That was my first bike as well. Same color, same everything! The sound of that engine brings back some great memories. I was the first kid in my neighbor hood with a bike. By the end of that summer I think we had about 12 kids with bikes. Screaming up and down the streets! Nobody got killed.
One just like this was actually the first one I owned too when I was 12, things were different back then. Lol. I paid $75 for it by mowing the neighbors yard for months one summer, great times.
Man thanks for posting I have had so many good times growing up with this exact bike the sound of the rattly piston two stroke engine . This video has stirred up a lot of memories for me.cheerz 😁
I also had one back in 1974. Brand new, Mine was 1974 suzuki 185 enduro, it was yellow. It had 10 gears ratio, 5 gears for dirt and, 5 gears for road. Good times...
our "first" bikes will always make us smile eh! mine was a Kawasaki KE 175 that dad scored ( the bike was only 10 years old so...) it was mint! low k's not a scratch lol.... we took off the mirrors, turn signals etc., put on some knobbies and ya, i thrashed it for 3 years lol, and while it wasnt a pure mx bike she went good..... and i always had gas when my buddies Elsinore was dry lol, course then i "borrowed " dads saw gas..... DOH ! Im looking into a TC250 , and ended up here lol, cheers from Canada
Brings me back i had one around 2004 ish i drove it around for a summer b4 i killed it and sold it. The power was comparable to my buddys 450 yamaha 4 wheeler. Would skat right along it would. Had the odd speed wobble on dirt. Just give er more juice and it would straighten right back out
oh so many memories and oh so much fun mine never had any lights or front brakes the seat, exhaust pipe and fuel tank were all wired in place oh and the swivel part on the kick start but what a fantastic bike it just wouldn't die
Love those old 70's bikes! My first bike was a 1975 Kawasaki F11 250. I'm actually looking at a silver 74 TS 185 to buy, which is why I clicked on the video 😎. Thanks!! Fantastic bike!
definitely buy it! These things will only be going up in value! I've got mine sitting in the basement now. When I get some time in the future I'm going to go through the whole thing and rehab it
@@zadokmotorfreight2423 I mainly bought this old ts185 because it was literally identical to the first one I owned when I was a kid. Couldn't pass it up especially for the price
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow just getting back into bikes, my son bought a little Yamaha XT 250 last summer. It's a better bike than I would've thought! A couple of friends ride older trail bikes and I'm not even going to try to resist the temptation haha! I'm looking the most for either a Yamaha DT 175 or a Suzuki TS 185 cause they seem to be a good balance between weight and power. I'd consider other bikes too though.... I'm hoping to find something before spring when the prices go up.
New subscriber, working through your videos. You have on of the best channels. I just bought a 74 TS 185! In Running condition. Taking it camping in NY state this coming weekend. New chain and sprockets, brakes and battery.
I would guess about $1200 to $1500 because of how original it is. But it has enormous sentimental value to me since its identical to the first bike i ever owned!
Yes they are if you have a title. As long as you don't plan on cruising on the highway at all. This would only really be good for local and back roads.
@@Toma_Sucin awesome. Good luck in your search. The only place I could think that maybe they're not street legal is California. You know with all their emissions rules and everything. And the fact that it's a 2 stroke
I'm 64 and this 2 stroke sound is music to my ears!!
I had one like this at around 14 myself. My dad bought it for me as my first bike and it was cool. Back then in early 90s he bought it for 200 bucks.
Me too, I paid 80.00 for mine back in the 90s.
Man I love these old school Japanese enduros, so hard to find now, back in the 80s I had many! Thanks for the memories!

I recently nabbed a 78 ds185 off market place for 900 as my first bike! A lot fun to cruise around on! Has been good for learning!
Nice! Sounds like a great buy.. Definitely loads of fun
Cool, my first bike was a TS90
Sweet! Great bikes
I had the '75 model, used to do 1/4 mile wheelies every day on it, haha. I would pull her up in 2nd and shift thru 5th before bringing it down.
remember back in 70's would drive one back in pa mountains on farm do remember disconnecting one wire on ignition switch to hot wire it
My first bike also back in 1979 was a 1977 TS185 👍
Sweet deal! That thing rips like hell! I'll lube the rpm cable to avoid that wild needle from going nuts
Ryan Blanco Haha thanks. I tried lubing the cable, it turns out the tach casing on the back is actually broken where the tachometer cable goes in.
I had one of these when i was 14
had same bike ,same color , Also my first bike was the 75 tc 185 red , and i had a 77 , Nice ride was looking for that other gear lol

Beautiful bike
900 bucks is dirt cheap long live suzuki ts185🤠 watch out for the cops
Whooooo. Hooooo! I have one myself.
$900 was a bargain. It would be $3500 in the UK [2022]
Way cool!!!!!
How fast does it go max?
Did you ever do any work on it and if so what website did you order your parts from? I got one for 30 bucks and it needs a lot of work
No I haven't really done any work to this one. I usually use eBay for stuff like this
How many times Dose it shift I have the same one it only goes up twice I wanna make sure mines not broken lol
It's a five-speed. Is that even with the engine running yours only goes up twice?
That was none running we got it going it's mint lol
