      @@danielg335 If you think he's not as good as he is, then you may say he's not underrated. But by the overall rock audience, he is always forgotten in a "best guitarists" list.

    • @chadbennett7873
      @chadbennett7873 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That is simply because none of the music critics of the time or any time could comprehend what he was doing. He simply played stuff nobody else played.

      Not trying trying to be argumentative here mate but it's easy (and understandable) to get carried away with wanting our favs to be thought of as the "best", and while Green is a fine guitarist by any standard he's not in the same class with, say, Fripp or Holdsworth. His problem, if problem it was, is that Gentle Giant could never really escape their relative anonymity into the same tier of recognition that Crimson and other prog bands achieved, thus Green was doomed to be one fifth of a great band that never received its due. Regardless, this had no bearing on how he played, consistent and capable to be sure, but probably not one of the game-changers. Cheers!@@chadbennett7873

    The Hydrostatic Principle of Controversy imposes that all discussion lowers to the level of the least informed, namely critics and other listeners, while there is simply no accounting for taste. GG was kindred to Gong in that either you got it, or you didn't.

      Its just they way they went about music, they chose the planned and practiced route rather than the jammed and improvised route. Its better this way haha, trying to improvise over some of these changes would be crazy
