Thank you for this honest and authentic video. I’m so sick not only of big TH-cam gurus, but also about these starting TH-camrs who spam us with new trend videos « how TH-cam changed my life » and « it is worth it ». And they’re doing these videos not because it really worth it, but simply hoping that these particular videos would attract lots of views and help them to get monetized.

Please don't give up on your channel! Sadly, the way the world is going, people could be flocking to your channel as the supply chain implodes and the food gets scarce. I know that sounds completely negative and I'm sorry, but we never know what the future holds.
One thing that I just learned that most people overlook is this: Go into your YT Studio on a desktop, click on your settings and find the tab where you list your keywords. Put the keywords in there that reflect your channel. It makes a big impact to have that filled out. Hope that helps and good luck!😊

I’ve had a channel for a while now and am not monetized as I do not have the watch hours yet. I want to keep people interested but at the same time I do need to make them longer to try to achieve those watch hours, which is a high number! For now I’m staying positive and going to continue my channel because I like people, I like sharing what I do, but as soon as it becomes, not fun… Then I’m done. Maam speaking about 6 minutes into the video. Does not matter if it is winter for us who live in it. We plant in the summer. So even if you have sun and heat longer then us, it is still relevant to us. Some people actually plan to create a garden in the summer and come looking for foresight. It gives us a good job on ideas and know how to learn to start before hand. So don't think it is out of season. Many people who build cabinets actually need the instructions before we start to build it. So it is with many who are gardening. New sub*

We were only a very few miles north of Georgia border, so it'was nothing more than just rainy weather. Nothing like I experience in Florida. When we left 2 days later, we were shocked at the news. It wasn't bad where we were and also not a lot of damage as we left the mountains. So weird.

When I moved into my senior building I was told these seniors are worse than teenagers and WOW that statement was true. Those that DON'T have much to do keep up the most MESS. I'm not monetized but I'm still enjoying what I do and it gives me something to do.

Thank you for this information. This is the first video of yours I have watch as it just came across my feed since I seek a lot of gardening videos sporadically. This was a great video about the truth about video monetization and if it was worth it.
I would say don't try to seek to do the hot topics, take your time and enjoy your semi-retirement, when something comes up you feel the need to share, then that is the best information to share. Some of your gardening can still apply to those in the rest of the country, worst case they just have to wait until their season matches your current weather to attempt some of the gardening. I personally have a sealed off room that we use as a greenhouse in the winter time to keep plants that are sold as annuals here (Northern Virginia) but can last years if they are kept out of the cold, so we let them go dormant in the winter and keep the heat above 50 in that room (have still had lemon trees blossom in January for us, though no fruits since we didn't pollinate the flowers.
Have fun and enjoy things and just show what you can about the gardening, even the background bits can be useful for people, my kids love that we have "pet worms" since we have some vermiculture towers now to compost food waste and get the natural fertilizer they produce.

Hi Debbie... this video popped up when I opened my YT page this morning, so maybe it's just taking a while for them to get your videos out there! I have watched several TH-camrs, and you might be right -- with your weather for outdoor gardening, you may need to branch out and do videos on other topics... gardening-related (maybe some indoor gardening... I was looking into growing potatoes indoors today, but don't have enough hours of sun), or retirement-related, or age-specific ladies' interests, or cooking with what you grow, etc. Keep up the good work! Edited to add: I love doing organic gardening (even for my flowers) and eating organic when possible. With the world as crazy as it is right now, I think it's important that we all grow a little something that can lighten the grocery budget. We're currently in a condo, and 2 years from retirement (when hopefully I can move to a single-story house with a garden patch), but I still grow some herbs, lettuce, peppers and occasionally tomatoes on our deck. We're in zone 5... can stretch to 5B.

I have a very small family but part of a very supportive community. It took me over a year to monetize, I have published more than 400 videos, and I have yet to have one that took off but that is fine. I do not do You Tube for the money. It does not pay enough unless you get very big and do memberships. I do it as a way of giving back to my community. I recommend if a person needs money, get a part time job, it will pay you far more than what you will make on You Tube. If you want a fun hobby and be part of a community and are doing something you love, then You Tube is for you. Just like people who sale home made items. Everyone makes money except the person at the bottom doing all the work.

I’m near the Daytona Beach area. Have tried gardening on the patio of my condo without much success. Everglades tomatoes were my only real success. Unfortunately, I don’t really like cherry tomatoes. Lol. I tried parthenocarpic cucumbers after I failed hand pollinating (serious lack of bees). Just thought I’d let you know what one of your subscriber looks like. 71year old, former Indiana gardener who can’t even keep a potted lemon tree alive in Florida!, Deb

Thank you for sharing! That's really funny about the Everglades tomatoes. If they were an animal, they would be called intense. I don't grow a lot in pots but the biggest thing I can advise is to make sure your soil is truly soil for pots. It's lighter and usually needs frequent watering.

I feel the same way, I have the subs but not the views and some videos do really well, others I get minimal views. It's really hard to know what people want and I don't want to click bait with titles to trick people to come to my channel. I believe if you continue to be authentic, the right audience will eventually come

Hi there :) Thanks for your testimony. 1st time seeing you. I've been doing this for 3 + years, over 500 videos, and my subscribers are FINALLY GROWING PAST 560 subscribers. I just wanted to say HELLO :) and suggest to create ANOTHER CHANNEL (2nd) for your crocheting.
PS, I also have five other channels.
Looking forward to being monetized soon :-) hallelujah

Because people want to see BullShit on these platforms.
They don't want to see educational stuff or things to live a quality life.
    I noticed BS gets views.

Cool video, thanks so much for sharing. I’ve been doing this for almost 5 years, and I’m about 250 Watch hours away from being monetized, and I’ve never had a gigantic video yet. Just a good consistent and organic collection of people who show up pretty consistently to my videos. I do it mainly because I love it, and it’s good practice for my actual filmmaking, as I am a narrative filmmaker. I don’t Vlog, but I kind of use my channel as a diary as well. Just to document my life. I’m really curious to see how much money I’m gonna make when I get over the edge, because I haven’t had any gigantic videos, but if I can make a few hundred dollars every month, that would be awesome, and if it’s more than that, that would be more than awesome, but it’s not gonna change the way I approach TH-cam.I just subscribe to your channel, I eat pretty much like a science project, and so this is interesting content for me. Thanks again. And best of luck as you continue your journey. :-)

I wish more people would experience what you have accomplished. Then, maybe then, people would realize how difficult business is in the United States. Too many of us believe that every store is making money hand over fist, every corporation is paying their CEO zillions of dollars.
Simply ask printers how long a typical new business lasts... Eighty % of the Yellow pages used to turn over every five years.

Yeh. Only 6% of TH-camrs ever get monetized. Just SIX percent. Pretty absurd when you think about it.

People who think they will earn with TH-cam don't recognize that they are just waiters and waitress' working in Hollywood.
