Are we not transferring the load from chest to joints bringing in dumbbells during a press. I'd much rather leave the load actually on my pecs during a press and use a cable butterfly or coffin press for inner pec.
Cable fly or press are awesome. The load is still constant on pec in this movement though. As I said in this he has powerlifting background and wanted this as his choice of exercise
If you’re focusing on bringing the elbows together via pectoral contraction and not simply by just moving them in with your hands and forearms then no you can certainly keep tension. It’s almost like slicing your bicep through your pectoral and squeezing in instead of just up..
