    when we was in 6th grade we use pieces of boxes rolled and tied with dental floss dipped in wax for the fire under the can at the botton of can we used tin snips to cut a small square to slide the lit cardboard dipped in wax under the can and a metal juice opener to make a few holes on the sides up top

    Looks good. I don't have a pressure canner only a regular canner. I had stopped canning for many years because I couldn't keep up during homeschooling. I'm just doing it again now. I enjoy it so much and the food tastes so much better. 😁

      I LOVE canning I even have a heart beat thing on the back of my car with a canning jar! Are you going to get back in pressure canning? Or just stay with reg water bath? I like steam canning dont use as much water and makes it easier for me to life by myself!

      @@nessasnook I've never owned a pressure canner. My family did rebel canning everything water bath for all the generations! I never knew any different. I am just finding out the difference this year as I read for myself and not just do what I was taught. So I think I will probably buy a pressure canner next year. When talking to Corey about it he wanted me just to do my regular canning this year and make sure I still liked it before buying the pressure canner. He wanted me to continue rebel canning 😂. Because his family always can that way too and he thinks the stuff tastes better. But I told him now that I know how unsafe it can be I just will not be doing that and especially not with having the channel.

    In our 6th grade Oregon Outdoor school we used the van to cook our hamburger meat for hamburgers we ate for lunch. I believe like another commenter we too used the time can, cardboard, and wax for the candle to cook the meat.
    Token you so much for this video! So much cheaper than the little cans of cheese especiallywhen you already own jars that aren't already filled with foods. ❤

      I am soo glad others got a meal off the cans too :) Yes this for sure is way cheaper than the lil cans and you can make it the way you like it or add or subtract what is in it. If you make some let me know if you love it also thanks for stopping in

    I was in girl scouts we made bunsion burners, best I can remember we used a tuna can and we used cardboard coated with wax as our flame under the can, ours were large juice cans but the ,#10 cans make a larger heating surface. I do believe we used a hand held can opener the pointed kind that is on the end of a bottle opener to punch a few holes in the bottom of the #10 can to allow for air flow underneath so the flame doesnt go out. I hope this helps, Im sure the smaller can candles of today could work especially if they have more than 1 wick.

    • @nessasnook
      @nessasnook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont remember what we used in 6th grade camp Love, but we did the same thing we made eggs on ours. I do save some of the #10 cans to be able to cook on if needed I should of kept some of the tuna empty containers for a lighting source I do have also some of those things you put in those picnic things to help cook things if needed. Great info tho and is there anything you might want to see here on my channel?

    Thank you for your video. I'm learning new things everyday. I'm fixing to recan some cheese i have a couple of questions. Steam canner is water bath right? And do you sterilize the jars in the oven and if so what temperature and also how long do you process the jars in the canner. canner.

    • @nessasnook
      @nessasnook  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually just pull from my dishwasher. I do not put jars in the oven I know a lot of people do. Some will have 2nd container full of jars that were or on a boil. A steam canner is kind of like a water bath canner. I believe it was like 25 min to process maybe 30 I am sure you could go a lil longer for your own personal idea of what you feel is safer. I need to make a new batch I took my last jar yesterday. I have one like this www.amazon.com/Kitchen-Crop-Brands-Canner-Capacity/dp/B0075O2Z34/ref=sr_1_12?crid=2LOAZWZGLBOZZ&keywords=steam+canner&qid=1701712132&sprefix=steam+canner%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-12&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc you can get the ones that are shorter but I wanted stainless steel and I want to be able to use as water bath or big batch cooking like 20 qt big batch I hope I helped Velma

      Sorry to be such a bother, I just finished 9 half pints and have 4 more in the pot. Is it okay if it looks like a couple of bubbles in them. And I have 1that oozed out. I guess I either had to much in the jar or didn't have the lid tight enough. It sure looks pretty though.

    • @nessasnook
      @nessasnook  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would toss the oosed one in the fridge to be on the safe side and I think its almost impossible to get out every single bubble. This is NO bother to me Velma I love you all talking to me and going thru trials with things like I do. It makes this all worth while if I get no comments and no one watches why bother to have a channel right? You will have to let me know the taste when you get your 1st jar cracked open for tasting :)

    You can just build a fire in the ten pound can using little sticks and things. Set your pot on top. Its best if you make a rocket stove from one ten pound can and a vegetable can though. My husband is waiting for a neighbor to use up their food in a 10 lb can so he can have the can and make one. 😂
