You can re-can pickle relish and pickles from those huge Sam's Club/Costco jars as well as the huge cans of ketchup. Here's a tip for getting canning jars. I checked Auction zip for auctions that have canning jars. I found an auction that had a ton- I called the auctioneer and put in a bid. At the end of the day, the auctioneer called me and I had to drive down immediately to pick them up- it was a long way, away (about a 2 hour drive one way), but the entire back of the pickup truck was boxes stacked double high. I got them for close to nothing- I sent the auctioneer a check and I have been using those jars for years. It took me over 2 weeks to get them all washed and put away-but when it was all said and done I had $0.07, yes, seven cents for each jar. Year and years ago we drove to WV for an equipment auction, they had boxes and boxes of the 1/2 gallon blue ball jars- Yep, we didn't get any equipment, but you can bet, I got all of those blue 1/2 gallon ball jars...and at a steal of a deal too. lol Good video, Tessie!

Blue Mason jars were and still are a big hit with decorators. I have one that belonged to my dearly departed grandmother that dons my mantle. She is everywhere in my house. I think of her daily and remember the lessons she taught me. 🙂

I re canned a big can of chadder cheese nacho sauce yesterday. Learned it from your video where you did the cheese sauce. When l give someone something I have canned. I tell them your only getting what is inside the jar, I want the jar back. And l will hunt you down to get it back. I always get a chuckle out of them. Yes they give me my jar back when they finish using what was in the jar.

Mustard for life! I like to use extra mustard to dip raw chicken in, instead of raw egg, before dipping in breadcrumbs or panko and baking. It tenderizes the meat and it's delicious

I've been very curious about recanning condiments. There are only 2 of us here but my husband doesn't eat any condiments at all. I mean none! Lol! No ketchup, mayo, mustard, barbecue sauce or any type of salad dressing! I still find that mind blowing after 22 yrs of marriage. I on the other hand love all kinds of condiments. My family calls me the condiment queen because I have way more than the average person. They take up a ton of room in my refrigerator but I can't give them up. Well, I hope I never have too. With all that being said I really don't eat much of them per serving. I do buy extras and keep in my pantry but I've never bought those really big containers because I feared wasting them. You had enough mustard in just one of those big containers to probably last me a lifetime. 😜 I appreciate all your videos because I've not seen many folks do this.

I think rescanning is logical and smart. You can buy in bulk which is cheaper but once you open the product you are committed to hurry up and eat it before it goes bad. Recanning solves that and also rations it. You can also barter or give a small container to someone that needs it without giving away the huge amount. You give me do many good ideas girl 😉

My aunt just gave me few cases of pints, jelly, and quarts. I sure needed them. And I told her I would make sure she would get of them refilled for winter.

Great info about not needing the rack in the canner! that makes it a game changer for sure with the smaller jars! My rack is for pints as well.

Hi Tessie. What a great idea! It is just the three of us, but I could give away, trade or make presents. I enjoy making gift baskets. One could be a basket full of different mustards and condiments for picnics. Church could use condiments. These times call for your informative videos. Very handy, especially since I am planning to retire.

I heard somewhere you xan use tin foil too, to put on the bottom if a canning pot, to set jars on when processing.
I also just learned the higher your elevation, the longer you need to process in canner. I am at 2400 + above sea level, so need to can 5 minutes longer than most 😊

Great video. If you ever edit it, it might be best to add one thing-- let people hear what the jars sound like when they seal. That is my favorite part. I may try this with those huge pace salsa bottle. We do not use salsa that quickly.
