There are basically four types of motorcycle that riders can choose from. Adventure, Cruiser, Sports or Tourer. What you buy could be down to what your friends have and do with them. With add-ons, you can turn one type into another. Whatever motorcycle you chose to buy at a younger age does not mean you must stick to that format. On my last 6-week EU tour, the majority I saw were adventure bikes on the road. And the majority of riders were 50+ in age when seeing them parked up.

The Buell cruiser is sick! A new FXR, Dyna Bro.but faster. Yeah the market of making bikes will shift to faster cruiser bikes, heart of a Suzuki Busa. I see younger riders and 40 years old riders wanting them. The future of engine size of 1100 cc to 1320 cc super cruiser. For me I'm a old rider and would want a smaller engine like a 1320cc cruiser with little more power and the old 1340cc Evo.

Say you were looking to buy a Harley or Indian... Sportster S, Softtail Standard, Streetbob, Fatbob, Lowrider S or FTR, Scout, Chief... you would have to consider the Buell Super cruiser as direct competition, final pricing would be a factor but if competitively priced i can see it eating into that area of the Harley/Indian market...
Estimated pricing for the super cruiser is $20-30,000. That's a lot of money for a bike that has very limited support. Harley's strength is the number of dealerships and support around the country. If you have a problem, you can get an HD sorted out quickly. This is one of the reasons I went with an HD cruiser over an Indian cruiser.
It's just smart business to acquire all the parts, patents and r&d of a proven high performance platform (EBR) and expand on it through a familiar rebrand as Buell. I hope they do well, though I'll be impressed only after they start selling bikes at scale rather than in boutique numbers.

The bike looks enticing. But this is what, the 4th incarnation of the company? I think they will struggle with any brand loyalty given the history. This is coming from someone who bought an S2 back in ‘95.
You answered your own question. Buell will be such a niche manufacturer they wouldn’t be a threat to Indian or Harley. What may happen is Indian and Harley may be forced to possibly drop the Scout and Lowrider line. I don’t see their big baggers being affected by Buell.
Why would they drop the lowrider line? They're wildly popular and successful. Aftermarket is back ordered for weeks or months because they're so damn popular.
Nope, Buell is no threat to Harley. The prototype bike is magnificent , but will not be the bike Buell offers. They have already cut out all Ohlens suspension. Both the cool exhaust systems are gone , to be replaced by leftover parts from other models. The horsepower rating of 185 has been dropped to 172 h.p. , with actual final numbers likely to be 150h.p. or so.The actual model they will be offering has very little in common with the Roland Sands design. If they had funding for a proper launch, with verified aftermarket upgrades on line , the Super Cruiser could be huge. It is easily the most exciting American bike in decades. It looks like a modern FXR right down to the ''FXR' Triangle '' that now carries the seat rather than the rear shock mounts. I really hope I'm wrong , but without the dealer support and limited aftermarket options the Super Cruiser dream will remain a dream.
You got to the crux of it at the end, price. Based on what I'm seeing at the shops locally, the price is too high to move any of the brands already taking up floor space. And the overlooked maintenance aspect. HD people are likely to appreciate going from changing the oil once every 5k miles to disassembling the thing to replace valve shims every 12k miles. At least not this HD person...

Boy this video isn’t going to age well…Harley is spending more resources buying back its stock to artificially keep the price high …yes Buell ABSOLUTELY can sell more units than Harley …from what people tell me buells pre order sales have exceeded expectations, the company is playing catch up but that super cruiser is going to sell like hot cakes
Buell will beat them as is an American bike ans i hope they crank dual sports dirk bikes and adventure bike and a nice spoet bobber to realy put them on the map.
If you look at the arrow shaped black plastic piece above the headlight "window" on the yellow Hammerhead pictured at 1:45, you can see that the current bikes still have "EBR" branding (Erik Buell Racing, the second iteration of the company, after Harley-Davidson dropped them, which lasted from 2009-2015). I've seen these bikes in person multiple times, including at the Buell "factory" in Grand Rapids. They all have EBR branded parts on them, even the Super Touring bike, which is a "new" model. I don't know about the rest of you, but paying the better part of $20k USD for a bike assembled from 10 year old parts doesn't appeal to me. Neither does the extremely expensive Super Cruiser, which they've been lowering expectations on. The latest prototype has lower spec hardware on it than the original RSD prototype, but the price is of course the same. If Buell wants to last, they need to partner with an asian firm to produce something affordable, in addition to their expensive "made in USA" models. I want them to succeed, but they're going to have a hard time getting anywhere selling bikes that no one can afford now.
If they are a threat to Harley they will just buy them again and close the doors. Harley is the reason why American motorcycle manufacturers never survive. Harley is a net negative on American motorcycles.
Buell definitely can overtake harely. The super cruiser is superior to any comparable Harley in just about every way. Plus buell makes the hammerhead and sx. Bikes that Harley doesn't have. I know you dont want to say it and i know buell lost before but if Harley doesnt get it together they will lose this time. Buells have cooler tech. Interesting design and will probably have better customer service than Harley. The only thing Harley has is heritage and that can only take you so far especially since most of their customers are too old to ride.
i really like riding and i will happily purchase a buell before harley especially since harley ceo has pronounced how harley has joined the queer woke movement
I owned a couple of Buell's. They'll be out of business in a couple of years. There won't be any place to get them serviced or warranty work done and in a few years no parts, you'll be on your own.
Lol literally not true, Buell makes hand built bikes and they sell quite a few of them. They are AMAZING machines, they just aren't made produced. They are built to order for the most part.
@jonnymac8925 they've tried this brand a few times ... usually pathetic sport bikes with clunky harley motors... this time they switched the recipe.. looks ugly to me... but .. to each their own..
How many times has Eric Buell gone broke? He failed with Harley, at one point every bike had to be recalled, he failed with EBR sport bikes, he failed as an electric brand. This guy keeps coming back and back with poorly engineered bikes fleecing investors over and over. Why go after the Harley/Indian crowd? They are literally dying. Buell has proven he can't design motorcycles. He literally designed the worst motorcycle in history with the Blast.
Harley grossly mismanaged Buell. If they'd been smart, today Harley/Buell dealerships would have a full line of bikes, from dirt bikes and dual sports, to sport bikes, to adventure bikes, to heritage cruisers. Such a wasted opportunity.

Yeah beul cool.. but really if ypu need ride a bake wheel motorcycle you should probably take a taxi . 😅
Just so you know, they bmw R18 you mentioned is a shit bike. 😢
Harley is a bigger threat to themselves
Buell barley has dealers in the U.S. so no. I wish them well though.
Buell in name only...E.B. sold his company
The price is too high
That's laughable...have you seen there latest products😂😂😂
What's wrong with their bikes?😂 they are incredible and anyone that's ever ridden one will tell you that.
@@jonnymac8925 I had a buell s1 incredible machine these new ones look cobbled together the lines are awful
Cheap suits!? How cheap?
If they are a threat to Harley they will just buy them again and close the doors. Harley is the reason why American motorcycle manufacturers never survive. Harley is a net negative on American motorcycles.
Buell definitely can overtake harely. The super cruiser is superior to any comparable Harley in just about every way. Plus buell makes the hammerhead and sx. Bikes that Harley doesn't have. I know you dont want to say it and i know buell lost before but if Harley doesnt get it together they will lose this time. Buells have cooler tech. Interesting design and will probably have better customer service than Harley. The only thing Harley has is heritage and that can only take you so far especially since most of their customers are too old to ride.
i really like riding and i will happily purchase a buell before harley especially since harley ceo has pronounced how harley has joined the queer woke movement
yuk not for me thanks
Erik Buell does not quit.
Erick Buell is no longer part of the company.
@@viperq well I guess he quit. Quitter!
I owned a couple of Buell's. They'll be out of business in a couple of years. There won't be any place to get them serviced or warranty work done and in a few years no parts, you'll be on your own.
That Super Cruiser is the Ugliest bike to emerge in years, 🙄
😂😂😂this company only exists on the internet... not to mention the Buell name has as much credibility as nothing. Hard pass
Buell might attract the younger crowd looking for a less expensive American cruiser, but no competition for Harley-Davidson.
marcus
Harley is too busy with pronouns and trans parades.
Not to be a grammar cop but it should be IS Buell a threat, not Are.
Ugly frame
They are made by Harley just so everyone knows
Nope not even even a Harley engine
You must be living under a rock, the last Harley made Buell was in 2009.
