The MiG-15bis's flight model feels like it has changed quite a lot in War Thunder's history, it still feels very competitive and significantly better than the Sabres now.
Hey tim, what ever happened to the introductory statements before the bulk of the content. Something like "today we will be checking out the legendary mig-15" and so on and so fourth. That combined with the little musical jingle that would play in combination with the insignia showing up really gave a touch of personality to your videos. I know its insignificant in the grand scheme of things but im just curious i suppose. Keep up the good work!
I ran a few videos with a few different openings, and the current "2 second logo drop, right into the action, with the on-screen table of contents" has the best audience retention. Unfortunately, that's a critical stat that the algorithm requires me to care about. :-\
Nope. The jet engines was a commercial product which was sold to lots of other countries and operators besides the soviets, and everything about their construction and operation was already public knowledge when they were sold. Check out Ed Nash's Military Matters who has a video covering just this topic.
The British government also sold heavy water (cooling plutonium rods) to the Israeli government, that caused caused a hole lot of problems In the middle east going on still to this day.
Awesome review Tim! I've been eager to see your take on the more iconic korea war jets. Now you could maybe do one on the sabre, so you could get a direct comparison right after trying out it's Soviet counterpart, as these two have one of the most interesting matchups in jet fighter history imo.
I agree, the whole "Migs vs Sabers" thing is a really great dynamic. I'm planning to do one of the Sabers in the medium term, but haven't decided which one yet (I've already got a review of the CL-13 up from a while ago, so it'll be one of the American F-86s).
The MiG-15Bis was a pretty good multirole in ground rb back when they still had their 250kg bombs. Which I guess fair for gaijin to remove them because of historical purposes, but it wouldn't hurt to just keep it so the soviet at that battle rating has somewhat of an option for cas (excluding the jet bombers the soviet have)
It's a very very good plane in the hands of a skilled pilot! If I'm not mistaken, one of the few planes that can actually outrun the Fagot it's the Sea Vixen. I have a kinda funny story on a match where a (i presume) was a newbie pilot in the Mig-15 that was chasing me to the deck, and the controls lock set in. Dude went ballistic to the ground. I kinda felt bad for him. Very cool vid Tim!
Its Nice to get a review on an older jet within the new meta with all the flight model and BR changes that happen I hope Tim does one on the F9F cougar sometime in the future.
ahhhh the lazy sunday plane… the easiest early jet to get kills with in all of War Thunder, an absolute pleasure to fly and the lowered BR made it just so much nicer!
Replace the 37mm with another 23mm and give it more powerful hydraulic boosters to fix the role rate, and I would enjoy it and the MiG-17 much more. It's a fun yet challenging jet to play with.
It's one of the advantages of the Lim-5 version of the MiG-17... the unified cannons. Though I have to admit that I struggle with the 17 (or Lim-5) a lot more than with the 15, because of the opponents you have matched up with. But I never claimed to be good at flying. ;)
This is nice and good but what about the mig-15bis ISH? the jousting mig as i like to call it for it has two spears that are used for impaling enemy planes by ramming them in a head on ramming manouver. i have a lot of experience in that plane with hundreds of games in which i have killed like 3 enemies and i think i may have lost my mind and or my soul. i cannot see these aircraft without experiencing a major emotional event (bad)
I believe it literally means "second" or "next" , like "The mig-15, second model". In practice, its usually appended to the final version of an aircraft after development has ended.
Hi Tim, have your ever thought to make videos reviewing an entire nation? So people get to know the tech tree if is worth grinding, new or veteran players? Amazing video btw :D
I both love and hate planes with different bullet/shell velocities For every other nation, it’s a positive imo since you have a bigger margin for error. For Russia it’s a detriment since you have a grand total of 1.5 seconds to shoot
I don't think the cannons have all that much of a different ballistics. I think within 1km there almost the same 🤔 For some reason the Soviet 37mm guns don't have any ballistic coefficent in their datamine files.
I cant use this damn thing. To get kills you have to almost 100% rely on your opponent being basically afk. It is unbelievably easy to fly defensively against the MiG-15
4:12 Tim, bro, don't use airbrakes in this situation, use flaps! Flaps will both slow you down and give you a tighter turn radius allowing you to get an angle much quicker there!
In-the-moment I couldn't remember the rip speed of the flaps, so didn't want to risk it. The little post-it-note I normally use (I fly too many fkn planes to remember them all lol) had fallen off. #rip

So nobody is going to talk about that beauuuuuuutiful rocket snipe at 7:48?
That cheeky rocket kill was great. Excellent video, good information.

The British sale of those jet engines to the Soviets might have been one of the biggest commercial blunders in 20th-century history.
Listen we thought we would be friendly and try to stop the Cold War from the get go...... but yeah we messed up.
@@bigbison6593 Think it’s less that, and more being broke, with jet engines being some of the few things of value that could be sold.

We had lots of deals with the soviets at that time and sharing that kind of stuff was normal. They payed us a lot of money for it.
The British government also sold heavy water (cooling plutonium rods) to the Israeli government, that caused caused a hole lot of problems In the middle east going on still to this day.
it all nice and good untill you see a mig21 taking off next to you

a man of culture i see

Having hungary added made the migs grown on me, really like the skins they get

Very cool vid Tim!
After joining the early cold war soviet jets have really made me appreciate eading my shots so much and I'm grateful for it🎉
i found you chanel week ago and its one of my all time favorite, great video
man i remember when this shit was in 8.7, great review as always 😊

Into another quality vid, thank you Tim!!!
Tim, can we expect a Ho229 or Ki-200 video one day? Cant wait to hear you talk about those
I'll get to them eventually.
Just got this plane for 4 nations (!) plus the regular MiG-15 AND the la-15
ahhhh the lazy sunday plane… the easiest early jet to get kills with in all of War Thunder, an absolute pleasure to fly and the lowered BR made it just so much nicer!
thank you for the great content
Yet another banger review video!

Cool
a lot of people don't know this but the J 2 has an additional optical bomb sight in game
Attack the d point!
Love the plane. Went 0-14 and then 42-1 (TKed by a G91 spamming missiles)
Commited sub here that isnt going to unsub. That is all.

I await the Guide King's review of the MiG-21F-13...
I'll get to it eventually, but it won't be too soon.
Do the F-85-A5 next please!
Been flying the F-86A5 a lot to join the 104 horde lately, full downtiers are just unfair for the enemy.
What does BIS stand for on soviet jets?

Do you think you can make a video on the mig-21 Lazur M?
Yes, but it won't be too soon. I did a few other Mig-21s semi-recently, and I don't like to do vehicles that are too similar too close together.

I love the 15bis, but god the gun balistics are awful to the point where I'd rather have .50 M3 machineguns over it sometimes.
Only plane (MIG15+bis) I couldn't "master". I just do not find a way to learn how to fly it.
What's the NATO name of the MiG-15
