Mt. Rainier - Box Canyon

An unexpected, but pleasant, stop on our Mt. Rainier adventure brought us to the Box Canyon of the Cowlitz. On the south side of the road is the Wayside exhibit and on the other side of the road was the trailhead for the Box Canyon. The Box Canyon is a short 0.3 mile loop hike which takes you to a bridge that spans the 100 foot deep Box Canyon. In addition to the awesome view from the bridge, you can check out the landscape that was carved out by ancient glaciers. You can find information about the glaciers at the Wayside exhibit located next to the parking area. Worth a stop and a short hike. Enjoy.
