had no idea these sort of suits were still in use! Very cool process 👍🏻
In the industry they are typically used in high current areas due to the extreme amount of lead weights you wear to counter act the possible buoyancy.
@@philipshane768 And because of how durable they are. The whole helmet area that also coveres most of the shoulders works also as protection because in a high current area getting hit by something is more likely. This type of helmet is much less likely to suffer problematic damage too while offering a lot of protection.
Fascinating video, such an interesting process!
A note to the translator, that’s a ‘drysuit’, not a ‘wetsuit’. You could also call it a diving suit, or, once you had specified once, just a ‘suit’. (Please don’t see this as criticism, your translations are excellent, and very useful!).
Came here to point this out.
No fault of the translator. A lot of people just call it a “wetsuit” whenever they see a diver. 😁
Yup, perfectly fine in day to day layperson use. Even if it is more specifically a drysuit.
Also agree that the translations are brilliant and valuable.
I came here for this as well lol
Its probably a.i. doing the Translateing.
I worked for my uncle sewing tarps at his shop a few summers, and I can tell you it is very satisfying to cut heavy fabrics with a good sharp pair of scissors! The glide feels amazing
Thank you
it would be cool to see the Helmet being built in another video
Sim 👍🏾

No, no. Amateur divers can only dive to a depth of about 30 meters at most, and even professional divers can dive anywhere from 40 meters to 50 meters at their deepest point. In other words, the depth is shallow, and it is not the ``deep sea where the human body is exposed to extremely high water pressure'' as mentioned in your comment. Diving deeper than that is not possible unless you wear a pressure-resistant diving suit, not a rubber diving suit or dry suit like the one shown in the video. Additionally, even at shallow depths, there is a risk of decompression sickness, so the maximum depth, dive time, etc. are set in advance before diving, and divers must abide by these rules
Thank you so much for your time and effort. The professional divers of the world have placed their lives in this companys hands literally. The meticulous care and craftsmanship are incredible. I wish these craftsman well and long healthy lives. And to the professional divers of the world, thank you for your service its not a career its a lifestyle.
All the Best from Iowa, US.
i had no idea these type of suits were still being made and in use. i figured they were obsolete by now and replace by modern versions.
Very much still being used simply because they work. There is a high school in northern Japan that teaches deep sea marine engineering and they use these suits (these exact suits) to train the diving students, along with more modern suits where necessary. Only high school of its type in the world.
Hm... I mean the type of suit seems to me as modern as it gets. Just the helmet I would find outdated.
@@TheOitzu
Dry suits that marry to a modern free flow hat like a desco are used in hazmat diving...other than that we use Kirby Morgans with a wetsuit/hot water suit or even compression shorts under overalls depending on the water temperature. You do everything you can to NOT use a dry suit. They suck.
@@A_Lemon_Party as someone who dives dry and wet as a hobby: why do they suck for working? Do they tend to leak? Is it the seals rubbing to the skin?
@@TheOitzu
Just a comfort factor. Company owned ones tend to leak and fit poorly, I have never owned my own though. Diving every day for six, seven, eight plus hours in dry suits is just way less comfortable than diving with a hot water suit, homemade or store-bought...the more comfortable you are, the more work you get done!
whats really interesting is that this is a similar way to how the air balder on an Apollo space suit was made back in the 60s, hand made by talented people.
Fascinating. It’s amazing to watch how a diving suit is made. The time and care that goes into this amazing.
Well, in the end someone's life will depend on it
always wondered how the helmet attachment works. nice to know a quick twist can get the helmet off instead of waiting for someone too remove a bunch of bolts in an emergency
Thankyou for sharing this with us, this manufacturing is very rarely seen and was a pleasure to watch.
Maybe it's a translation difference - is this not a drysuit? Wetsuits allow the water to reach the diver.
Absolutely orsome, I am amazed that diving Equipment is still made this way amazed. This technology must be at least a hundred years old, well if it's not broken don't fix it. Are these suits Taylor made or are they made to a standard sizes. A diving suit like this must run into thousands of pounds or yen to buy ! .
The suits are made in standard sizes. The largest suit I've worn was for someone up to 192cm tall and 110kg. They do come bigger, but I've never seen one. The real limitation is the helmets which, AFAIK, only come in two sizes. If you happen to have a large head or long neck then you are simply screwed for fitting.
Great to see such experts manufacturing gear that has changed little over many years. Still has its uses despite modern innovations. By the way technically it’s not a wetsuit but a dry suit or a diving suit as it’s designed to keep the wearer dry and warm by wearing clothes under neath it for insulation.
Sehr hochwertige Handarbeit ! Grüße aus Deutschland.
I'm more curious about who is still buying those functional old style diving suits... Haven't we made anything better by now?
Người Nhật sản xuất đồ lặn rất tuyệt vời. Những mặt hàng Nhật làm OK 🇯🇵👍.
😊hyyy friend
That was the best video I've seen in a very very long time Thank you so much (Process X)
What a fantastic pleasure it was to watch something being made to be used under water the skills needed to make them is a skill on its own. Then to be able to test it knowing that person life is in your skills. Especially watching them working in the suite and how pride off what you all have achieved. 😀👍👍
Another interesting historical drysuit is what China sells as "fishing waders" or "wader suit" (by brands like Donuawaders). Unlike this one, they are even made from unlined pure latex rubber without helmet. Some have chest entry instead of dryzip and they are no overly pricey.
Very beautiful dive suit. One small correction. These are not wetsuits, they are drysuits. This suit is designed to keep the diver dry inside the suit.
Những vật liệu họ làm thành bộ đồ lặn, Rất cao cấp và chắc chắn. Nhật Bản..hi 🇯🇵👍.
Thank you for these video of smaller factories making things by hand! If at all possible would love to see how the helmet is made too!
Beautiful! Very informative and interesting. There is something special about Japanese craftsmanship. Thank you for the video
MARABILLOSO EL TRABAJO QUE HASEN CON LOS TRAJES GRACIAS POR MOSTRAR LE ESCRIBO DESDE URUGUAY.
Very interesting production process. Best regards from Poland!!
These suits and diving bells and traveling into the darkest depths of the ocean have always fascinated me since childhood. They are the same as astronauts only they explore our deepest chasms, I’ve never scuba dived but my mind wants me to travel as deep as I can into the abyss.
Amazing product 😀😀
What a fabulous video! Thank you so much for sharing.
All of them are awesome. I would be so nervous holding/making lifesaving equipment
That was a lot more relaxing than I expected.
magnifique !! vraiment un savoir faire excellent !! merci d’avoir filmé ça !
Un gran vídeo para un gran trabajo. Bonito homenaje.
Ciao sei molto bravo
That was amazing i love to watch true craftsmanship at work
Un grand merci pour la vidéo!
Excelente trabalho feito com paciência e dedicação
This is really amazing!!
Great craftsmanship! By the way, this is not a “wetsuit “. It is a “dry suit”. A wetsuit is used for SCUBA diving and lets a thin layer of water come in. That’s why it called a wetsuit.
Satisfying,, n i like it
That's amazing. Interesting video!
With all that waterproofing this must be a dry suit rather than a wet one surely?
Looks very well made
True craftsman at their finest
Best of Best 👍
Very interesting! Nice to know how it's done.
Love watching craftsmen at work. If I may suggest that the background music to be lowered as I think it disturbs the listeners from actually hearing the work processes
Excellent. Thank You.
That explosion in the end... 🤣
I imagine you have to be incredibly strong to wear and work in one of those! Well done little lady!
Once you're in the water you don't feel the weight since it's slightly buoyant. Outside of the water, yes.
It's not that bad actually, and as the other poster said, once you're in the water you regulate the bouyancy yourself as the diver. It is tiring because it's cold, noisy, and your range of movement is so heavily restricted so *doing* anything is a constant struggle.
Top Arbeit , Respekt !!!
Very good.. 👍👍👍
very interesting and pretty cool.
100 years old in 2024. That is dedication.
Asian heavy rubber action at it's finest
Parabéns aos Japão! Saudações do Brasil
Good work. TOA has been making diving gear since 1908!
You sir are a true craftsman, machines will never replace your attention to detail, thank you from the US.
Drop the annoying 'sir'.
And there a multiple people work on it.
You should include a seperate audio track that does not have any music. I enjoy hearing the raw sound of a factory or workshop, very relaxing on its own
Incredible!
Amazing!!!, Please do one showing how the helmet is made!!
As a former hobby diver I found this very interesting, but several time you mention Wet Suit, but his is no Wet Suit but a Dry Suit as the diver does not get wet. The normal neoprene suits are wet suits as the diver gets wet.
Forget the suits i'm in love with their building. Its got its own atc tower.
5:38 the slimy slurp reminded me of portal 2 for some reason
Can they make any other suits? Like space suits ? Very cool stuff...true artisans.
holy based
very skilled they are
impressive
Lindo vídeo 👏💥🍾🥂👍
amazing!
Se é japonês é bom.
Bespoke diving suit is the new flex
If they made a really good laminate bubble helmet they could be both the best newest high tech and the historic plus it would be Japanese perfect unity of creation
Amazing.
Bello....👏👏👏
made in japan quality best
