We have adult children that have invited us to stay through the storm in their block homes. We will not attempt to stay on a mobile home if the hurricane is worse than a Cat 1. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks for your prayers for Florida. I will post an aftermath video to keep you updated.
Hi Debbie. If things get destroyed can you use shipping containers to live in and storage? Or do your local authority not allow this? also they can be secured to the ground or even put soil over them which would insulate from heat and cold. The main thing is they are fairly difficult to damage and fairly cheap, especially if they can't be used for shipping anymore. If you're home does survive then a few shipping containers placed by your home could help protect it.. They make great sheds and get hot in summer (we are in the UK) which can be used for drying, a turf roof can cool thing's. I saw a comment about insurance.. Mentioning it within the video as you have is the best way but there's an argument that when you get a decent number of subscribers an Outlying video on a non core subject doesn't matter so much. Having a second companion channel to put nonniche content is feasible.. Do the same name with the word Extras and put links.. making people aware on your main channel is key as a good percentage will subscribe then you just need watch hours.. It also means you can have fun and post anything that doesn't break the rules. I watch "Ryan Hall y'all" weather channel.. Exhurricane Storm Kirk is about to hit France and draw cold weather into the UK.. then the others will get here.. Here's something.. Lolo Rosso .. seems to be less attractive to slug's and snails.. it might be because they are not bitter. Lots of other things for another time. Kindest regards Bella 🐈 & Mark.
New subscriber here, & Praying for you, I am on the Southeast Coast we moved up out of Broward after Wilma years ago, and I thought at that time we would move out of Florida. God had other plans for us to later Foster and adopt a son in Palm Beach County where we ended up. The trailers even across a main street from us are supposed to evacuate but, my daughter and I were wondering if they even heard with everything on the news about where Milton is coming on if they even know to go to a CBS structure if they can. 😢🙏🏼
I understand your reasoning for no home insurance. Been there, done that. Stay safe and good luck today. Being from Canada, I'm one of those closing out my garden for the winter.
Wishing you all the best. I am from a different country far away from you, just watched your channel and my heart goes out for you. Thinking about you.
Greetings all, I agree with you on the insurance and the joke they play on us. File a claim and get canceled, all the years of money paid in is gone. I pray for everyone that is being affected by the storms. Stay Safe,Healthy and Blessed! 💞💞💞
You’re right and that’s a lot of money we’re out in to not receive anything or enough when we file. we used to pay insurance for protection but they are canceling us once we claim.
I understand and agree with you about insurance. We had a insurance claim last year due to damage to our home from a storm and recently received notice that our insurance carrier will no longer insure us for the future. Stay safe. Thoughts and prayers for all.
Yes, it used to be "replacement value" then degraded to value of home. Well that is debatable and I know they would not give much for a 40 year old mobile home.
I think your insurance logic makes perfect sense. Self-insuring works when you don’t have a mortgage and don’t own a McMansion. The insurance companies won’t pay up, even after subtracting the ridiculous hurricane deductible. You’d go broke trying to sue them, so they know they can get away with it. By saving that $200. per month you could purchase a used, replacement mobile home with cash or a minimal personal loan. Owning your land also makes it possible to get a mortgage & build a new home, if you decided to do that instead. God bless & I hope your garden survives this next storm.
You are correct There really is no reason to have insurance if the coverage will not be sufficient to replace. We had to fight over a year for a simple shed fire. They found excuse after excuse not to pay. Had to lawyer up. Very stressful time. It is better to put resources into a savings for that emergency. Praying your home remains in place.
Hello Debbie. I just discovered your channel and glad that I did. I have been an organic gardener for 35 years and have enjoyed it immensely. I live in Texas in the Texas hill country. Plus, I am a retired catastrophe insurance adjuster who spent many years working in Florida beginning in 2004. I think your decision to discontinue insurance is wise. One of the heartbreaks I encountered as an adjuster was exactly what you explained about not receiving enough to replace the building. This is in relation to people our age (I am 10 years older than you) who were left essentially homeless after a hurricane destroyed their trailer. My first experience with that was following Hurricane Charlie in 2004. I hope that you have not received damage to your property. Back to gardening, I am currently working on a book titled, The Last Word for the Home Gardener, Unlocking the Secrets of God's System of Agriculture. It has come out of a teaching on organic gardening I prepared for new Master Gardeners and a review of the 6 days of creation found in Genesis. That''s enough for now, I will look for videos on your channel post Milton. Blessings. Tex Lang
We do have health insurance because it comes with social security. We never did until then. It actually may be better for your health! Less unnecessary medications. We are very healthy so I know that is pretty controversial. We never had it for our seven children either and there was never any need for it. We paid cash for doctor visits, which were rare.
First time I've seen peanuts growing! Or sweet potatoes! Here in Scotland, north UK these things are only seen in the shops 🙂 We'll just be getting the tail-end of the hurricane this week. A bit of a chill and lot of rain or snow. I might put some more heavy wood on my greenhouse roof to stop any of the plastic panes blowing out. Having a torch/flashlight, wind-up radio and couple of charge packs ready is useful. Fingers crossed!
Florida insurance is crazy high. Like you our home is lien free but most of our net worth is tied up in our home. It is a block and stucco home with hurricane rated roof and I just can’t take that chance. We are far enough from the gulf that we aren’t concerned with storm surge and flooding. Thanks for sharing
I'm in Plant City. Far enough inland and not near water but our yard will most likely be under several inches of water because the ground is saturated.
new Subscriber. Prayers for safety from the hurricane 🙏 Great tips on how to keep freezer food frozen longer. What kind of single burner hotplate do you have for power outages? Best wishes for you and your family and everyone in the hurricane path 🙏 Take care … stay safe. Like 133 👍
Hang in there. I cannot imagine what a hurricane passing by woudl feel like. I once had a tornado pass over when I was working in Canada. It was not a pleasant experience. I landed on your chanenl because of the "is youtube worth it" video, and decided to flip through a few of your videos. I do have some observations which might (!) help you. Once the Milton stress has subsided, let me know if you are open to hearing them. And no, I am not selling any courses; just thoughts from one medium channel to another ;). Let me know where I can reach you.
We have friends who have been fighting with their insurance company for 11 months. The insurance has been paying for them to live in rentals the whole time. They have finally given up and settled for whatever they can get. They tried to hire an attorney but were told that it is pretty much impossible to win because the insurance company has the money to fight you, and an affordable attorney doesn't have the resources to win your case.
There is supposed to be an option by or with the share button. It may not be available for everyone. Thank you and that's very nice. I have never gotten a super thanks, so I honestly am just sharing what I read online:)
Oh Debbie I'm so Thankful to FATHER GOD you all are safe. I'm praying 🙏 FATHER GOD will dissolve that Hurricane or turn it away from Florida IN JESUS NAME AMEN AND AMEN ❤😊
Prayers for you and all of Florida!🙏🏻

I hope you will be safe and survive.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you from Germany. 🙏
How stressful. Best luck to you. Be safe and keep us posted. Many people are dropping their insurance.

Glad you are safe. No. Insurance isn't crazy just put that money in a high return savings. It'll pay more than an insurance company
Nope not crazy just pay yourself and make some interest on your $ blessings!
What town? I am in Winter Garden, west of Orlando. Hang on!
I'm praying with you. Jesus calmed storms on the Sea of Galilee. He can keep us safe through a hurricane.
