Thank you for the video. Very nice ornament, well made. My only critique however, for those that don't have an xTool laser, there was a lot of time spent discussing all it's features, not to mention a great deal of time in this video discussing reverse image (invert). Anyone that is remotely familiar with photography or seen a film negative understands the concept.
I know a way to make your ornaments look 100 times better. It has nothing to do with your settings. The images look great. It is the shape of the ornament. I just went through this very thing this week for a museum. They asked for an ornament that is round with a hole in it. What I gave them was an ornament that is shaped more like the profile of your typical ball ornament. I got a text from the customer telling me that the ornament looked 100 times better made that way. The thing is, you can cut the same size ornament out of the same size material. No more holes in grandma's head! If you have a way for me to send you a picture, I will be happy to send one of the ornament I make.
@mzsbjones2943 I have a Cloudray CR7050 CO2 laser and a Cloudray 50 watt fiber laser. I use LightBurn software. I do not have a TH-cam channel. Maybe I should, but I don't have the time right now to put together a proper video. Since you have a GlowForge, I would suggest going on a forum that caters to GlowForge since I am not familiar with their product or their software.
I love this. I'm wondering can you engrave the x tool envelope necklace insert with a photo face , I have a f1 and would love to make some for Christmas presents.
You can engrave like this on metal. I don't have the settings unfortunately. You will not get the black and white look. Also, since it's the f1 it will be slow and the metal will get hot.
I tried this today on 4 inch black acrylic disc from Amazon. Ran same settings with IR laser on my Ultra and nothing showed up. Tried multiple times each time no engraving at all. Any ideas or assistance is appreciated and thank you in advance
@@ebpman Do you have a general idea of what the settings would be? I'm totally a newbie here! I've had my machine almost 3 months and just plugged it in today and did my 1st phone stand.....lol. This is the type of work that I'm most interested in making for people. I love that there is emotion behind the creativity that shows in the final product.
Excellent quality. Will a CO2 laser produce equally sharp detail? A lot I've seen has been "muddy" looking and unimpressive. This... is very impressive. Thx Jeff
Another great tutorial. I just wish you could take the time to answer questions, I have asked questions on many of your videos (even tried messaging you) and never got a response!
I recently purchased an F1, then had a horrible experience with their customer service. I love fiber lasers but I wouldn’t buy from Chinese xtool again.
Great video! I'll give this a go very soon! I'm still trying to get used to my F1 Ultra!
thank you so much, i have been messing with these for a few weeks. It was one small setting that i was missing! i got it now!

What machine do you use? Do you have a tutorial? I’m a glowforge newbie looking for all the suggestions I can get.

I wanna see!
Could I get a picture and some info about your ornament. Looking to make memorial keepsakes for my family
Good morning and thank you for sharing this video. Can I achieve this using the the Xtool S1 with the 1064NM IR laser?
Sir, I wish I could shake your hand. This video helped me out tremendously thank you so much
Glad I could help!
thumb up for F1 settings :D
I tried with black opaque acrylic but the engraving came out brown/dirty gold color. Is that my setting or just the opaque acrylic! ?
So if I purchase the black acrylic from the Amazon link, it will engrave white on its own? I don’t need to prep the black acrylic?

Great question, I was wondering the same thing too!!!😊
Thank you
There is a spray that you can use that will mark only what you engrave so you can have more contrast on metal

Your link brings me to 3.5 inch clear acrylic. Isn’t it supposed to be black? Can you post a link to the black 3.5” please
Great tutorial. Could this also be done with a diode laser? Example Xtool D1
Do you have s1 settings? I have the 40, 20 and IR
Can this be done with a regular f1?
Can I do this with the XTool S1?
@@beekey30 with the ir module yes.

Great video, you never mentioned your frequency setting. Did you kept at 30?
@@ozziesoto2955 yes. Never changed the frequency
we are getting a UV laser soon , will this work with a 5w machine?
@@ToddMoore1 yes. Which one. I have two uv.
Can this be done with the S1 40w?
I know it will work with the 2w ir. But I have not ran it on the s1. The settings will beed to be adjusted but everything else should apply.

depends on laser and dot size
So I can’t do it all on the P2?? So I have to spend another 4 f’n thousand dollars?
@@patriotwoodworker6092 I havent tried with p2. It's powerful too powerful for me. I use it as a cutter and engraver
Fantastic tutorial!!! Thank you. But why is yours a beautiful white and mine turns out Sepia colored? (On F1Ultra)
two things. Acrylic and Laser. Are you using the IR? If so then did you get the same acrylic?
@ must be my Amazon precut acrylic. Thanks 😊
Can this inversion technique be done with a glowforge?
Good question. I don't have a glow forge but I have seen acrylic engraved like this.

The big problem comes when people send you their photos. Quite often, they are not very good for engraving, unlike your sample.

Why do you have to pay for credits if it’s part of the software? Don’t they have an AI option in the software which is free?
OMG how many times to you think you have to explain that invert means black is white, white is black
