For everyone that loves listening to Hall and Nash talk about the business, they were taught by Curt Hennig. They always said it was Hennig that opened their eyes to the smart way to see the business. Bret chose to live in the celebrity of his last name which kept him from seeing things in perspective, kept him a “mark” for himself as Hall/Nash always said, but he could really wrestle.
Go listen to how Scott Hall talked before his Razor gimmick and then how he talked for the rest of his life after the Razor gimmick and tell me who the mark was.
The way him and Hogan see their “wins” as personal achievements is weird to me. I understand taking pride in putting on a great show. Buy the wins are scripted, so why take soooo much pride in that part of wrestling? It’s the show that matters not the “win”.
Scott Hall sounds like an incredibly solid dude. He is great at reading people, and Bret sounds like a narcissist and Scott was repulsed. Love hearing Scott Hall's perspective on many things.

He was only there one month or two months out of the year and his wife got lonely. She liked having pictures of him on the walls. Scott definitely has a leg to stand on here. I think his mockery is borne out of a different outlook on the business. Bret grew up on wrestling and it was his life and as such he took it very, very, very seriously -- in Scott's eyes that worked to his detriment. Personally I think it's part of what made him so great .... double-edged sword I suppose ... Scott was able to let loose and be entertaining without staking his happiness on wrestling. He strikes me as the kind of guy who enjoyed stardom but didn't need it and would still be happy doing his thing and having a few beers after a show if it disappeared on him.

He won the tag titles in AWA, MY GOODNESS WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! I guess that means they’re JUST AS GOOD as the Road warriors and the Steiners according to you, Lmao what an asinine comparison. The road warriors and Steiners won Tag titles in EVERY promotion they stepped foot in so I’m not sure where you were going with that. The only other championship accomplishment he had was in Puerto Rico winning their world championship, which is never mention because it’s such an insignificant accomplishment that it might as well have never happened. Scott coming from those territories to the WWF at the time and being launched into the IC title picture was a HUGE step up, but apparently you think winning a tag title in the AWA is just as big of an accomplishment?? Lmao c’mon bruh, I know you don’t believe that.
I think most people just misunderstand Brets "mark" like ways. Wrestling is sacred to him. He sees his accomplishments as a wrestler as honoring his father and family. Most people who got into wrestling didn't grow up in it, and weren't doing it to make their father proud
Lol

I also saw Bret vs. Owen in their cage match at Summerslam in 94. It was a great match and both guys gave great effort. Give me the guy who takes wrestling "too seriously" any day!

Scott definitely has a leg to stand on here. I think his mockery is borne out of a different outlook on the business.

This was where Hall and Nash lost major respect for Bret. They were invited to Brets house for a party and every room was some major shrine to Brets "greatness" in prowrestling and they went wow, what a joke and huge mark for himself.
If you're Mike Tyson you would imagine that he has at least one room in his house dedicated to his career with title belts and pictures, general memorabilia. Stuff like that. But it's true, Bret is a huge mark for himself and took the business extremely seriously. For better or worse.
