  • Starting from the popular Naches Peak Loop trailhead, I hiked clockwise, meeting up with the PCT and continued to Dewey, American and Cougar Lakes. I camped at American Lake, which had numerous established campsites. This was a great overnight trip with wonderful views of Mt Rainier, multiple lakes and wildlife!
    Dates Hiked: September 24-25, 2022
    Hike Info:
I loosely followed the AllTrails map: www.alltrails....
Changes I made - Instead of starting at Chinook pass, I started from Naches Peak TH and hiked it as and out and back instead of a loop.

Thanks for watching! Did anyone else enjoy some late season backpacking?

I have watched several of your videos and enjoyed them all. This one really brought back memories because I was a backcountry ranger in the late 1970s, and this was one of my weekly routes. I have always loved the PCT heading south from Chinook Pass. Dewey Lakes, American, and Cougar Lakes were some of my favorite places to go. Keep it up, I love watching.

Enjoy! Not sure what current snow conditions are like. Hopefully it’s all melted out.

Yes, I liked it. Definitely keep the instructed ratio of 6oz of water. More water really does weaken the taste.

@@karahikes sounds like you enjoy strong coffee. If you're in the Mukilteo area, stop by Whidbey Island Coffee stand next to Ace Hardware store on the speedway. They sell a 3 pack of founder's roast inside of tea bags so you can steep your coffee. Little more trash to consider when packing out but the taste and strength is awesome. Longer you steep, stronger it gets!
