Hello friends! Join me for this 2.7 mile hike at Mount Rainier National Park. The park is about 2 hours south of Seattle, and this trail is another hour or so in to the park.
Mount Rainier is the tallest mountain peak in Washington at 14,410 feet. It is a volcano that is currently dormant. This mountain is impressive because it stands tall above the surrounding cascade mountains. This mountain/ volcano has 25 named glaciers and many unnamed glaciers and ice fields - the most glaciers in any location in the lower 48 states.
This hike starts at about 4,500’ and finishes about 4,800’. The trail goes through scrubby brush, open meadows and passes one lake before finishing at a second lake. The first lake has a wonderful view of Mount Rainier and I caught it with a nice reflection.

Hi again😊 This is a favorite hike- it’s about 1 1/2 hours from where we live. It was really great to find a quiet morning with a good reflection of the mountain. This mountain is also a sleeping volcano! I don’t think it has erupted for a long time. The height is 10, 781 feet, the third highest mountain in Washington, and it has glaciers!

That sure was a beautiful hike Jennifer, with excellent views of Mount Rainier. I've never seen a rhododendron like that white rhododendron. It's very different from the Great White Rhododendrons we have here. Great video!

Ha! I know what you mean - I’m glad there are scientists paying attention who will tell us if the volcano is waking up! There are signs around the campground to pay attention if you hear a loud noise or earthquake, go away from the creeks and rivers to high ground!

I don’t know if they tell students what jobs they can do in the sciences ...

Very beautiful area. That mountain just towers over the area. So cool to see the reflections of it on the water. This was the first & only video I watched since getting home a few hours ago. Great job. Now I'm headed to bed! I'm 76.5 miles tired!

@@Packsalot Steve read in the news yesterday that Garmin got hacked and was being asked to pay 10 million to get control back... something like that.... I hope it didn’t mess up service for hikers. I didn’t read the story though...
@@JenniferLupine I didn't see that. Mine is still working for now. That would really suck if those hackers put that many users at risk of injury or death when they are relying on the sat service and SOS availability. I got my preview up a little bit ago. I even put the snow angel in it for you.😃 The rest of the videos will take awhile. Thanks for everything.
@@Packsalot I guess Garmin also has a division that does airplane navigation! Bigger company than I knew about! I’ll check out your preview- I haven’t decided if I’m going to add my angel as bonus footage or have it in it’s own little video ... Yes - I think so.... the glacier is melting quite a bit 🙁
