Erased was so good. I just wish they did the ending that was in the manga than their own version of the ending.
World Trigger is the most underrated anime in history!!!!😢😢😢

Facts, I do hope there is more. Love world trigger, currently rewatching for the 3rd-4th time. First time dubbed.
When it came out it was the most hated biggest memed show at the time. That first season was absolutely abysmal. Dogshit animation, there was no quality control whatsoever. The pacing was extremely bad. All the filler also didnt help. 70 episodes of slog to go thru... Calling it the most underrated anime in history is craaaaaaaazy. Im glad you enjoy it but that statement is by far the biggest slap in the face to every other show that exists.

I suggest just tackling one episode a day and usually before work.
A lot of very busy people I know manage to have at least an episode to watch.
We waste too much time working when we should be watching animes.
very interesting choices :D It's always nice to have someone pointing out shows that slip under the radar and don't deserve to.
I could suggest Hinamatsuri, A Place Farther than the Universe, Heike Monogatari, Keep your hands off Eizouken!, Kokkoku, Hakumei to Mikochi, RE:Creators, Golden Kamuy, In/Spectre, Wave Listen to Me!, Kemono Jihen, Godzilla Singular Point, Sabikui Bisco (although the finale is a huge facepalm, but it's still worth a try), Hisone to Maso-tan, Reincarnation of a Bookworm, Akiba Maid War, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (yep!)
Planetes, Gankutsou, Dennou Coil (these last three are kind of dinosaurs, being early 00s xD)
I'm sorry for the overblown list, not all of these are super great, of course, and surely I missed some stuff... or some aren't actually really that underrated... but if it can be useful, I gladly share it :D
Absolutely no need to apologize!!! Hinamatsuri has been on my list for a while now but otherwise I don’t think I’ve really heard of the rest which is super exciting for me

Like the takes! Vivy sounds like one I definitley need to check out. I still need to see a lot of the Netflix one's like Kotaro and Super Crooks.
Carole and Tuesday is so underrated. It's one of my favorites. The animation and music production was amazing and really liked that it celebrates unity and art as a whole. While it did feel corny from time to time, sometimes you just need a feel good story hahaha
Some underrated anime that you should also check out are Golden Kamuy, Zombieland Saga, Baccano and Durarara. If you haven't seen them yet.
Netflix animes are criminally underrated! So glad someone else has seen Carole & Tuesday!! Ahh I love durarara it almost made it on this list
Great list! I personally recommend 'Gosick', which stars loli Sherlock and her Japanese sidekick/friend in a Ruritanian romance( and Absolute banger op/ed).
Given you highlighted music and mystery so much, curious if you will consider Made in Abyss ( though it is rated all right, just underviewed).

I love your enthusiasm talking about anime you enjoy, and sharing it with the world. Im not a HUGE fan of anime. But I have my list of underground stuff. Erased is definitely one those.
I don’t watch any main stream 100k episodes type of anime. Everything is 24 episodes or less (a few exceptions) ranging from 1980’s to present day.

Fun list, many anime I didn't know about, but since your presentation doesn't give me an itch to watch them, I assume that they are just not into my alley (not much into mystery or dark things).
I LOVED Carole & Tuesday (I'm a lot into musical anime)
So in music anime I may recommend Kono Oto Tomare! (2 seasons available), decently noted on MAL, and yet not watched by that many people. I don't see that one popping so often. Great discovery of a japanese instrument for me (koto)
Kemono no Souja Erin : quite old anime (2009), 50 episodes, old art style, but the story is so captivating that you end up liking the art style (at least happend this way to me). A rollercoaster of emotions.
Again, quite higly noted on MAL (8.30) and yet not that many viewers.
In the SoL genra, Hanasaku Iroha (2011), heart warming one with a great ambience, set in a Ryokan in countryside.
EDIT : damn I fell in love with the art style and the useless main interest of Dagashi Kashi (all about small snacks of Japan), but really not noted well on MAL, so I don't know if I'm just a weird one.
And also, one airing now, that not many speak of I think, Bartender: Kami no Glass. I really like how it's done. There is the remake airing now, but there is also the older take, called Bartender (2006)

hehe glad i could do you justice. As for summertime rendering I love the show and it's already scripted into a future vid! I think it flew under the radar because when it first released it was pretty much inaccessible unless you pirated or did a VPN for Disney and it didn't come out on hulu until MONTHS later
I love dr stone, when it first came out I showed my friend the first episode and we loved it, I haven't been caught up with the series lately but hopefullythe 3rd season its as good as the previous seasons

another anime thats underrated in the west is "Mairimashita! Iruma-kun", go give it a watch people, and read the manga you will not be disappointed.

@@Ky_Cole a run down via Fandom. Iruma was sold to a demon by his parents. Now living in the Demon World, he goes to a demon school and has to hide the fact that he is human. Iruma is also one of the candidates to become the next demon king.
now this small summary may seem lack luster, trust me i thought so too, but when i finally watched it after putting it off months after its first season release i wanted more, and the manga is top tier, it also has a spin off series called "Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: If Episode of Mafia" which is doing extremely well, and should also be given a read

I found the anime very entertaining and the mood always stays light and upbeat. It’s a good one to watch if you want a few laughs and a story of a fish-out-of-water boy finding his way through a very alien society.

Erased is one of my personal favorites as well, and the Netflix live action really does the anime justice.

YAY We need more women talking about anime! Keep it up with the great work. I agree with you, after covid a LOT of people started watching anime. Personally, I don't think Erased was underrated. It was reaaally popular when it aired (and the ending caused a lot of controversies and mixed opinions). But I feel that relatively new anime fans missed that hype train and now it's popularity didn't age that well XD Also most of the anime in this list are from netflix, which makes sense because Netflix animes usually go under the radar. The great pretender was awesomeee, I have to check Super Crooks. Thanks for the recs!

ahhh man sooo glad to actually see someone talk about Dororo! I never saw the original but discovered this remake when it was first released and I started watching it. I simply adored this anime. The duo of main characters, Dororo and Hyakkimaru is perfect and the fight scenes are amazing. Overall it's a cute, dark, and badass anime in my opinion and I was truly sad to see it end. Absolutely love Hyakkimaru's character and just seeing his tragic story unfold is something!! Loved every minute of it. Another anime that came out around that time that I loved and I NEVER see anyone talk about is Angels of Death. It's kinda a psychological/horror anime and I think it's really cool. As far as newer anime goes one of my absolute favorites has been The Apothecary Diaries!! I'm usually into anime that are more action oriented and TAD is just different and the main character is one of my all time favorites. Moamoa is just kinda brilliant and I'll never get enough of this anime. I can't wait for season 2 but I don't know why I feel like something terribly tragic is coming. Another favorite of mine right now is Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Just a great anime with solid characters...this past episode was simply tragic and I hear next weeks episode is gonna be a clusterfuck as well...excited! lol. Some others worth checking out is Heavenly Delusion, and Hell's Paradise(Chainsaw man as well). I just discovered your channel...liked and subbed. Also just wanna say that you look lovely!! Your hair looks dope, and you have a really nice smile and eyes too 😁

Great list, I've seen around half and I can totally agree, pray Tomodachi Game gets a 2nd Season, and Erased was super underrated, really deserved more love and praise. You should do a list for underrated 2000s anime, anime that released between 2000 and 2009, I feel you missed alot of picks from that time period, but newer fans wouldn't always be keen to watch older animation.

Most of the time you search for such things there are a lot of websites or vids that just seem cookie cutter and don't go into any detail. Who knows, these days they may be AI generated... If not many seem like it anyway. Lol

Good list - Erased is sooo overlooked by most people. I'd also add Reincarnated As A Sword (I think the silly title and the Isekai premise put people off) to the underrated list. For great "slice of life" it has to be Super Cub , Laid Back Camp and Diary Of Our Days at The Breakwater. I'd also add Kakagurui ( on Netflix, so doesn't get the love it deserves) .
SOO overlooked it makes me so sad. Thank you so much for the list, I've also watch Kakgurui and loved it!!
Interesting list Dr Stone is something I have been wanting to check out. Super Crooks sounds good too. The others are vague but look work checking out. I don't know if you are into classic Anime but I have a few recommendations. 1 Bubblegum Crisis good storyline and excellent music. 2 Akira trippy story very compelling. 3 Lupin III jewel thief extraordinaire comedic always one step ahead of the detective. 4 Dirty Pair 3wa agents cause more problems than they solve sometimes cause and effect comedy. 5 Project A-Ko action and comedy. That's a short list to start with enjoy.
Both are super good def check them out. I don’t like to be too too detail oriented in these because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. Will have to check out all your reqs!!

Overall, I really like this list. In fact, I haven't even seen The Witch and the Beast. I'm confused on your definition of under-rated though as I don't consider Dr. Stone, Erased, or Dororo under-rated at all. Those 3 have a large following and are rated above a 8 pretty solidly too.
You should check out Higurashi: When They Cry, Summertime Render/Rendering, Baccano, Odd Taxi, Golden Kamuy, Kingdom, Hell Girl, Monster, Pluto, Heavenly Delusion, From the New World, Gankutsuou, Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl (weird anime lol), Kaiji (more like Squid Game to me than Tomodachi), Princess Tutu (similar to Madoka Magica), Ergo Proxy, Bokurano, Serial Experiments Lain, Garden of Sinner, Golden Boy, Beelzebub, The Fruit of Grisaia (some parts may make you feel uncomfortable, but it's a very brutal anime that's often overlooked. You'd watch this first, then the prequel movie, then season 2), Aldnoah Zero, Ping-Pong the Animation, and Mushi-Shi. Those are just what i can think of for under-rated anime at 4am off the top of my head.
No worries on the confusion, I mean underrated in terms of underappreciated not in terms of scoring. I don't really think those three have as big of a following as they should! A few of these will def be in a part 2 or 3 eheh
I concur with several of your picks especially Undead Murder Farce and Vivy. The best two that I think are underrated 86 a sort of mech anime with a strong plot and elements that non mech lovers will still enjoy and Gosick a mystery thriller that is one of my all time favorites that no one has seen.
I love 86 and it may or may not be in part 2 heheh🤭

Its so........ good and im just on my knees praying for S2 of it. Im standing on a million lives is also a good watch. Sadly we dont have much jews about their new season 😢

As the number 1 dr. stone fanboy here, glad to see someone talking postivtly about the anime, I've read and watched both but people often say "Too much stifness in dr. stone" to that I say, an artist has watched the series with me and loves it. So if an artist loves the anime it can't be stiff at all. Lol, anyway, yeah I agree it's not so underrated but deserves more love.
noo i do no the art style can be offputting but i don't think that it's super distracting tbh. I love it so much.
One of my all-time favorite anime to watch is Mushi-shi. You go through so many emotions when watching it. It delves into spiritual and nature themes with heavy tones of life and death. It might be depressing for some but it’s so beautiful.
This has been at the top of my watchlist for so loong!
First show mentioned is already off to a great start dr stone is dope and I will be buying the collection soon.

Surprising and Interesting list. I know all of these but haven't watched some of It, would do so quickly.
Here are My top 3 underrated anime:
1 - Higurashi When They Cry Series - The most unique and greatest horror story. The best way to watch is in release order The season 1 is question arc. Making people believe it's a short collection of Stories but the way they connected every story into one in season 2 Kai is simply masterpiece. The third season Rei is also worth watching as well, the first and last episodes of it are parody of it's story and the fourth season is collection of parody. The Gou And Sotsu are secretly sequels seasons and are parallel universe continuation to the story like Evangellion or Code Geass movies.
2- Kaiji Series - I enjoyed it way more than Squid Game, despite being anime it's way more realistic than Squid Game, there are many things squid game took inspiration from but Kaiji is probably the main idea they took for the plotlines. Not to mention Kaiji has the best narration in any anime ever. Would also highly recommend Kaiji's live action movie series as well. Despite It's anime being one of the greatest anime series, I love the movies even more than them.
3- Akagi - Same author of Kaiji series but based on most complicated game Mahjong. Even if you don't understand what's going on. It is still damn tense. Akagi is probably the best gambler in entire anime world. The only downfall of this anime is that it's not complete. And ends kinda like 90's Berserk anime with a cliffhanger. And have to continue from the manga from there on for the most longest battle in manga history.
There are certainly way many underrated anime but not enough space to tell about it all.

Great recommendations! Pluto is one I feel like no one talks about and it makes me sad. Banana Fish is also another favorite that needs more love imo
I love banana fish i didn't know it was underrated but if it is it'll def make it on future lists that are more genre related. Also keep seeing pluto get recommended i need to check it out
@Ky_Cole I mean, it's possible that I just missed the hype when it came out in 2018 since I only saw it last year 🤷🏻♀️ definitely give Pluto a watch though! I think there are only 8 episodes so it's a good one to binge.

Its so interesting to see erased on an underrated list. When it came out i feel like it was THE anime, but as time goes i completely understand that newer anime viewers havent heard of it, and less people talk about it. Great list! Theres some on here i have watched and loved, some i've heard of, and some i've never heard of. Overall solid list!
Also my sleeper list - Comedy/Action - Hinamatsuri, Comedy/Slice School Rumble, Monthly Girl Nosaki Kun, or Skip and Loafer, Music - Kids on the Slope or Beck, for newer ones Summertime Rendering, Heavenly Delusion. Theres more in the depths of my brain if i dig i bet.
hinamatsuri has been on my list for so long. Skip & Loafer I was caught up on manga at one point i need to watch the anime & heavenly delusion I unfortunately never finished. Summertime Rendering is also so good!

Just Finished Dr. Stone and absolutely adore it ! I loved learning about science and all the characters are so good.
I agree with almost all the ones listed. The only thing is ERASED to me it's ending is what hurt it the most. As good as it is the ending is just bad. I think that's what killed it. It was semi-popular when it came out. Other than that solid list and amazing video.

@@Ky_Cole I agree it's still a great show. Made me cry and laugh. So even if the ending didn't land well for me I still can go back and rewatch it since the characters themselves are good and so is the story. It's not really the anime's fault. Given only so many episodes to conclude the story I can understand why they chose this ending.
If you have not watched it yet, one of the most underrated anime that i've ever watch is 86. It has everything you ever wanted in a gritty "you are going to cry so hard" anime.

There's this anime series that has 2 or 3 seasons that is soooooo slept on heavily is Working!! one of funniest anime series that is so relatable with different colourful characters another anime series that is so underrated basically slept on is Ultra Maniac I totally recommend it to everyone who loves magical girl that has tons of comedy

The way i judge animes to be good its that they have to leave a dent in you. Some of these are good but out of the ones ive seen none left a dent. Plastic memories isnt talked about alot but you wont forget the storyline

Somali and the forest spirit and To your eternity are some I think are SO underrated. I just got the first volume of Erased becuase I heard that the anime is different then the manga towards the ending.

Here’s the summary online “ The world is ruled by spirits, goblins, and all manner of strange creatures. Human beings are persecuted, to the very point of extinction. One day, a golem and a lone human girl meet.This is a record of the pair, one a member of a ruined race, the other a watchman of the forest. It tells of their travels together and of the bond between father and daughter.”

@@Ky_Cole I wouldn't say its very underrated, when it came out it was popular and many YTers covered it back then. The only big issue people had with it was its ending and some of its logical conclusion.

There are so many isekais that I feel like many are underrated. Combatants Will Be Dispatched, Kemono Michi: Rise Up!, Cautious Hero, Full Dive, Handyman Saitou in Another World, Uncle from Another World, Life with an Ordinary Guy who Reincarnated as a Fantasy Knock-out, The Dungeon of Black Company, Campfire Cooking, The Weakest Tamer, and Welcome to demon school! Iruma-kun are some isekais that I feel are underrated.
I'm not super familiar with isekais tbh i don't like many but I have seen Uncle from Another World and will def give some of these a try!
