The thing I love most about Cambodia was not the food but the people. I love all the people of Southeast Asia. But I especially found the Khmer to be the best people of all of SEA especially after what they went thru at the hands of Khmer Rouge. Back when I lived in SEA I had to sneak into Burma, Cambodia & Laos because Americans weren't to well liked back then. Plus these countries hadn't opened up to the world yet. I also loved the food of SEA too. But for me in all my travels it wasn't exotic food or beautiful geography. It was the people that made me return...always
Love this video David. I loved Cambodia and the food were so cheap. All the ancient temples were beautiful. The Khmer history is very amazing how big that Empire was back then.
Must try: Papaya salad: Bok lahong Phnom Penh/ Nam Vang noodle soup Morn dot: grilled chicken with chillies sauce Amok Prohok Nom banhchok: khmer style vermicelli ... From KL.
I think your video is the best in term of Siam Reap . You captured the nightlife etc. Nightlife is the best when it comes to travelling bcoz it nice & cool especially in Asia.
Hi from Sydney, I’m Cambodian .. you have to try dishes like .. Amok fish with rice. Phnom Penh noodles soup. Cha mee gar Tung (fried rice noodles with a meat and veggie gravy sauce). Pra hok tkiss served with rice and vegetables. Mee gork (like a mi goreng but better). Cambodian hot pot “yaw hon” in khmer. Our grilled Pork, egg, pickle and rice. Deep fried quails served with pepper salt and lime juice, eaten with rice. Sweet and sour deep fried fish served with rice. Sweet and sour stir fry shell fish served with rice. Lemongrass stir fry chicken served with rice. Cambodian version of banh mi. Cambodian lemongrass beef skewers with cassava bread and pickled papaya. Cambodian congee. Theres plenty more delicious dishes too.. Our papaya salad and lok lak rice you chose is great too 🙌 Happy travels
the dish normally eats with fish sauce drizzled on top and mix it very well with the noodles coz it tastes good. this is how the dish means to be eaten but each to their own as long as u enjoyed it.
You filming Siem Reap very good town , I’m watching TH-cam video channel from San Francisco California. I really enjoy your video so much. The food very cheap and hotel very cheap too .
I'm going to be there in 6 days time though arriving in phnom penh in 4 days. Carnt wait to try all this street food. Goes to show there is more than just pub street when it comes to food as you have just shown that & I'm excited. With me though I will be ordering my drinks first then eat. Really don't know how people do it eating a meal without taking a drink. I think I'm going to be putting on weight when I'm there lol thanks great video
It’s not exactly Loc Lac, but in English/Vietnamese it’s considered Loc Lac. We actually call it Bistek 😅 Loc Lac is actually the one with cube beef, but both should be serve with lemon, salt and black pepper sauce.
@@davidkhai Too me it is unusual. The Lok Lak I grew up with and with all the Khmers I knew, doesn’t seem to have all these additional ingredients and much drier. As with almost all of Khmer dish, the star ⭐️ of the dish are the dressings/ sauces and the add-one which caters to individual tastes. Dressing/ sauces and add-ons are a must in the Khmer dishes, but it something I’m not seeing in videos or street foods or may be it’s fading in the culture and tradition - I’m an older generation.
Woah im shook that the papaya salad is 2$ and so little. In phom penh u can definitely get twice as big for the same price. But i get it, tourist spot.
Who have professional cook live the hotel restaurant or something And most people selling BBQ or other food things on street they are not used to Chef used to work from restaurant cooking from before . sometime they just want to earn money even they never had experience in grillings or something That's why you see the way they do as like they are not familiar at this work like I said they see the chance to earn money so they have to start sell some sausage grill or other stuff on street .but yes there is some a quite good experience chef who finished their work from some hotel and start their own business on street like that but not mostly
Khmer food that's not only loclac or Amok twenty to thirty more kind usual not show the street food because it's good dish that made customers waiting long time only cook in the house but not show or sell on the street at all what made tourist know for Is only afews dish on street and tourist known along eachother that's it that's why everyone misjudged they thought Thai food are best in south East Asian country no that's not correct
All Khmer food the organising and the colour look pretty similar look not attractive but the tasted inside them you need to live long time in Cambodia until you know
Bro couldnt even tip .50 people needa remember this there career. If your gunna go visit it goes along way with .50 tip or $1 or $5 dont matter they appreciate it. But in the states yall tippin big companys and some lazy waitress 10+ dollars for nun
Thats the first time ive seen beef loc lac that wet lol. Im Cambodian, the beef loc lac we has we has a dip for it, and ive never seen papaya salad with pork in it either. So i must say that it quite different than what im use to. But vendors have their own style

As a Cambodian, I am really happy and honored to hear such words from a foreigner. Cambodia welcomes you anytime my brother!
Food in Cambodia is a bad joke. They are supposed to be Buddists, and dead animals= meat is everywhere. What blatant hypocrisy! GO VEGETARIAN!
Thanks for vlogging all the cool spot going to Siem Reap in January
Enjoy your trip!
He needs to be in the live action One-Punch Man.

That’s an unusual Lok Lak. Should also be served with lemon and ground pepper.

every place has USD, you didnt want Riel as change and she didnt have USD as change. But the currency is USD first, riel second (usually as change)

Hi 🇰🇭🙏❤you
bạn nói tiếng Việt được không. Ở Phnom Penh rất nhiều người có thể nói tiếng Việt nhưng ở Siem Reap thì không nhiều
I can speak Vietnamese, and I did see a lot of Vietnamese speaking people in Phnom Penh :)
It's weird watching food channels and I understand the language.
I guess you eat Lot Chha, the fry noodle, incorrectly. You’re supposed to pour that sauce all over the dish otherwise the taste would just be bland.
We just preferred soy sauce over that sauce to be honest
anyway, Hocho-Late bro ! 😛
