Anyone remember building the 5 bay bridge? The first time we built it, it took us almost 50 minutes. The record I heard was 15 minutes by a single Hokkien Peng Combat Engineer platoon. Had my FESC training with the 35 Singapore Combat Engineers in 1993.

so good ...building 5 bay with platoon strengths....so lucky for u and your platoon ...my time only section level for the 5 bay ...and we are faster than AVLB...timing should be below 12minutes.

1975-1978- recruit in 30SCE @ Mandai camp, followed by SOCE@Gillman barrack, I wouldn't say I'm proud to be one , in real life we were merely army labourer, completed 13 years cycled reservist and was converted to infantry soldier... why on earth do we still need Combat Engineer as recruit then fall back desperately short handed since reservist do not requires CE @ all . Waste of energy & resources.

    • @dellamonte387

I agree with you. Worst ever unit in saf. No pride and really run by uneducated idiots. Today modern warfare there is no need for this rubbish engineers. Many ppl that sign on in engineers are actually sissies that hate army life. No camo and use nsf to do the hard labour. Females sign on direct officer, do nothing eye power and collect pay. Unprofessional unit ever
