The problem with a prequel is that it inevitably doesn’t match up and just brings up even more questions. People will make an entire movie off of a few throwaway lines of a popular series. All this needs to be is a montage flashback seen during the credits of one of the movies. That would be awesome. You can’t recast Billy and Stu because of their ages. They should just leave it alone and never make a prequel.
I think instead of a movie, the prequel should be a limited series graphic novel. This would allow the early timeline of Scream to be told without the worry of it bogging down screen time or having to bring back/re-cast actors.

I would love if there was a prequel series about scream maybe called Woodsboro. Like it should explore everything that happens leading up to the original movie. Like Maureen and her affair, Mrs.Loomis leaving her family, Casey and Stu's relationship and Casey's her interactions with the group (Sydney, Tatum, Billy, Randy etc.) Roman trying to reunite with Maureen (and getting rejected), Roman showing Billy the evidence of Maureen's affair, and Billy and Stu plotting the murder spree. Come on we are in the age of remakes, reboots, decades later sequels etc so why not? I would rather see that than Scream 2022 honestly.

What's covered in this video is enough to make a 2 hour movie IMO. Starting the film with Roman growing up in an orphanage and having an obsession with his origins, first act would be his origins so lots of Scream 3 references like Sunrise studios, Hollywood etc. and he goes to Maureen then the second act would be a bitter Roman upon being rejected wants revenge then he meets Billy... Then having Maureen's death as the end of the second act... Then have the 3rd act deal with the path to the beginning of Scream including Billy, Stu and probably Roman settling down on a Ghostface costume and tie right to the very beginning of Scream...

Stu was already unsettled. Remember when she went up in the attic? There was weird stuff in stus attic. Like dolls with nooses. Thus shows he was disturbed since he was a kid. How was it October? I don't recall seeing fallen leaves
Having the back story fleshed out like this is really nice and I think it adds to the depravity that Billy and Stu had without hurting the legacy they left in Scream, which is perfect. The only disagreement I have is why Maureen was having multiple affairs. I don't think it was necessarily because she was lonely, though that may have been one of the reasons. I took what Milton said about Maureen back in Hollywood, what "destroyed her" so to speak, as a sexual assault. I think that caused her a lot of trauma. I think she moved back to Woodsboro and met Neil and tried to play that role of prefect wife, like nothing happened. I think that might've worked out okay for her for a while, but her trauma started to eat away at her and maybe that's why she started sleeping around, trying to find a way to take back what happened to her. Maybe she was trying to prove to herself that she wanted these encounters to happen and was trying to bury that horrible night in Milton's mansion.
I'm shocked how I've somehow seen Scream 3 at least a dozen times and today was the FIRST TIME I realized the actor who played Roman is the same actor who played Jake in Scandal!!

Thank you for putting a chronology to these events. I like to think billy was the first roman's victim as much as Obi-Wan said Anakin was killed by Vader. Poor Maureen, she really didn't deserve that. Also, i do believe there is more in the Loomis family that what we know. I do believe Hank didn't cheat of mrs Loomis only with Maureen.

Did you not listen to the words what Roman said in the climax of part three? When he was talking to Sidney he mentioned what Maureen said. He said she said that Rena Reynolds was dead that’s what gave him the idea to kill Maureen Prescott.

This was great, but push everything back a year...SCREAM takes place in '95(even though the movie in real time was released in '96)...in SCREAM 2 (1997) it is stated that it has been two years later which puts SCREAM 2 in real time '97.
A slasher? Nah. A thriller definitely. Since we know what happens, it would be very interesting if they went about it in a way where you don't even know its a prequel to scream until the very end.
What always gets me about the murder of Maureen is, why would Billy bother with wearing Cotton's jacket, when Sidney wasn't even home and when the Prescott house was in the middle of nowhere???
5:32 I always wondered whether they used the voice changer to taunt Maureen over the phone. They didn't have the Ghostface costume then because that was only bought during their killings in the original film not only to hide their identities but also to mess with Sidney's head before they revealed themselves to her.
There will always be two or more Ghostfaces. There were two Ghostfaces in Scream 3. Someone assisted Roman Bridger by donning the GF costume. However, it is very plausible that Roman did all the actual killings. In the other three movies, there were two or more killers. Only Roman could have been the killer in Scream 3. Angelina Tyler was not even born when Maureen Roberts was an actress so she is ruled out. When Sara Darling was killed, GF announced that he was going to make a new movie. That is something only a director would say. Tom Prinze, Jennifer Jolie, and Sara Darling could have born around the time Maureen Roberts aka Rena Reynolds was in Hollywood. However, why would they ruin their Stab 3 opportunities and their career in the process? Killing GF Sidney would not help their acting career. However, killing psychopathic Sidney would definitely help a director's career. According to John Milton, notoriety, while harmful to actors, would help directors. Tyson Fox obviously would have no connection to Maureen and certainly would not be her long lost child. John Milton did have ties with Maureen back in the Seventies but he had no reason to kill one Stab 3 movie just to produce another Stab 3 movie. Maureen was a B string actress at best who was dime a dozen. Milton would certainly have no strong feelings for her. For some strange reason, even if Milton harbored such feelings, why would he wait 24 years before he took his revenge as a jilted lover. He certainly would not want Sidney considering all the money he was making from the Stab movies. One could say that Mark Kincaid wanted to kill the GF Sidney so that he could get the fame. However, for a police officer to kill Sidney would look too suspicious and he would know that. Even if he wanted to do that, he would not knowing he would be placed under an intense microscope. In any event, police officers are never deemed as heroes for killing criminals. They are just viewed as those who are doing their duty. No police officer has ever benefited from killing a criminal. That kind of publicity received never helps. Last but not least, Detective Kincaid never had access to the script. The killer would have to have a direct connection with the making and writing of Stab 3, be born around the time Maureen was in Hollywood, and would benefit from killing the GF Sidney. The only individual who meets the preceding descriptions is Roman Bridger.
A prequel wouldn't work. Not as a slasher anyway. We already know what happened and most of the details. We also know that Billy & Stu didn't kill anyone but Maureen back then. So it would be more of a courtroom drama where we know the outcome. It COULD work as flashbacks like the way Halloween Kills did it, but definitely not an entire film.
I would pay to see this HOWEVER, the backstory info given in scream 1 was just meant to be a quick series of events to mention how crazy the already unhinged Billy and Stu became after watching so many horror movies which led them to create their own series of killings movie-style. It was all about the movies and the meta rules The Roman and cotton storylines would have to be minor. Even Sid would have to be minor. All would be minor. Except Billy. He’d have to be the focus and the lead as we watch his descent into madness. Madness via a broken home, overexposure to horror movies, and sexual frustration. The movie would show Billy’s descent for the first two acts. We’d be unsure of what he was going to do. Then a ghost face phone call scene begins with a hot and heavy Maureen answering the phone.
Maybe Kevin Williamson can make a movie pertaining to the 1995 events that led to the death of Maureen Prescott! Maureen Prescott, Hank Loomis, Debbie Loomis, Billy Loomis, Cotton Weary, Stu Macher, Roman Bridger, Neil Prescott, Tatum Riley, Randy Meeks, Judy Hicks, and Sidney Prescott would be in the movie as characters.
QUESTION REGARDING BODY - In Scream 3 it shows Sid's mum room for "the murder scene". However, in Scream 1996 on the new report that is shown it says her mums body was discovered in a field or middle of town something like that.... So these things contradict each other.. Also in Scream 3 we see in the footage on the big screen that Sid's mother was meeting Cotton and Billy's dad at motels.. why would she decide randomly to meet Cotton at her own home! Sidney could be home / coming home.... I assume she knew nothing about her mums goings on at the time.
It says "not far from this town square" meaning that Sids house is close to the middle of Woodsboro/the town square. I just watched it again last night and thought the same thing until I noticed Gale says "not far" . 😁
Or the “murder scene” was the STAB production’s way of being close to but not really the truth. Like Heather Graham being Casey, she took a shower and it was storming outside. We all know she (Casey) was fully clothed and invited Steven to watch a scary movie.
So odd her seeing billy from behind and thinking its cotton. Him being her boyfriend. You'd think she recognized him lol. Even if they sane hair cut lol. But I guess it could be fleeting then the trauma and craziness could have distorted it lol.
I disagree that Billy had to convince Stu, I think Stu was a serial killer in the making, on his own and Billy used this to his advantage. The whole Romin convincing Billy does make sense but I think Stu was already going into a spiral, we know Stu had a relationship with Casey, however he ended up with Tatum, almost like he was positioning himself to mirror Billy with both of their Girlfriends being victims in the random killers spree. I fully believe that Stu was a serial killer and Billy used him to muddy their tracks so his revenge was not so obvious.
The problem with prequels is that people aren’t interested because they already know what’s going to happen and don’t feel the need to see it. But I will admit, the way you were describing it actually makes me interested in seeing it anyway. I don’t see it as a movie though, maybe like an 8 episode season, though the franchise already did the whole tv show thing.
Great video! I do think though that the years are actually one before than shown in the video. I say this just because of Scream 2: in the opening of the movie we can se the date April 1997 in the theater and the girl says the movie was based on a real story where "all those kids died a couple of years ago". That makes sense, since it should have taken at least two years for Gale's book about the murders to come out AND Stab to be shot and released into theaters (that night was the opening weekend). So I would say Maureen was murdered in 1994 and Scream happens in 1995. That also fits with Roman's speech in Scream 3: he says he went looking for his mother 4 years ago (which puts Scream 3 in 1998, just a year after Scream 2). Just my thoughts :)
Maybe Stu's parents were gone so often that they didn't get a chance to change their calendar, or I missed something else but, Oct 15th doesn't match up with the date of September 1996 on Stu's kitchen calendar...?
The prequel would literally be horrible. Now let me explain. 1. Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard (granted could be recast I know, but would upset everyone) considering they would also have to recast Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, Liev Schreiber, Rose McGowan, and Jamie Kennedy considering they would have to be part of it as well. Everyone would be recast (not going thru the whole cast, you get the gyst). 2. We already know what happens. Billy and Stu kill Maureen Prescott. This would just be a horrible Romcom that ended with the twist where the boyfriend kills the girlfriend's mother, that we all already know. And I can't speak for everyone but for me. That's a no. I mean yes, I get it, they could toy with Maureen and all but still We. Know. How. It. Ends.
So basically the catalysts for the killings were Casey dumping Stu for Steve Orth and Maureen's refusal to accept her son and her life as Rina Reynolds.
The two teens who were expelled by Principal Himbry in Scream 1996 could have been the additional GFs. One of them could have killed that principal and both could have tied his dead body to the goalposts at the football field. After all, two people would be needed to do that deed. Both Stu and Billy could not have done that at night because they both were at the Stu's house. Perhaps one of the two teens had a close connection with Judy Hicks, who was also a 12th grader at Woodsboro High. At Stu's house, there were at least three GFs. Look at the shoes. The shoes of the GF who stabbed Dewey did not match those of Billy's and Stu's. Also, the GF who chased Sidney out of the window could not have been Billy or Stu. Neither could have been there to meet Sidney at the stairs so either of the expelled teens could have been that GF. One of the expelled teens could have also scared Sidney in the high school bathroom. Perhaps one of those expelled teens is a GF in Scream (2022) or had a close connection with the current Ghostface!
I really would love a prequel but I feel like there wouldn't be a kill scene untill towards the end of the movie .more of a drama type movie. I agree with homie I the comments saying they should just do a flashback in 6 or 7 to show the begining of it all. This is truly a original story about someone always wanting to fill that void of evil with a mask and a knife. My favorite

The prequel should answer the question...where was Maureen Prescott actually murdered? In Scream 1996 we hear a reporter referring to Maureen Prescott's murder and her body was found just off the town square. Yet in Scream 3 it's strongly applied she was killed in her bedroom plus Sydney did see who she thought was Cotton Weary leaving the house although we now it was Billy wearing Cotton's jacket.
It says "not far from this town square" meaning the house is not far from the town square. I watched it again last night and finally caught that, because I always thought she was in the town square like you did!
Damn Billy planning all this with Roman & Stu all while cheating on Sydney and getting some girl pregnant, not to mention finals & college applications, dude was Hella busy.
I had earlier implicated the expelled students in the stabbing death of Principal Himbry in Scream 1996. However, what if they had nothing to do with Himbry's death. What if a teenage Judy Hicks killed Himbry and also scared Sidney in the bathroom? After all, since wearing GF costumes in school became punishable, only a girl could enter into the girl's restroom. What if Judy Hicks had an accomplice who helped her place Himbry's body as the football goalposts at Woodsboro High at night so that no one could see them do that? After that, both immediately traveled to Stu's house and then snuck through the window to hide in one of the rooms. Perhaps Judy was the GF who chased Sidney out the window and her accomplice was the GF who stabbed Dewy in the back. Let us state that Judy's accomplice was killed 6 years in later in Afghanistan. However, before he died, he revealed his secret about his and Judy's roles as GF to the parent of the present-day GF. What if Sam also knows that secret considering her proximity to Judy Hicks? This would be an effective form of blackmail. Billy and Stu wanted Himbry to be killed and his body to be hung at the goalpost so they could Stu's guests to leave early. Obviously Billy and Stu could not kill Randy and Sidney if there guests at Stu's house.

I've wondered this too. My guess has been that Roman and Billy had to be in contact. Perhaps Roman saw the news when Stu & Billy died and maybe he went to Woodsboro or was even the one to tell Mrs. Loomis about Sid being the reason her son died. Like how'd she know Sid was responsible?

I just hate Scream 3 in its entirety and especially what it took away from Billy as the mastermind. Roman was such a nothing character with a bland actor with a terrible motive (he wanted everything she had even though he’s a successful director and she’s in hiding unable to have any meaningful relationships). I hate that it exists and try to pretend that it doesn’t. I’d rather see a series that sees Billy’s and Stu’s plan succeed and where it could go from there.

Did you not listen to the words what Roman said in the climax of part three? When he was talking to Sidney he mentioned what Maureen said. He said she said that Rena Reynolds was dead that’s what gave him the idea to kill Maureen Prescott.

This was great, but push everything back a year...SCREAM takes place in '95(even though the movie in real time was released in '96)...in SCREAM 2 (1997) it is stated that it has been two years later which puts SCREAM 2 in real time '97.

A slasher? Nah. A thriller definitely. Since we know what happens, it would be very interesting if they went about it in a way where you don't even know its a prequel to scream until the very end.
What always gets me about the murder of Maureen is, why would Billy bother with wearing Cotton's jacket, when Sidney wasn't even home and when the Prescott house was in the middle of nowhere???
5:32 I always wondered whether they used the voice changer to taunt Maureen over the phone. They didn't have the Ghostface costume then because that was only bought during their killings in the original film not only to hide their identities but also to mess with Sidney's head before they revealed themselves to her.
There will always be two or more Ghostfaces. There were two Ghostfaces in Scream 3. Someone assisted Roman Bridger by donning the GF costume. However, it is very plausible that Roman did all the actual killings. In the other three movies, there were two or more killers.
Only Roman could have been the killer in Scream 3. Angelina Tyler was not even born when Maureen Roberts was an actress so she is ruled out. When Sara Darling was killed, GF announced that he was going to make a new movie. That is something only a director would say.
Tom Prinze, Jennifer Jolie, and Sara Darling could have born around the time Maureen Roberts aka Rena Reynolds was in Hollywood. However, why would they ruin their Stab 3 opportunities and their career in the process? Killing GF Sidney would not help their acting career. However, killing psychopathic Sidney would definitely help a director's career. According to John Milton, notoriety, while harmful to actors, would help directors.
Tyson Fox obviously would have no connection to Maureen and certainly would not be her long lost child. John Milton did have ties with Maureen back in the Seventies but he had no reason to kill one Stab 3 movie just to produce another Stab 3 movie. Maureen was a B string actress at best who was dime a dozen. Milton would certainly have no strong feelings for her. For some strange reason, even if Milton harbored such feelings, why would he wait 24 years before he took his revenge as a jilted lover. He certainly would not want Sidney considering all the money he was making from the Stab movies.
One could say that Mark Kincaid wanted to kill the GF Sidney so that he could get the fame. However, for a police officer to kill Sidney would look too suspicious and he would know that. Even if he wanted to do that, he would not knowing he would be placed under an intense microscope. In any event, police officers are never deemed as heroes for killing criminals. They are just viewed as those who are doing their duty. No police officer has ever benefited from killing a criminal. That kind of publicity received never helps. Last but not least, Detective Kincaid never had access to the script.
The killer would have to have a direct connection with the making and writing of Stab 3, be born around the time Maureen was in Hollywood, and would benefit from killing the GF Sidney. The only individual who meets the preceding descriptions is Roman Bridger.
A prequel wouldn't work. Not as a slasher anyway. We already know what happened and most of the details. We also know that Billy & Stu didn't kill anyone but Maureen back then. So it would be more of a courtroom drama where we know the outcome. It COULD work as flashbacks like the way Halloween Kills did it, but definitely not an entire film.

I would pay to see this HOWEVER, the backstory info given in scream 1 was just meant to be a quick series of events to mention how crazy the already unhinged Billy and Stu became after watching so many horror movies which led them to create their own series of killings movie-style. It was all about the movies and the meta rules
The Roman and cotton storylines would have to be minor. Even Sid would have to be minor. All would be minor. Except Billy. He’d have to be the focus and the lead as we watch his descent into madness. Madness via a broken home, overexposure to horror movies, and sexual frustration.
The movie would show Billy’s descent for the first two acts. We’d be unsure of what he was going to do. Then a ghost face phone call scene begins with a hot and heavy Maureen answering the phone.
Maybe Kevin Williamson can make a movie pertaining to the 1995 events that led to the death of Maureen Prescott!
Maureen Prescott, Hank Loomis, Debbie Loomis, Billy Loomis, Cotton Weary, Stu Macher, Roman Bridger, Neil Prescott, Tatum Riley, Randy Meeks, Judy Hicks, and Sidney Prescott would be in the movie as characters.
Heck Yeah I Love watching Scream 1-4 oh yeah ooh Spooky.

QUESTION REGARDING BODY - In Scream 3 it shows Sid's mum room for "the murder scene". However, in Scream 1996 on the new report that is shown it says her mums body was discovered in a field or middle of town something like that.... So these things contradict each other.. Also in Scream 3 we see in the footage on the big screen that Sid's mother was meeting Cotton and Billy's dad at motels.. why would she decide randomly to meet Cotton at her own home! Sidney could be home / coming home.... I assume she knew nothing about her mums goings on at the time.

Or the “murder scene” was the STAB production’s way of being close to but not really the truth. Like Heather Graham being Casey, she took a shower and it was storming outside. We all know she (Casey) was fully clothed and invited Steven to watch a scary movie.
So odd her seeing billy from behind and thinking its cotton. Him being her boyfriend. You'd think she recognized him lol. Even if they sane hair cut lol. But I guess it could be fleeting then the trauma and craziness could have distorted it lol.

I disagree that Billy had to convince Stu, I think Stu was a serial killer in the making, on his own and Billy used this to his advantage.
The whole Romin convincing Billy does make sense but I think Stu was already going into a spiral, we know Stu had a relationship with Casey, however he ended up with Tatum, almost like he was positioning himself to mirror Billy with both of their Girlfriends being victims in the random killers spree.
I fully believe that Stu was a serial killer and Billy used him to muddy their tracks so his revenge was not so obvious.

The problem with prequels is that people aren’t interested because they already know what’s going to happen and don’t feel the need to see it. But I will admit, the way you were describing it actually makes me interested in seeing it anyway. I don’t see it as a movie though, maybe like an 8 episode season, though the franchise already did the whole tv show thing.

Great video! I do think though that the years are actually one before than shown in the video. I say this just because of Scream 2: in the opening of the movie we can se the date April 1997 in the theater and the girl says the movie was based on a real story where "all those kids died a couple of years ago". That makes sense, since it should have taken at least two years for Gale's book about the murders to come out AND Stab to be shot and released into theaters (that night was the opening weekend). So I would say Maureen was murdered in 1994 and Scream happens in 1995. That also fits with Roman's speech in Scream 3: he says he went looking for his mother 4 years ago (which puts Scream 3 in 1998, just a year after Scream 2). Just my thoughts :)

The prequel would literally be horrible. Now let me explain. 1. Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard (granted could be recast I know, but would upset everyone) considering they would also have to recast Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, Liev Schreiber, Rose McGowan, and Jamie Kennedy considering they would have to be part of it as well. Everyone would be recast (not going thru the whole cast, you get the gyst). 2. We already know what happens. Billy and Stu kill Maureen Prescott. This would just be a horrible Romcom that ended with the twist where the boyfriend kills the girlfriend's mother, that we all already know. And I can't speak for everyone but for me. That's a no. I mean yes, I get it, they could toy with Maureen and all but still We. Know. How. It. Ends.
So basically the catalysts for the killings were Casey dumping Stu for Steve Orth and Maureen's refusal to accept her son and her life as Rina Reynolds.

The two teens who were expelled by Principal Himbry in Scream 1996 could have been the additional GFs. One of them could have killed that principal and both could have tied his dead body to the goalposts at the football field. After all, two people would be needed to do that deed. Both Stu and Billy could not have done that at night because they both were at the Stu's house.
Perhaps one of the two teens had a close connection with Judy Hicks, who was also a 12th grader at Woodsboro High. At Stu's house, there were at least three GFs. Look at the shoes. The shoes of the GF who stabbed Dewey did not match those of Billy's and Stu's.
Also, the GF who chased Sidney out of the window could not have been Billy or Stu. Neither could have been there to meet Sidney at the stairs so either of the expelled teens could have been that GF. One of the expelled teens could have also scared Sidney in the high school bathroom.
Perhaps one of those expelled teens is a GF in Scream (2022) or had a close connection with the current Ghostface!
So.. how did you get all this information? Because most of it wasn't described in the films.

I really would love a prequel but I feel like there wouldn't be a kill scene untill towards the end of the movie .more of a drama type movie. I agree with homie I the comments saying they should just do a flashback in 6 or 7 to show the begining of it all. The prequel should answer the question...where was Maureen Prescott actually murdered? In Scream 1996 we hear a reporter referring to Maureen Prescott's murder and her body was found just off the town square. Yet in Scream 3 it's strongly applied she was killed in her bedroom plus Sydney did see who she thought was Cotton Weary leaving the house although we now it was Billy wearing Cotton's jacket.
It says "not far from this town square" meaning the house is not far from the town square. I watched it again last night and finally caught that, because I always thought she was in the town square like you did!

I had earlier implicated the expelled students in the stabbing death of Principal Himbry in Scream 1996. However, what if they had nothing to do with Himbry's death.
What if a teenage Judy Hicks killed Himbry and also scared Sidney in the bathroom? After all, since wearing GF costumes in school became punishable, only a girl could enter into the girl's restroom.
What if Judy Hicks had an accomplice who helped her place Himbry's body as the football goalposts at Woodsboro High at night so that no one could see them do that? After that, both immediately traveled to Stu's house and then snuck through the window to hide in one of the rooms.
Perhaps Judy was the GF who chased Sidney out the window and her accomplice was the GF who stabbed Dewy in the back.
Let us state that Judy's accomplice was killed 6 years in later in Afghanistan. However, before he died, he revealed his secret about his and Judy's roles as GF to the parent of the present-day GF. What if Sam also knows that secret considering her proximity to Judy Hicks? This would be an effective form of blackmail.
Billy and Stu wanted Himbry to be killed and his body to be hung at the goalpost so they could Stu's guests to leave early. Obviously Billy and Stu could not kill Randy and Sidney if there guests at Stu's house.

I've wondered this too. My guess has been that Roman and Billy had to be in contact. Perhaps Roman saw the news when Stu & Billy died and maybe he went to Woodsboro or was even the one to tell Mrs. Loomis about Sid being the reason her son died. Like how'd she know Sid was responsible?

I just hate Scream 3 in its entirety and especially what it took away from Billy as the mastermind. Roman was such a nothing character with a bland actor with a terrible motive (he wanted everything she had even though he’s a successful director and she’s in hiding unable to have any meaningful relationships). I hate that it exists and try to pretend that it doesn’t.
I’d rather see a series that sees Billy’s and Stu’s plan succeed and where it could go from there.
