Happy Wife, Happy Life. Melissa looks so content with all the progress being made. Can't wait when the family adds their own personal touches to make it a real home.
Ian, the stain man, is a true craftsman and so glad he’s doing your stairs. He did a fantastic job on the color! There’s the proof of his professionalism. A lot of guys would have called the original color “close enough” and not bothered, but he went above and beyond and tweaked it to make it perfect. And I loved the absence of a need to stubbornly “be right” when it came to the newell post. A lot of guys would have been making excuses and reasons why it didn’t REALLY match, etc because they had thought it wouldn’t, but he just seemed unruffled and glad to change the plan. I think it’s going to look wonderful! So glad both Alex and Melissa are happy with the paint color. 👍🏻
New Brunswick’s loss … Alberta’s gain. Very professional, intelligent and patient man … so well said above. I work for a high end home builder here in New Brunswick and we need more of his type here !!
I wouldn't have even noticed there was a rise with the railing till you pointed it out. Anyhow, the way they built it looks great and flows nicely. I see why Dru sent those painters away. Staining is one very messy job. I don't envy the job the painters have ahead of them finishing up the spindles and the rest of the stairwell. Masking everything off will probably take hours. In the end, that's going to be one beautiful staircase.
I am so very happy for you and Melissa, Alex! I am definitely building my dream house vicariously through you building yours!! And I think it’s fabulous that you are getting to build it now while your children are all at home so you can enjoy the “newness” of it all together! The stain man is a true artist and master of his craft! I love the unique stain he came up with to match the wood of the flooring! I think your home is going to be absolutely stunning when it’s completed!! I’m so very happy for you all! I love seeing people’s dreams come true!! Especially when they are hard working, kind and good-hearted people like you & yours, Alex!!!
'Agreeable Grey' paint looks great! It is calming and more mellow than stressful blinding pink! The staircase will be beautiful! It will look like a movie set staircase. Regal! You and Melissa created a great floor plan and are making awesome choices for your home.
the gray is perfect, had lots of retired navy vets in the family , houses and fences were painted battleship grey, my house right now is battleship grey lol. the tradition continues. had a female mallard fly right into the front of my house on a cloudy day, she was angry and on the lawn for about 15 to 20 minutes then flew off. haha.
Alex and Melissa. That house is coming along nicely. Beautiful home. I love all the colors you picked out. That’s something you can be proud of for many years to come. Just thinking of all the Christmas’s and children’s Birthday celebrations. The goal’s and dreams achieved. Thanks for sharing your dream home with us. Looking forward to see the next video of more progress. Take care. Alex and Melissa.
I predict an even greater demand for Agreeable Gray now that those of us channel followers who don’t already have it in their homes see how good it looks! Your home is going to be everything you’ve hoped and worked for.
Honestly, I really love that grey...looks great! Everything is looking wonderful and couldn't happen to nicer people! Just seeing Dhrupad makes me smile! He's adorable!
I agree. Once the walks are painted all the same color and the stairs are finished and the railings all stained and painted, your eye will just travel right on up the stairs and never stop there. It’s going to look fabulous!
The railing “honestly it doesn’t bother me at all…” then… “so we’re keeping it this way??” Ha! I love the tiny details that contribute to the enormous build!
When you’re dealing with true artists and craftsmen, it’s easier to put your faith in them and not need to worry about the outcome so much. They’re lucky to have this man.
I like Agreeable Gray. Looks nice. I really like the contractors. Be patient the house will get done. You want things done right the first time. It's going to be a beautiful home🥰
Hello Alex AND Melissa 🙋🏽. I'M glad that your home is coming together beautifully. I'm almost As excited as you guy's are to see the finished project.❤️
I love grey. My favourite at the moment is grey and mustard but it goes with !any colours! It will great no matter, it's totally your choice 😀👍. The varnish man definitely knows his stuff.
I’m so happy I found your page I have binged watched all your adventures😊they are so heartwarming and beautiful to watch thank you for doing what you do..🙏🏼
My 2c: I would love to see the carpet on the stairs to be those kind with a strip going up the middle with the wood finished on the sides and those brass poles across (or not), but I just think it would look nice with your style.
❤️❤️❤️So EXCITING watching parts of your dream home adventure. THANK YOU for sharing. If Alex and Melissa are happy, then that’s all that really matters. However, I absolutely truly LOVE the choices you’re making❣️❣️❣️ LOVE your setting and acreage with great gardens and good times inside and outside potential❣️ LOVE your 3 level home design including finished basement❣️LOVE the grand staircase❣️ SO Glad to see those PINKISH walls covered by Agreeable GRAY. Grays, golds and whites are all great neutral base tones for wall colors that provide endless possibilities for gorgeousness with furnishings and decor. LOVE Melissa’s wonderful KITCHEN and Alex’s monstrous GARAGE. EPIC things will be happening in both places. 💖Alex and Melissa, you deserve all this and much more. Thank you for allowing your TH-cam FAMILY around the world to share so many wonderful adventures❤️❤️❤️
Alex and Melissa you are so blessed in that both of you are so family oriented and supportive of each other you don't see this a whole lot any more love your home Melissa can't wait to see you in your new kitchen doing your cooking videos loved the garage, loved the railing shoot I love all of it!!!God Bless all of you and ❤ to all!!!
Love the dark stain for the bannister rails and the white spindles will really stand out...love the colour of the garage...that will look nice upstairs..
Gray walls just look like a perpetual cloudy day. I'm glad you were able to stain the stairway posts. The dark contrast to the light spindles will look great.
Wow Ian is amazing! I always wondered why stain looked so different on some woods compared to what the stain looked like in a sample. I'll have to remember that water popping technique.
Hello Alex and Family good to see you again. I hope to hear from you soon, the house looks amazing inside 👏👏👏👍🌺🌈🦋💖❤️😊😘🙏🏻from Edith in Queensland Australia. Cheers!!!
The color of the lights in your home is going to make a difference how you feel about the grey. If it's too dark, I'd say put in a different light, either a lot whiter and stronger, or the opposite and give it an almost orange yellow. It will do a lot for changing the feeling of "too grey". IF that happens. I'm glad it is as light as it is! And, It will also start looking a whole lot better when colors of the furniture comes in, especially window dressing.
Wow, are they spray painting, because that is a very smart way to paint a massive amount of rooms, way before flooring and stuff is put in. Regardless of the code, I think the gradual rise in the rail is really cool, looks more natural. Great job so far. Getting more exciting by the day….
Lookin good! I remember when they came to paint the exterior..I cried ..I couldn’t believe how horrible the color I had picked was gonna be…fortunately I only had to look at it for a day, got a little help from the painter and loved the color we ended up with! A lot of decisions to make when building a home! God Bless !
It really shows up just how pink it was! I can't believe people couldn't see it. Small samples are really a crazy way to pick paint. You sure aren't the first this has happened to. So glad it got caught and sorted when it did!! 🤗
Love the grey. It looks classy to me. And to he stain looks very nice too. Can't wait to see it done. And I also could see Alex playing with the cars on the staircase. It's 12:23 I need to hit the hay. Tomorrow is the Lord's day and get to go to service. My favorite day of the week. Love yuns and God Bless. ❤️😘💞💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌞🌞🌞🌞✌️👶
We had every room in our house painted the same color when we had it built in 2015. I loved it like that but now I'm thinking of switching it up. I love the color you chose ❤️😍
The Grey really is nice! And the blues you both like will look terrific with it. It is going to be so exciting to see the first time you leave work to come HOME to this house. Moving in will be great, but there's a really special feeling about it finally being home.
House it looking great 💗 Have you considered staining your spindles too? I work in interior design and boy is it a challenging to go back and stain already painted spindles. The last 10 years or so people are finding the white spindles and dark railings can look more dated than classic. More 1980’s than 1880’s 🙂 Just a thought…
I agree, but then everything we do inside or outside the house dates it. And today's modern kids think they have to change everything every few years. Oh well, hope they have they money for it. We're starting to build our last house, so I don't care since the house will belong to someone else. These last 2 houses have been medium cherry cabinets. 10 yrs before that I had a house with older, more rustic med maple color, and 10 before that it was light oak. So 4 houses in 30 years has changed every decade. I'm buying some used light cherry for this new one. They have a lovely house and want to change their premium cabinets out for probably painted ones. I'm getting a bargain, so I don't care.
@@wuznotbornyesterda sounds like a fun journey! I am a big proponent of keeping the foundation neutral and changing up art, rugs, furnishings etc…over the years. Yes, I agree for protection and upkeep (and depending upon the finish), but Ian The Stain Guy, isn’t done with it yet! It’s going to have a nice finish.
Great progress on the house, the way it is going, i would think you would be able to take possession sooner then you thought! I like the stain, paint and hardwood choices, my house is actually very similar in colours! Lol…
Love the look of the lighter stain and I’m so over gray. However, I live in a sunny climate and lighter, warmer tones seem more suitable here. Your house should reflect you and where you live. Lol… yes the peachy-pink was definitely the late 80s. Grey became popular c2000s. Now it’s more light taupes n 50 shades of white. Your color scheme looks good with your great lighting. Very nice 👍
The agreeable gray looks great on the walls, much better than the sample. It looks like a lighter shade of mushroom on cam. Also, I like your idea of staining the newel.
