT on all of the walls where there was wood floor!! So every bit of Avalon Biege was covered, and paid for by the insurance company!!
Looks really good! I think you will be happy with grey paint, i have grey in my house, it goes well with wood tones. For the fireplace, are you putting in a rustic wood mantle? Maybe a reclaimed wood piece?
Paint angst can be a real issue. Glad you're working it out. Like the red for garage cabinets. Good to start with a basic workbench and storage. Over time as you use the space you will be able to add or modify as you wish. Don't look at the house as "set in stone"when you move in. Your family is gonna be there for the long run. Looking good so far. 👍
I would have picked red too. Loving you future new home. Some of the warmer whites tend to go pinkish or yellowish. I painted a bathroom "blush" (not the name as I can't recall) white and was so happy with what I thought was a mistake putting it on as it was very expensive paint. It was the only color I've ever seen change throughout the day into evening and loved it. It was never girly though just the most wonderful glow so I painted the whole house that color and people actually asked what it was so they could do their houses in it. Later I saw many decorators say to always go warm instead of cool in your home.
A fun thing about paint. It always looks different from what you thought it would look like from the samples. The safe bet is always a light -> med gray or creamy whitish. Yea, pink/orange/red/black for house walls... NO! Always earth tones even a light green or brown but LIGHT not dark. I like your last choice, that gray is perfect for that house. It's amazing how you managed to do all this without a MORTGAGE to 'ball and chain' you to the slave master aka BANKS! Well done Alexander.
I think the grey might be too dark and Alexander was already rationalizing it away. I always try to catch myself doing that, it means you are hesitating and know in your heart you don't really like it
@@stephaniehowe0973 Ikr, they say when not sure choose the lightest of the color shade, or in general also choose lighter than you think. But the photo in the magazine Alexander showed was really nice, hopefully it will become like the picture. Still I think lighter is more subtle and chicer. But it doesn't really matter, it's good enough and a beautiful home
I vote for the wood looking cabinets with the blue garage floor… would look more high end and match the exterior. Then I’d get the silver or black tool boxes. Nice to see it being done so professionally! Good job guys!
House looks beautiful!! I have agreeable gray in my house and its perfect soothing not too dark not too light best of luck with all the decisions love you guys wonderful family
My favorite paint color is SW Urban Putty. It isn’t on their current color card but they can still mix it. It is a tan that morphs into a perfect blender no matter the decor. During an office rebuild we used that color. My offce was English Garden decor (soft blue, sage green and peach), my boss decorated in African art and the other executive did Chinese red lacquer, black and green. Every room was fabulous.
I would definitely go with the red as it matches the red tool boxes you already have rather than have all mix mash colours. Also is a classic colour to go with your classic cars.
If you are still looking for a warmer white color… alabaster by Sherwin Williams is amazing. We have it in our entire home. I’ve heard it pairs well with agreeable grey too.
Yeah greys can be hard to pick out because they all have an undertone. Some are more pink, green, purple, blue or yellow. The swatch on the left was completely different than what was on the walls. Maybe I'm misunderstanding though.
The colour on the walls is the primer, which is much pinker than the paint on the left. Looking at other walls, that are completely painted and the primer isn't visible, the paint has a pink hue. The paint just doesn't look pink next to the primer, because the primer is so much more pink.
Maybe your daughter would like to keep that color for her bedroom . I can't believe that the contractor didn't check with you first before painting the whole house pink. Looks like primer to me.
@@KNYD Do you have a timestamp for the walls that were completely painted with the paint color? I don't see it. I see a paint that needs at least two coats to hide that hideous pink primer. Why would someone use pink primer? I've heard of gray or blue primers, but pink? I'm confused about the whole thing I guess. haha
@@KNYD So…the comment stands. The paint swatch painted in the wall isn’t pink like the primer. I think I might have asked for a much larger section to be painted in my chosen color so I could see it. But then, I prefer a lighter and less grey shade. 🤷🏼♀️
Alex, I love all aspects of your podcast. I check everyday to see if you have something new. One piece of advice: Take great care in choosing the interior paint colors… For example, when you put those red cabinets in the garage, the white walls are likely to appear pink. The light will bounce the red around. Since you will be matching colors and painting cars, you may want a more neutral cabinet color - like a wood. Your idea about teak sounded good to me. You could have red accents where they are easily changed. (I LOVE red so I totally get being pulled toward it.)
That's the problem with paint "samples", they are never the same color as the real paint. You should always get one of those little bottles of the paint and put it on the wall to see if it is a color you would actually like.
We painted pieces of drywall different colors and carried them around the house at different times of day to get a more true vision of the look. Worked great. Also allowed us to use them when shopping for other items that needed to match/compliment the wall color. :)
That’s Alex Archbold Red for me! It’s the perfect colour for the garage cabinets. The previous owners of my home painted the walls a mushroom pink colour very similar to your first coat. I hate it because it isn’t bright and changing it is a big job. So yay to fixing it now!

Oh! I like the nice warm pink. Grey is so dreary. Fine on the outside of house but inside just takes away all the light!
Agree. Grey just always looks like a cloudy day.
@@iamgabriel5823 I hope with all the lighting throughout the kitchen/dining area that there are dimmers for the family to appreciate. First thing I do in a new place is set the lighting - brilliant all the time is uncomfortable ......dimmer switches and or dials are great.
Love, how you're standing outside in the Canadian winter, with no shawl and your shirt collar open 😅
I had my walls painted a similar shade of 'rosy white' in my turn of the century flat in Berlin for years, btw.
It's only -20 here right now. Not that bad :)
Good advice!
The red for the cabinet makes me smile. It's a lovely colour! Agree with a pop of colour and coordinating with your other shop storage.
Not enough wall space for your cabinets? Have them build you a rolling island workbench to match... industrial casters, matching cabinet doors/drawers and counter top. It would look great and can be moved out of the way when not needed.
and don't place the workbench on the other side of the kitchen wall....
I like red for your cabinet job. I highly recommend at least 1 roll around cabinet for the ability to take your tools to the job.
You and your family give me comfort. Keep it coming
Hello Alex I cannot wait to see the finish of your beautiful home, looking forward 👍🌺🦋🌈❤️💖😊😘🙏🏻from Edith in cairns Queensland Australia 🇦🇺. Cheers!!!
Alex if I could suggest putting all your pot lights on dimmer switches. You won’t regret it! I love the option of mood lighting especially in the dark mornings of winter. No blinding light first thing when you wake up.
I agree wholeheartedly...put your can lights on dimmer switches. You will never regret it!
I agree and he should get LED dimmer switches. Your regular dimmers are not made for dimmable LED bulbs!
I love the red! My dad’s a mechanic and I love the red tool boxes and it would match perfectly tying the whole look together
A lot of gas and oil tins/signs have red which would go great if you decide to decorate with them.🤣
Agreed!
The red cabinets are a cool accent and match the red door of the shop! It's a funny red thread through the two buildings
Omg. I loved in a very pink house and loved it!
The house where I grew up in the 60s had pink siding. I loved it but not everyone (my dad) did.
😂😂😂we had a lady paint a store up here that was suspose to be painted a light gray blue,it came out a neon baby blue😂😂😂ugly
This was such a fun video to watch. The openness of the house makes it seem so big, especially with all the windows looking out to the woods. Very nice.
The landscaping of those trees surrounding the yard was beautifully done - I am in awe of them.
Yes but can you imagine cleaning all those windows?? Hope Melissa has a strong arm 😅
Also when hesitating between 2 shades of a color, they say to choose the lightest
Love the red for the garage. And the blue outside is beautiful. What a gorgeous home.
Definitely RED Alex!!!🤩 Love how the house looks with the siding colours! Looking forward to seeing the front door in place! 👌
Paint is tricky! Your home is lovely and you will fill it with love. Blessings!
I think Red and Black cabinet doors for the garage would look awesome!! I do love that color tone of red, it's a nice touch!
I never realized how many shades of gray there are!
I love the red for the cabinets, and personally I like a workbench on wheels. It'll look cool whatever you pick though!
Thanks for sharing Your updates. Your house is looking awesome. You totally nailed it!! 1987 pink styles in Your garage. 😀👍♥️🇨🇦💯💯
I actually like the textured ceilings.
Spot on! I did as well - he made a smart choice for the new color!
Yup! Agreeable Gray for me too in Cleveland, Ohio! 🙂
Your home is coming along even more. Looking good, Alex. Good thing you discovered that paint error.😳👍
I love pink houses!
Love the red cabinets!!! Yikes @ pink walls. From my experience paint is never like swatch. Great ceiling!
Oh goody - a new installation of Curiosity Inc and enough time to enjoy it with my coffee before starting work. ❤️
Glossy worktops show the scratches. You're also better with stippled top for hiding blemishes like burns and spills.
Happy to see things are moving along nicely. I agree with the paint change, the pinky color was too hard on the eyes. The gray shade is definitely warm and relaxing. Your dream house is getting closer to reality. See you next video! 🤗❣️👍🏠
So looking forward to seeing the finished garage! I just drywalled mine but haven't finished the floor yet!
Wow! Amazing! Ever look into suspended cabinets? That would help save space in garage. Laughed so hard at Mary Kay comment!!
What a garage...wow!! Can't wait to see after it's done and you put up all the tools and add the decor signs etc
I looked it up; that's a really nice color too!
@@mozu517 Thanks! Only took me 3 years of bringing paint chips home lol
Paint choices can be challenging for sure, glad you were able to find something you like.
Red cabinets in the garage, Agreeable Grey in the house. Perfect! Glad you caught the paint color issue!
Very successful color, especially for Mary Kay
Agreeable gray is amazing!
Agreeable grey looked green to me 🤔
@@leandabee It does have green in the tint actually! Most people see it as 'griege' though. Everyone sees colors/undertones differently and women can usually see more subtle color differences than men.
@@ktdid627 is this like the white/black blue versus gold dress from a few years ago 🤣. It quite interesting how everyone sees something different 💕👍
Love that your home is coming along! So happy for you all.
😁 Blessings
Pink ! I did the same thing once. Was hoping for an Arizona sunset sort of color. OOPS. Worse, it was the outside color!!!
Hehehehe, whoops. Do you remember the color you initially picked? Did you have large outdoor swatches of it before it was chosen?
I did too! Thought I was picking a light beige until the sun hit it. I should have realized there was a reason it was called “Shylock.”
@@agresticumbra no that’s the color I picked. It was during my ‘Romantic Period’. 😁🤷🏼♀️🥵
Yeah, that pink was a bit much! Better to change it now than wait until after you move in! The grey will be nice! I have that ceiling texture and it looks nice. Your home is coming along nicely! Very exiting!
I like the red. You're the one living with it on a daily basis so I'd say it's totally your decision. It will be awesome for sure.
We love our Agreeable Gray from Sherwin-Williams. We painted our living room and halls with it 5 years ago. It’s a perfect backdrop!
In my new build I picked a light gray. When I did a walk through it was baby blue everywhere. I had them repaint the entire thing Accessible Beige. It happens ! Home looks fantastic.
Undertone, and lighting, are huge factors.
My home is painted accessible beige and I love it. Most of the time it looks dove gray and at night it leans more toward a beige tone.
I think we've all been there, choosing the wrong color from a sample that looked quite different when it was applied to the walls. lol
Great choice with the gray - I have a light gray, with a tiny dash of blue in it, in my living room, and I love it.
Really shouldn't be choosing a color at all til the lights are installed in the house so you can see the real colors IN the house.
It's a huge issue if you don't get the right colour of the light during the day
No Barbie garage. Love the Red cabinet material, I love red. The agreeable grey is elegant looking in in style. House is beautiful.
I used Grey at my store and the florescent lights made one room look lavender, it was awful! Changed the bulbs and fixed it!
That is going to be a beautiful, comfortable house. Great job.
Red is a good colour, you can't see the blood when the spanner slips.🤣🙏❤️
I have learned on the wall I want 1 step lighter then I thought
Now I am considering finding agreeable grey where I live lol
Ya, that’s why I’m curious about their first colour choice. It doesn’t look like the primer. I’m wondering if the paint shop may have screwed up.
I'm confused about the whole thing I guess. haha

So…the comment stands.
