Feel free to extend these series ...there were so many rooms that we did not see.....we love going through it all. So many unique things in each house.
Yes! I'm wondering what that room between the livingroom and the garage is, and how is it accessed. Of course since Alex isn't showing it for whatever reason it is none of my business . . . (but hasn't stopped me from wondering ;) )
There's nothing left to see the whole house was full of arts and crafts stuff he probably lost his ass on this one between gas and dumping fees and buying hundreds of boxes they should have been paying him to clear the house out definitely wouldn't have payed to do all that work.
Just cleaned out my mom's house when she moved to assisted living and I can tell you that watching these videos really helped me have a mode of operation. First out the trash, second out the charity, third what to keep and what to do with it. Also, I ended up taking blue painter's tape and putting a piece of it on each area that was cleared out. That way, I could see easily my progress and know that I didn't have to keep opening the same cupboard or drawer over and over once it was empty. If it had blue tape on the door, it was empty.
I love this house clear out. The green glass set is an aperitif set, this is for any type of pre dinner drink you want to serve. Dubonnet and Campari are popular.
The dump they use has an area where people leave stuff and it can be gone thru by others to take so not everything he says is going to the dump is actually getting trashed.
These types of videos are so much fun, I really enjoy them. So surprising the things people leave behind. We bought a cottage, told the elderly seller to take what she wanted, leave what she didn't (we're on an island and it can be difficult and expensive to transport things). We occasionally still find things in the barn that are interesting.
Oh how I wish you could/would buy this house. I would love to see what you could do to the inside and the WONDERFUL REVITALIZATION that Melissa would do with the gardens!!! Great series!
This is a gorgeous home/acreage!!! With all of the items it almost protected the house! Someone is going to be very lucky!!! Wish it were me! This is my dream home! (Especially the stove!!) Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
Seeing the home without the furniture and stuff really highlights the "good bones". I can sooooo see this home being snapped up quickly and lovingly restored to its former beauty.
So much work but you have done a great job sorting and going through everything. Take care of your back. I enjoy it when you give a history of what you find and if it has any value. Always enjoy seeing Melissa and your kids.
Using the product from the house, to pack out the house. Minute Mark 34 you’re packing out breakables to transport to auction, in crates. Earlier you showed a dresser of vintage small linens. When we did this work, we’d use the clean linens (hand towels, t-shirts, etc) to keep the sellable glassware safe in transport. Then once at the destination the “packing” could either become more auction lots, or be bagged for future donations. Vintage T-shirts and fine linens work well to keep glass from clinking in transport and then may have value on their own. 😉
Same crate load brings up a second technique. Under the glass bucket filled with fruit are 2 boxes. You packed them side by side. If you separated them, with glass between (or glass in the crate corners and the boxes in the center), the boxes would keep the glass apart, risking less damage in transit, with no additional packing needed. 😉
Dear bryanhenry... 👍👌👏 You're absolutely right. But unfortunately it's a waste of time telling him that. I've watched even all of his old videos and tried to tell him often myself. Mr. Archbold was, is and will be extremely careless when it comes to packing stuff in boxes. Also when loading the pickup truck and trailer. With just a little bit more effort, damage can be avoided. By the way: Still using always only one hand to unpack/move stuff doesn't help either. 🙈 Best regards, luck and health in particular.
@@Chr.U.Cas1622 I wasn't commenting so much at Alex, as to other viewers who might get into the biz at some point. I've met folks who insisted on packing everything out of an estate or storage unit, like they were putting it in long term storage. Every piece would get papered or bubble wrapped. Too much packing really extends the process, so I've always felt that just a bit more attention, protects most things. For instance, I'd put glassware around the outside of a box or tote, then put something in the middle wrapped in a T-shirt or towel and that one or 2 wrapped items would fill the inevitable loose space and keep the pieces from shifting. The same is true of art. I see a lot of TH-cam content creators stack art in shopping carts randomly or stacked in the same direction. But if the frames are simply put front to front and back to back, the sharp metal hanger hardware isn't able to scratch the front of a good frame. Takes no longer to position it that way then stacking it all in one direction. Enjoy your day.
@@brianhenry2385 Yes, you're absolutely right again and I agree. 2) So you didn't see him putting those 3 (or 4?) pictures with the gold frames in a cardboard box? In just the way you described it shouldn't be done? 3) If time would really be an issue in this series, he wouldn't drive things away with the pickup truck bed not fully loaded (and nothing inside the green truck). Or why doing several trips to the dump and/or donation/charity places instead of doing it with a full truck bed plus trailer? Trust your eyes, it's done in this way by purpose. One can be/act way more efficient. But doing it this way is good for video making respectively getting views. Please don't forget: Mr. A. was/is mainly a seller and he does this extremely well/successful. 👍👌👏 Sincerely yours.
I’m enjoying this series of vids Alex. I think the little green glasses and decanter are for Sherry, it was the pre dinner drink of choice back in the day.
I’m always amazed by the transformation of each location Alex! You and your family take such care to ensure that sensitive documentation, photos and other information is preserved, while still clearing a space in a timely fashion. Although in this home I’m a little surprised that the Wedgewood Pennine set hadn’t been removed from the kitchen cabinets sooner
This cleanout was so much work!!! Compare yourself from the first video to this one. The fatigue is real! Thanks for showing the reality. I greatly enjoy your videos.
Yesterday, we properly packed all our giant Halloween collection away. After 18 years of doing one of the biggest Halloween Haunt in Ottawa, Ontario, we are selling everything. We already sold 1/5 of it and will sell the rest in Spring, the amount of stuff you collect in so many years is crazy. It will be nice to have our garage and basement back.
All the fabric and pattern finds takes me back to when my sister and I were clearing out the 33 years' worth of accumulated stuff in our parents' home after they died.
I can’t wait to see what the cook stove goes for! I’m building a small 20x30 house this summer in Kansas and want an old gas stove, a farm sink with two sinks and tilted drain boards on each side, a claw foot tub and butcher blocks… am I dreaming or what?! Love these clean out shows. You got me through the beginning of Covid and a back surgery, Alex!!👍❤️💕
I’m exhausted just watching you. This was a fun series. My ex and I did house clean outs for a property management company when we were first married. It was gross sometimes, but rewarding too.
When I'm cleaning out a house I've taken to putting a rubber band or a ribbon around the cabinet door handle so that I know it's empty without opening it
If I am remembering correctly, the glass basket is Anchor Hocking and is an ice bucket. Sells for alright money. I was also thinking that the realtor might like a copy of those papers showing how the house was and that it had been a show piece to show potential buyers.
ahw, I was looking forward to going through those fabrics in the trunk! They can give such a good view in earlier times. But I can understand you being tired and just not having extra bandwidth to do it. The garden is indeed gorgeous, it just needs a little love.
luv those Butterick patterns thats a gem of a collection for anyone who sews; any word if this house is being listed with realtors yet, it won’t last long once it does go on the market, its beautiful home
It is so nice to make sure the donated items are clean, and that the house is being cleaned up too as you go. I can tell that Hannah is a sweetheart, just by the things she said about there being a lot of Christmas memories in this room. She wasn't kidding about the dust, it looked brand new when she mopped the floor! Alex, I am loving this series; and I hope you make a good profit from the items!
Seems like somebody starting out would like the couch that turns to a bed. I lived on one of those when I first moved out. I was very appreciative that I got it at a yard sale for a price I could afford.
Anchor Hocking was made in Lancaster, Ohio, south of Columbus. It was bought by Libby, then LCN Capital Partners, and is now owned by Stoelzle Glass Group.
I saw a West Bend electric Wok in the kitchen at 4:00 minute mark that I surely would have bid on. I really miss mine! I used mine so many hundreds of times, that I wore out the teflon lining, and West Bend doesn't make them anymore.

I came here to say this
Such a beautiful house and property. I hope it finds new owners that love it as much as the original ones did.
That's a nice couch so sad to dump it😢, your Steven looks just like his pa! Handsome!!
The dump they use has an area where people leave stuff and it can be gone thru by others to take so not everything he says is going to the dump is actually getting trashed.
@@justmeiniowa that's good!
I loved this great home and lively acres. You can tell these homeowners cherished their little piece of paradise!
Love the scrapbook pics of the house, beautiful. Perfect place for a Christmas tree. Now we can see why there were so many bears too.
Hannah seems like a lovely young lady. Very sweet of her to help out too.
Steven looks like a mini Alex! 😊
Handsome kid!!
Doesn’t he though? I thought the same thing! 🙂
I see Melissa in him, too.
He is the picture of Melissa’s dad. Steven carries himself like Dave too
Hannah is so neat....mopping satisfying and wondering what memories the dust has.
I like Hannah.
Gosh! What a beautiful property. Some other family will love it again im sure.

Absinthe. That's what I would drink out of the fancy green glasses.
