Played with the mortar before and it was crazy memorable. Thanks Arti Institute for the 3 weeks mortar training course during my reservist many many years ago. Till this day it’s still in my mind.. Will bring the great experience into my coffin with me.

I was FSO/FO TA (runner/spotter) during NS. Part of old 21 SA (M113 SP mortars) which did live firing locally, so I kena BTY/BN EXs on weekdays & followed 1-6 SIR/1-3 GDS EXs on weekends. Even went to Brunei for INF ATEC & raided Tekong once with CDO. My SOC timing improved from 10:30 to 8:05! No way I could stay as fit, so I wisely switched to BNRO/BRO TA (recce/survey) for reservist. We also trained to be FDC/BCP TAs (compute firing data). Very bittersweet moment when SAF upgraded from 2G to 3G just before my unit went on MR, rendering 15 years' training obsolete. But no regrets.

FO's-serious artillerymen. They need to have their heads around the whole mathematics of artillery as well as being able to operate tactically with infantry skills if necessary. They aren't '10 mile snipers' these blokes are right at the front. 2LT Malek would know Waioru quite well I imagine. Thankyou for your service!

i was a gunner in artillery as well. always knew vaguely that there were FOs and such, but we were not educated in these areas. Really wish that lower-ranked soldiers are trained to see the bigger picture too, with more opportunities to grow and develop even as NSmen. That will be a morale booster.

I thought OT strip either 50m (+- 25m)or 100m (+- 50m), depending on angle T. Why need to Left 20 when already fall within OT strip?
Hmm maybe you’re thinking in terms of bracketing procedure for precision registration. In this case, maybe they are prob just guiding the observed one-off round towards the white target area.
Artillery is the scariest unit you can face😂 that's why it's also one of the main target

Lame jokes from the radio dj, pity the Lieutenant who has has tolerate that kind of nonsense. So if the radio dj is signing on for a few days , the Lieutenant should knock him down 50 for every lame joke , lagi best.

@@johnwig285 traditionally the CDO, scouts and snipers wear jungle hat because of the nature of operations that they are involved in. Now all the Tekong and vocational trainers also wear, really devalues the jungle hat

@@ZrayZaiden Eh hello the jungle hat was designed to break away the silhouette of a human head. It was never intended to be unit specific dumbass. Main reason why elite units get to wear them is due to their mission profile, nothing more. Get off ur high horse please.
