I build a Lego Jazz from scratch that I designed like 10 years ago using Lego police car and van parts. Included his gun lot of articulation and speakers that could be folded up on to shoulders. Didn’t transform but it was awesome!
My mind is blown that they've found a way to transform it without changing ANY parts except the bumper plate but that's literally one brick, this is insane. It must've been a crazy design process to make the transformation work and still keep it strong enough to not fall apart in the process
Well, technically the grey stripe below the windows isn't there on truck mode, but that would've overcomplicated the engineering a bit too much, i think

Optimus Prime had that Energon Axe in exactly one episode of G1, for like a minute, but it's absolutely mandatory that every Optimus Prime toy worth its salt must include it.
Not entirely, the axes are a nice accessory, but I'd rather not have mp44 again, I don't want too many accessories. Also the ion blaster is much more iconic.
@@samurexatlas7373 the energon axe is an accessory I appreciate it compared to some of the ones Takara packs in to the MP figures. I have never, and will never use those stupid mini figures with the MP figures. They just stay in the box.
The values on the plaque are a callback to the datacard that was on the back of the box of the original toy. I do hope they do more G1 characters in the future. I'm especially impressed that the transformation is the same as the original toy, save for the hands. That's a very faithful translation of the original.
It’s probably a reference like you said but the original Optimus Prime transformation is super simple and easy to follow, which is probably what made them go through with it
I love everything about this set and I will definitely buy it, but in terms of being fun to build... i dont know. I dont think so. Half the set must be a repeat build. Legs hands. Either those are so fun to build twice or I dont think it is going to be that fun. But who cares when it looks like that!
The way they made Optimus look dynamic while still transforming is extremely impressive by the fact that it is lego. The only G1 Lego Prime I've seen that is as close to this was StupidNinja's V3 Optimus, nearly similar, both extremely great figures

I grew up with so many people making there own amazing custom transformable optimus primes over the years. The fact we have a mass release one with such high quality is truly incredible. I'm very tempted to pick this up, even though it is a little pricey.

The stats I think are just more of an homage to the original action figure that did have those stats on the box. I don’t think it necessarily means we will see more Transformers sets, though it would definitely be welcome!

I'm so happy its happening, I am just surprised at how long these companies took to combine these two things. Imagine more figures coming out and doing custom builds of these guys. ITS WHAT I'VE ALWAYS DREAMED OF. I am also anticipating a lego transformers video game, this shit has so much potential.

This is genuinely really awesome, but I'll admit that what it makes me hope for is some kind of licensed Gundam set as well. It would be awesome if we got to see the RX-78-2 Gundam stand as an official product, which is absolutely the Gundam that would be chosen for such a crossover product.

Another great Tiago review. It is very impressive, the design and the transforming. I have the Kre-O one from many years back. It had nice minifigs and a good design, but you had to completely disassemble the entire model to change from truck to robot. Although it did come with the full trailer, some interior details, figs and 2 motorcycles. I'm hoping they can make a companion kit for the trailer for the Lego one.
Now the question is, how well does the vehicle mode scale with Speed Champions cars? AFAIK, Speed Champions hasn't had a big hauler truck since the line's debut, so getting something that scales well with the wider current-gen 2-seater cars would be really helpful for display.
It seems to me that there are things that this set has that are big deal to Transformers fans but may fall flat for normal lego collectors. I love seeing him come with all of the accessories for a great display piece. Just need a Megatron to go with it.

I still have a sealed Kre-O Optimus Prime. It took that long for it to be an official LEGO version.😅 Love the Kre-O Starscream too(in vehicle mode). Lego Voltron has more kick to it but that's a classic looking Optimus Lego has done here. Crazy it transforms!
well to be fair Kre-O was competition Lego but Lego still end up becoming with number one and that thing was ultimately had abandoned since we haven't heard anything about them since 2017 and that's it was deemed around trolls ( which sequels well-educated Lego sets) but in all seriousness two rival companies in the toy industry collaborating ( and I could see more potential for more Lego Transformers theme open to other franchises do you see more for teens and adults we have seen Horizon recently got a Lego set) and ironically the Creo ones doing transform

Personally this isn’t one for me, but I can appreciate a good set when I see one. Incredible job from the designer and team to make this. As a kid getting into Lego, this type of thing was pure fantasy. Unbelievable what they can do now. Looks awesome!
Considering they made Optimus Prime, I’m *REALLY* hoping that they make Bumblebee! Yes, Bumblebee is a lot smaller and a different type of car, but that would be an awesome pair! I think LEGO could really capitalize on this theme!

Very impressive, especially the fact that it transforms, but I doubt it's worth making an entire series of these for any of the companies, because it won't replace Lego's ccbs constraction and it won't replace Hasbro's Masterpiece Tf line, so it's just for the audience who wants both at once with some compromises, which I doubt is big enough.
Bruh what No-one assumed that it would replace Hasbro toys. People have wanted a decent looking LEGO esque Transformers set. Kre-O and previous efforts didn't do the brick versions of them justice and Masterpiece isn't even a brick construction set

I follow LEGO on a regular basis because I love to see what cool stuff they come up with, as well as the creative building techniques they use, but I never actually buy LEGO. I recently bought the orchid as a gift to someone else, but this set is the first time since 2015 I've bought LEGO for myself, because I've wanted to see a LEGO/Transformers crossover for years.
I like how the fists fold downward and are covered by panels instead of the configuration of the original toy where they detach from the arms which makes them prone to getting lost!
I've always been a LEGO fan but I've only really started collecting LEGO in the last couple of years. Transformers though? I have been collecting Transformers for literally as long as I can remember, and this set is something that I always dreamed of and seriously never thought would become a reality

Yeah, you have to do that with Kreo transformers but it looks like Lego transformers can actually transform.

the rumors have been going on for a while now, lego's announcement and the first leaked pictures were a day or 2 ago.
Even here, in lego, the transformation is more intuitive and seamless than most hasbro optimus prime figures.

I follow LEGO on a regular basis because I love to see what cool stuff they come up with, as well as the creative building techniques they use, but I never actually buy LEGO. I recently bought the orchid as a gift to someone else, but this set is the first time since 2015 I've bought LEGO for myself, because I've wanted to see a LEGO/Transformers crossover for years.

I like how the fists fold downward and are covered by panels instead of the configuration of the original toy where they detach from the arms which makes them prone to getting lost!

I've always been a LEGO fan but I've only really started collecting LEGO in the last couple of years. Transformers though? I have been collecting Transformers for literally as long as I can remember, and this set is something that I always dreamed of and seriously never thought would become a reality
