@Ryo22 I supposed you just to used to good grafics at this point that they are no longer impressive, which it isn't something bad. Grafics changes have turned smaller in scale compared to what they used to be back in the day from ps2 to the ps3
This game can look extremely rough and awful on PS5, with extremely poor shimmer and SSR in some places and some very artifact ridden grain, sometimes it does look quite good though.
There's something wrong with FSR. Never seen it behaving like this. Even on PC with post processing set to high there's weird shimmering and flicker. Fingers crossed for a fix soon.
@SOTVT Yeah FSR is poor, same thing with RE4 as well, I think alot of the grain and shimmer especially in the hotel lodge in the town is just the SSR though on console as its using the a low preset and quitea low resolution, I don't notice it much on PC buts thats probably because I'm using Path Tracing and DLSS.
Optimization trash. Doesnt look that better than TLOU remake while having almost HALF the perfomance, considering that TLOU Remake is already bad optimized, then yeah, this game is an optimization mess and something to blame devs about.

i impressed how ps5 stacked up to pc in terms of graphics and lighting, usually, in the games when the lighting relies heavily on rt, devs forget about rasterized lighting causing it to look much worse, but in this game devs didn't forget about regular players without 2000$ gpus and made rasterized lighting look really good, huge respect
All games that have a PS5 version stack up good enough to PC and run great except some messes. There's nothing to improve. The system requirements are heavy enough and this is all they can squeeze out of the PS5's hardware for their engine. The big problem is FSR combined with those low resolutions. It doesn't work well in that case and produces aliasing and artifacting. So, that's it.
8:00 Lol, You say PC has great shadows with RT, not true. Only 4090 has it. 4080 can't do RT high at 1080p even at stable 60 fps without DLSS. What a joke. Joke is from Nvidia that sells RT as a feature but to enjoy it, you need 4090 and that too is just good enough for 2k res not 4k.

@@GoodbutevilgeniusNot specifically in regard to ray tracing but rather dynamic effects in general but I think here is an argument to be made that there are very few benefits in scenarios where static lighting could be used. Why waste a lot of precious time rendering heavy real time effects when you could get almost the same results by pre-baking things like GI giving you that fancy lighting for a negligible performance cost at runtime. Now reflections are a lot harder to pull off convincingly and generally its not really an option in open world games with variable times of day, or dynamic objects and it can take more work to implement so there are most definitely downsides. However I would still argue that there are a lot of games that unnecessarily rely on dynamic effects when pre-baked effects would have gotten the job done just fine.
This is what I expected next gen to look like! More cinematic, more realistic lighting, more film like. Too many games are still going for a super clean, polished look where things look plasticy and flat. I’m enjoying Spider-Man 2, but the character models in some cut scenes and gameplay look terrible and washed out, and it pulls me right out of the experience. Bravo Remedy, real looking forward to this game!

Prove no problem forr pc here... your matching up a 4090 vs a ps5 ? OK... plus reflection in real life are hardly ever have mirror reflection like this... oh dear oh dear oh dear
Yeah, games with good baked GI don't benefit that much from path tracing. If the shadow maps were higher res and better filtered, and the SSR was reconstructed better, it would be hard to tell which was which for any casual observer. More excited for path tracing in games with dynamic times of day or lots of dynamic objects like cyberpunk or Fortnite for example (lumen is pretty good there already)

I'm always happy when there's this super demanding game that comes out that pushes forward what we can expect in some games going forward (the biggie being CP2077, warts and all). I hope the discourse around this is successfully re-aligned from "it's unoptimised!" to "it's just a beast dude, not every game is for every rig"
I don't undersatnd these "PC comparisons" honestly....when the comparison is with a 4090, the best in the business but only 0,5% of the PC players play there... I think that a comparison with a mainstream rig that most people use would be much more logical and would truly show what console gamers lose or not compared to PC.
I'm not sure I'd say PC players are getting a better visual experience than console players. RTX 4080 and 4090 players are getting a better visual experience 😂

I understand the resolution is low and uses upscaling to get a sharper image, but it is cutting-edge technology IMO, I'm impressed by the entire package together. This is the first footage that, for me, says current generation game.
The Northlight engine is quite resource intensive, but also is very impressive, it made the Xbox One perform in ways I didn't think it could be honest.
Doesnt look that better than TLOU remake while having almost HALF the perfomance, considering that TLOU Remake is already bad optimized, then yeah, this game is an optimization mess and something to blame devs about.
from other reviews I have seen, unless you are daft enough and willing to shell out for a 4090 in 2023 along with a fire extinguisher and extra house insurance and use upscaling, then PC gaming is bleak! console version in performance mode look terrible and I would never touch it in 30fps quality mode. what a time to be a gamer! I need a new hobby.
i impressed how ps5 stacked up to pc in terms of graphics and lighting, usually, in the games when the lighting relies heavily on rt, devs forget about rasterized lighting causing it to look much worse, but in this game devs didn't forget about regular players without 2000$ gpus and made rasterized lighting look really good, huge respect
At 847p yes
All games that have a PS5 version stack up good enough to PC and run great except some messes. And some PS5 games have the best visuals in general like Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon FW, Last of Us Remake or Ratchet until they come to PC. That's why I don't get how some PC players play with great rigs on 1080p or 1440p displays when like every game on a PS5 and on a 4K display is better than on a 1080p or 1440p display.
@@weaponcomparisoninvideogam5505 don't focus so much on overall resolution numbers when there is much more to it. Overall resolution does not tell you the texture res and 2 games can be 1440p and it doesn't say anything about the graphics and how good they are and that they are equally crisp.

Lower than low, I guess.
“Console players aren’t missing out by sticking with their PS5 machines”. I know this is his opinion but ummmm…seriously? 😐 He’s just shown there is a huge difference in quality and the amount of graphical features lost in the PS5 version that do drastically change the atmosphere of the game. Sorry but I just do not agree with his statement at all. I’m seriously hoping any upcoming patches or updates will help improve the graphics on PS5 but I won’t hold my breath.
There's nothing to improve. The system requirements are heavy enough and this is all they can squeeze out of the PS5's hardware for their engine. The big problem is FSR combined with those low resolutions. It doesn't work well in that case and produces aliasing and artifacting. So, that's it.
Yikes. If this is all they can manage on a barely three year old console then I think I’ll just watch a play through online.
So ,,, to play this game on a very good quality you need 3000 dollars....cool..
This Nvidia's RT shit has gone too far . Ppl think it's a feature rather than nvidias devious marketing strategies. See Nvidia already making production of 20gb 4080 , even tho the 4080s should have 20gb in the first place .4070ti should have been 16gb . So what about the customers paid absurd amount of money that bought 16gb 4080 version till now . Still people blindly support nvidia😅 They haven't learned the lessons from the failures of 8gb of 3070s few years back

You guys should review the PS5 vs XBSX in this game, as the Series X supports mesh shaders, while the PS5 only supports primitive shaders. For Science, you know!
I see the side by side comparison of Jedi Survivor and the mess shader did not do a thing for the XBox. Especially holding the fps closer to 60.
Yeah because they will sometimes code the game using the least cost path to ensure compatibility. But I wonder because of the performance increase that the mesh shaders provide and it being pushed more so here, if there would be a difference in this game between the consoles@@Crashed131963

a game with no ray traced anything (shadows, ambient occlusion, reflections, anything) should not be struggling to hit 30 fps at a sub 1440p internal resolution. it's simply not acceptable. and DF should not be trying to convince the consumer otherwise.
Exactly! How do they just glance over these issues…?
Wow! The shadows and visuals on PC maxed out are stunning! Looks great on PS5 too.

Not sure why DF is on about here but I have to agree the reflections on PS5 are terrible. I think something that was missed in this video was how impressive the lighting is from a distance looking into buildings. Most games can treat their lighting like a camera does, over exposing the background so that whatever is in close focus can be well lit. But in Alan Wake 2, it brilliantly shows light inside buildings like how the naked eye would. This results in it feeling way more real. I find developers are using ray tracing as a crutch instead of creating great baked lighting.
How can it be a crutch if it provides better results?

I don't undersatnd these "PC comparisons" honestly....when the comparison is with a 4090, the best in the business but only 0,5% of the PC players play there...
