You have a natural talent as an online personality! I would just push forward regardless of self-conscious thoughts, I struggle with the same thing. Either way, I’ll be there whenever you put a book out.

Awwww just watching through your videos. I'm obsessed with your thoughtful and considered reviews and recommendations. I found you a year ago and it's been a blast to watch your videos and in depth analysis. I didn't really read much books but you kind of encouraged me to read them especially the extreme horror ones, cause I'm pretty certain they'll never be adapted into anything. Keep doing the great work!

The Outsiders was a middle school read for me. It’s still a favourite. I’m waiting for my sister to age a bit because I really want to get her a copy but I feel she will get more out of it when she’s a little older. (She’s 10)

The Narrows is great, and I am very happy that this new edition is coming out.
Max Booth III is a wonderful author, publisher, and person.
I have two of Nat Cassidy's books, but haven't read them yet. (I buy, and eventually read, all of the Tor Nightfire books.)
The same as above for C.J. Leede, except I only have one book. Anyway, looking forward to both the Cassidy and Leede books.
    Great video!

joining writing livestreams might help with the motivation you need to work on your novel, especially if you can find a channel that runs them consistently. aside from that, I've found having a low goal, like 100, 200, 300 words per day, really helps!

Record voice memos of stuff your thinking about then go back and build in it at a later time. Or write a snippet of something you're thinking about in your notes or whatever then go back and build. That's what I started doing

Not a routine, but just try writing every day. As a reader you can sometimes start reading a great book and spend all your time reading but making a goal just to write a little everyday helps. 10 sentences of a short story everyday even less if that’s what you have time for. Get a notebook start a story and go at it everyday. It definitely works. 😊( Oh btw Nat Cassidy’s MARY)

I was listening so not sure if the person who recommended reading the book We Used to Live Here added the author or which one. There’s two out there, but if I’m correct I think they meant the one with the white cover just to let you know. I’ve read the red cover one, was whatever. The white cover one I’m currently reading, I also recommend.

It's so sad that you live so far away because you seem like you would be such a cool person to meet. We have a lot in common, it's so crazy. I grew up on Alice in Chains music since I was a baby, and my dad and brother were always watching horror movies. I feel like that's why I grew up liking dark things as well. I've bought like 6 books you have talked about. LOL I'm very much looking forward to reading this months book. I'll start tonight. Love the Q&A!

One graphic novel I'm sure you would love is Ghost World by Daniel Clowes. The film version - made in 2001 and starring Thora Birch, Scarlett Johannson and Steve Buscemi - is also pretty darned terrific too! P.S. The title is deliberately misleading, there aren't any ghosts in it...or are there?

  • @FeralEcho

7:30 Sometimes we could create but choose to do for others instead, feeling we haven’t yet earned the right to invest in ourselves or ask of the world to receive what we create. It can be hard to believe in the inherent value of the self, and that it’s equal to those around us, not contigent upon acts of service to others or tasks we perform which are validated by standard blue/white collar society values. It can feel unbelievably selfish to insist on scheduling regular chunks of time to work on your art. But all of these things, assuming any of them ring true for you, are beliefs that can be challenged and set aside if confronted head on and consistently. If writing really matters to you, it benefits those around you that you do it, as well as yourself, because it’s meaningful self care. And if you create a book, in the end it may add to the lives of others the way other’s books have added to yours. Good luck making the time to write.

Just to put it out there, "based on a true story" does not mean that that story actually happened. It's a marketing device to attract people who like to think that it's based in reality.
"A Perfect Storm" was "based on a true story." Almost the entire thing was made up, and if you watch the film you can figure out fairly easily where they were able to begin inventing things out of the ether, and when they probably had to stop.

Knowing what i do of you, I must say that maybe it's best you have no children as of yet. A nice family dinner with the new baby as the main course is not accepted by the law. But don't lose heart, the way society is devaluing it will be more than acceptable before to long.
