There're many good animes but the ones that have helped me improve my life or figure something out I think are the best ones for me. Here's 3 of them: 1- Welcome to N.H.K. 2- Babylon 3- 火垂るの墓 Hotaru no Haka (this is a movie not an anime)
I just finished catching up to One Piece this October and I totally agree with the guy who said that it makes you realize all the problems in the world and everything everyone said about how important friendship is. Very great video!
I understand perfectly the lady who said she watched '' Attack of Titans '' three times. Anime is highly addictive especially if the plot is unique and characters are special and dynamic. I watched Hunter x Hunter 4 times. I can't wait for the next season which is taking forever to make :(
I feel her completely. I’ve watched AoT like four times, and I only started it in 2018… honestly it’s probably because it was the first anime I decided to watch as an adult, and it changed my life, straight from the jump
But rewatching attack on Titan is really a headache coz it actually to much tension and a stressful series to watch. Though i completed out once that was my feeling and that too the end was so usual nothing special.
I'm surprised no one answered Full Metal Alchemist! It's such a layered story that deals with many different and complex themes, like grief, religion, politics, family and so much more!
While it is known and pretty well regarded in Japan, most people don't really think of it when they think of the best anime of all time. When I tell my friends how popular it is in America they are always surprised.
Slam dunk it's an awesome anime. I am a 42 years old italian, and I grew up watching Hokuto No Ken. Storyline is ebt messy but I think it had a powerful message. Japan recovering from world war, and value of friendship and love and some crazy deadly martial arts. My favorite character was Juuza of the clouds. I think they should have given him a larger portion I'm the manga and anime. His last fight with Raoh, was legendary, his fighting spirit still carried on even after death earning Raoh' s respect.
I really love Yu Yu Hakusho. It has a great story and you can learn a lot about choices that can change your life. I try to watch it whenever I can, and I always have a lot of fun. Also, although I prefer the original audio, it has one of the best anime dubbings in Brazilian Portugues. It's amazing!!
@@twotimesbam plus yuyu was first. But mainly cause Yusuke one of the best protagonist of all time in anime history. The Dark Tournament is still one of the top 5 best tournament arcs too. Togashi was good at writing/artworking both mangas
I agree with the guy who said Steins;Gate. I stopped watching Anime because adult life got me busy but every time I have enough time I always rewatch it. It's so good.
@Bobab0y It's a slice of life and time traveling concept, the slow part is only the beginning but suspense is enough there. I won't say anything else if you're interested, give it a try. You're most likely going to be satisfied. I know I am.
If you google how Akira changed everything there's a lot of long articles detailing the impact it had on modern directors and animators and the medium combining techniques not seen before used in the film as well as storytelling of the like not being seen in previous animes. Super Eyepatch Wolf has a decent 23 minute video on it.@@kibawhitefang7176
@@kibawhitefang7176 My first introduction to Anime was Vampire Hunter D, this was some 25 years ago mind you. It was shown late at night, like 1 or 2 in the morning, on a cable channel (I think it was USA?). I was absolutely floored in how animation can achieve such fantastical and mature story. Absolutely blown away. If I remember correctly they also played Akira (that was a long time ago, and my memory was hazy). And god, that was the greatest thing I've ever seen. Up until then, America really only had Disney crap as animation, or Saturday morning cartoons. There was really nothing in the market for anything other than kiddy stuff. There was nothing in the USA market that wasn't sugar coated happiness at the time. Then there was Akira, which got a lot of attention in America. There was so much depth in the characters, so much more story-wise then anything anywhere else in the world was producing, So much more just visually, auditory, and just philosophically, that it was astounding. It was essentially Bugs Bunny cartoons until this point. There was nothing even remotely close to it at that time. Here you had a movie, that was not only aimed at adults, but it was animated. And from a different country. When anything that was animated was strictly aimed at kids. Now there is a movie that has some pretty horrific scenes (I'll never forget the stuffed animal scene), gore, nudity, and some pretty damn deep and dark shit. It really was life changing. At that time, there was nothing else even remotely like it. Akira was what got a lot of us Westerners into Anime, allowed it to be acceptable, and opened the doors for people to embarrass it and enjoy it. Without it, I think Anime would be looked down on far more than pretty much anything else "nerd". I don't think there'd really be a much of a market in the US, and think there'd be a huge downgrade overall in Anime. I really think Anime wouldn't ever really get past Pokemon mainstream wise. Yeah, you can attack me on a lot of points of this. I don't have a lot facts. I just remember growing up during these times and just enjoying what anime we got access to (which was nothing, especially living in a pretty rural town that didn't have a lot of cable access). It wasn't a lot, and we got drip fed a lot of crap. Toonami saved a lot of us, but I bet a lot of us from that generation really look to Akira as a turning point in our lives. It really showed what the medium could be, and what we could expect from it going forward. It really paved the way in America for Anime in a really huge way.
I'm from Angola, in Africa, and i'm a One Piece fan for 12 years now. The show really helped me pass through dark times in my life. It's just amazing the way things and people are connected in this world and the companionship of the Straw Hat Crew is beautiful. Thanks Oda-sensei.

3:24 Props to her for saying Sazae-san. A lot of westerners don't know Sazae-san, but it's the longest running anime of all time. First aired in 1969 and currently sits at over 7,900 episodes.
When the guy said "Uchuuu Kyoudai" I raised my hands in excitement. Then the other guy said "Kingdom" and I about lost my mind. I'd buy both of those guys a drink hahah
I was watching this just to see who would say Akira. It’s one of the greatest animated films ever. I found it curious so few people mentioned feature films and most mentioned series. I wonder if there is a cultural or linguistic way of presenting the term anime that causes them to first think about TV series and not features.

I feel like most Americans have no idea what Doraemon, Detective Conan or Shin-Chan is, I was lucky enough to grow up in Barcelona where on a Catalan channel named K3 would put Anime like those on TV, as well as One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, Fushigi Yugi, Digimon, Pokemon, Slam Dunk, Captain Tsubasa, etc. Growing up with those shows was amazing and a great way to introduce people to Anime and Japanese culture in general, I got my first manga when I was 8 and that's how I started my collection with the manga MÄR. Great times T.T
Gintama girl!!!!! When you appeared on screen I already thought you looked cool with your cape blazer and you also seemed older than the teenagers so far in the video so I was looking forward to your answer (as a fellow older "young person") and your answer was THE BEST!
Japanese peoples taste in anime is super interesting. They tend to like the more wholesome and light-hearted series. I noticed this even when I was there and would ask people the same question. In the west anime like Akira, Ghost In The Shell and Evangelion are really popular. Western anime fans love the dark shit.
The big three is typically the most popular around where I live (NY) There are people that like the light-hearted stuff, but I doubt they would publicly state it was their favorite out of fear of being judged. Or, at least, I have those reservations about sharing them.
I was surprised not to hear Fullmetal Alchemist even once! That's my favourite by far! But aside from that, I resonated a lot with the One Piece gang. And, now that all the episodes of Shingeki no Kyojin is out, I can finally say that even though I did not like it at first, during the later seasons it slowly but steadily worked its way towards my top 3.
@@Diirko I couldnt agree more! It is so well rounded that it will forever be on top for me. Not only that it's such a rollercoaster of emotion. Perfect anime.

Really? Imo One Piece(Anime) got worse after the timeskip, but since ~Dressrosa it became unbearable. The manga is still okay, but I think Toei destroyed the Anime

I guess... my anime loves are classics now. Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop always remain as my top tier, top 5 anime. They're relatively realistic and highly relatable. There are no special magics or magical powers. They are like slices of life and you are an observer watching them take this journey called life - most particularly in Champloo 次回は幸運を祈ります^^ 11:31 AKIRA!!! Was my first anime - ever
The curveball with Akira at the end, didn't expect that! Personally I've watched 40+ animes this year, and I have to be honest, Akebi's Sailor Uniform was really warm, It Made me look back to when I was at that age, 17 years ago. Pretty cool. Otherwise I really don't have a favorite despite The last Airbender 😊
I thought so too but he allowed the answer of Akira and it should not be limited to and if one was to allow at the very least the mention of an anime universe is surely the same breadth and feeling as a series@@TeeBoyd88

It's funny how Naruto anime is way more popular abroad vs One Piece but in Japan One Piece is more popular, in anime anyways like the above comment said for Naruto manga being more popular. I can see why people like Luffy more as he is a less serious character and just funner. I would say both stories have different tones and One Piece 's fun adventurous one wins in Japan, and also Luffy is funny and silly. So trying to guess and look at it from a Japanese perspective, I can see why more people said One Piece than Naruto.v
Naruto is so incredibly popular internationally because for a lot of people it was their first anime, so it's mostly nostalgia speaking. In Japan, since it's not their first anime, they don't have that emotional factor so they judge more on the story and the characters. Although even outside of Japan, ONE PIECE is actually the #1 anime for most countries, Naruto is #1 for most for countries in South America though.
I was so excited when I heard one of the women answer with Gintama haha cause that's my favourite anime. It's such a weird but amazing mix of all genres and always manages to make me emotional.
I watched most of my stuff in Dubs and the Hulu dub of Gintama really threw me for a loop of how strange it was. I liked it but it was like the Ghost Stories dub with how over the top it was. I think I'll watch it in Sub.
@chelsea6671 it's way better to watch in sub because Gintama has a lot of like, deep rooted Japanese stuff in it like jokes abt the government etc...that watching in dub wouldn't portray the right way. And they speak a lot of engrish in it which is hilarious
@@liontribepoet Thank you for the recommendations! I'll put them on my anime watchlist. I have Cowboy Bebop already on it, for ages actually, but haven't found the right opportunity to watch it yet.
Happy to get ideas for more shows to watch! I'm in my 50s and for a long time my teenage son begged me to watch Naruto. The pandemic gave me a good reason to agree. I got my husband into it, and we watched it 3 times in a row with subtitles. To date, we've watched it 6 times, twice in English. It was our pandemic happy place. We've also watched Full Metal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Food Wars, and we are currently watching One Piece. Gonna check out many of those mentioned in video. It only got one favorite mention in video, but Naruto will always hold a special place in my heart, dattebayo!
I'm surprised Fullmetal Alchemist and FMA brotherhood are not ever mentioned. And you are the first person to mention it I found in comments. I'm currently watching Frieren and it's such a good wholesome time, especially if you are into fantasy.
@fredbyoutubing I've never heard of that one and love fantasy and sci-fi (lost interest in Cowboy Bebop for now), so will try it after we've caught up on One Piece. I'm dying for anime Boruto timeskip! In meantime, lots of other good stuff to explore.
This just put a smile on my face, happy to know that emotions about anime are so universal. Even Japan seems so far away...it feels so close because of you Takashii!! Thank you.
Me too! I immediately bought the whole manga collection after the finale, costed me an arm and leg but that shows how much it made an impact to me because I don’t usually buy the physical books 😂

But now I have the new version! My favorite characters are Hatori, Kyo, Momiji, Hatsuharu, Tohru, Kisa and Hiro (my Chinese zodiac is the sheep). Actually I love everyone, but those 7 the best!
The guy who said Yu Yu Hakusho deserves a medal and a meal. Dude was the MVP of the video. I’m honestly pretty disappointed more people didn’t say Yu Yu Hakusho. Surprised nobody said Sailor Moon or Inuyasha either.
My grandpa just started watching yu yu hakusho and said he will be posting a reaction to two episodes a week starting next month on his YT page shadowdog reactions
YYH and HxH are great, but Sailor. Moon? Seriously? Remember this is a about the best anime not the one you like the most....,I know it is hard to differenciate when you have seen so few anime series, but if you have seen these 3 you can't seriously compare Sailor moon to any of the other two...
Ever since I was 6 years old (I'm now 23), Dragon Ball Z had remained my favorite Anime of all time. I've seen so many Anime series but DBZ has remained my favorite because of too many fond memories and just excellent storytelling, characters, and action.
I watched it first time when I was 13 it was difficult time for me and Dragonball helped me get out from depression. I'm 16 now I watch it second time and it is so nostalgic because of excellent story and characters who gives me a lot of motivation, I feel so excited every time watching old series (DB, DBZ) I think everybody should experience these feelings, thank you Toriyama Akira ❤❤
It's sad because most people said new shows. But when the lady said sazaisan I was really happy, the only one I didn't hear that should have been said is GUNDAM.
School Days... wow. That brings back memories. I'm glad to see that someone says it has a deep meaning. Most people just think of the ending which is very shocking. But there's a lot of psychology at play throughout the show, even towards the viewer. It's definitely in the top 3 anime for me!
Can’t say I agree. The whole series felt like a grind to get through. If anything the ending was the only interesting part as something finally happens.
Not the anime so much but the Manga for Tsubasa Chronicle. Especially if you are a fan of CLAMP with all the crossovers and cameos, but even if you are not aware with the company's previous works, it's an amazing stand-alone story as well. I was finally able to read the whole thing in Japanese ^_^ and it's definitely the best story I ever read.
Right? That answer made me really happy to hear. Not just because it had a relatively young person showing interest in something that, to her, probably feels ancient. But because it showed appreciation for the artistic elements that really shine in comparison to most modern work. It's gratifying to see a project that so many people poured their heart and soul into manage to retain widespread appeal.
Isn't Akira generally viewed as being a classic, though? Like the Citzen Kane of anime? Not surprising that younger people still make a point to watch it, even if it's for the sake of it being popular.
I wish someone mentioned Psycho Pass. Masterpiece and I feel like it’s so underrated. I think it’s appreciated in Japan but outside of it I never see people talk about it.
It's nice to hear how entertainment as a child can have such an effect into moulding who you are as an adult. When the other girl said Crayon Shin-Chan I got flashbacks watching it as a kid
For a lot of Americans, interest in anime started with Toonami's after-school lineup of Robotech, Voltron, Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, Ronin Warriors, and Gundam Wing (yes I know Robotech/Voltron are composites of other shows). These had a major influence on what's popular now two decades later. I wonder how many people who currently work on animation projects in the US became interested in the industry with Sailor Moon lol
It's hard and it's between Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Parasyte. All so beautiful with compelling stories and thought provoking premises often. I'd have to give it to Parasyte though. I read the manga long ago when i was 16 or so and immediately fell in love. Then I saw it got picked up and was extremely excited when I saw who was handling the adaptation. Poignant, funny, clever, heartbreaking, makes you think (are we not monsters to pigs) and in the end the unlikely heroes don't even want to slay the bad guy. Migi is number one! I'm partial to my right hand myself but if it gave me superhuman abilities, was incredibly intelligent and insightful (if cold) I'd be so excited!
Noragami! The art (especially in the manga) is phenomenal. There are so many scenes that literately take my breath away. The story is really unique and interesting, plus it gives some insight into the various Gods in Japanese culture (accuracy not necessarily included).
To me, One Piece is the best, it is my favourite piece of media ever. I love the idea of found family and the love the crew have for each other. The idea of freedom and the symbol Luffy has become. I love how deep the characters can be and how goofy it can be as well. I love the lore, world building, story telling through flashbacks, the in-between arc stories, the comedy, the interactions in the crew. I feel that a lot of side characters deserve their own story as well just because they are so well-written.
I loved those who said Detective Conan, Yu Yu Hakusho, Akira, those are really good animes, and one of my personal favorites. But my favorite anime of all time, its gotta be Gurren Lagann. I've grown attached to some of the characters like Kamina, Simon, Yoko, Kitan, and I love the message it presents, no matter the odds, believe in yourself and push through. I also really dig Hiroyuki Imaishi's work, anything that he works on turns out really awsome!
My favorite anime of all time is Detective Conan, and Yu Yu Hakusho is also one of my favs. Gurren Laggan is an anime I used to watch on Animax in my childhood, the ending and the opening theme is emotional.
All the anime’s among these are great but one piece is just built different, oda sensei just explained how the actual world works, about the government system… I just love the series most ❤
It’s interesting to see that Japan and the US appear to have similar tastes in anime. Although there are outliers, in general, popular anime is popular.
Anime (アニメ) is indeed just a name for Japanese cartoons. That is because “animation” is not a word which can be written in Hiragana, because it is a foreign origin word. Animation in Japanese is アニメーション、 or アニメ as a short form, hence the title. Indeed, the term “cartoon” grasps a wide range of various media, and does not necessarily represent family-friendly content, since a cartoon is simply a fully animated movie.
I find it fascinating to learn that Demon Slayer is so popular in Japan that Demon Slayer's Japanese name, Kimetsu no Yaiba, or "Sword of the Demon Slayer" is shortened in common parlance among the japanese public to simply "Kimetsu" I caught several speakers in this video simply calling it "Kimetsu". What I find more interesting about that, is that, "Kimetsu" would just mean "Demon Slayer", so the American name fits really well.
One piece is mine. There hasnt been an anime thats made me cry as much as one piece. The tail of the straw hats, the character development has been unreal and the foreshadowing is just so well written
Love how One Piece is universally loved, yes its not the deepest, or the most serious anime, but it really does encompass so many themes throughout its longevity. As someone who grew up with the anime, i can tell it has shaped some of these people's upbringing as well.
Yeah, watching that dude say he's been following since kindergarden really made me realize for how long i've been watching OP. I didn't even know what ANime was, some friend just recomended it to me as a series to watch when i was 12... i'm 24 now what in tha fuck...
"not the deepest, or the most serious anime" bro has not been paying attention. "Politics in MY goofy fun adventure manga?! stop the cap" my guy: - The antagonist is literally called the World Government - There's a pervasive theme of liberation and equity for oppressed people throughout the story - Most major arcs show revolutionary forces native to their respective regions, the struggles they embark on to self-determine their own fate and liberate themselves from their oppressors, with the Strawhats often being forces that liberate the masses or greatly aid efforts to (Koza in Alabasta, Wyper in Skypiea, etc) in stark contrast to other not so fortunate places like Lulusia that have the sparks of revolution snuffed out by all powerful shadowy beings - The Revolutionary Army, that assists populations that have a desire to improve their conditions and oust corrupt regimes - Chapters 1084-1086 which strongly suggest that the Will of the D and The One Piece have been historically something that allowed/galvanized the oppressed people to fight back - God Valley + Kuma flashback - Luffy's potential real dream from chapter 1060(admittedly remains to be seen, but combined with the ace and sabo flashback seems to suggest that it is aligned with the goal of the revs) There's no one lens to view a work with, and of course the face-value pov of 'its a fun manga about sailing the seas' is great and fully valid, but only tells one side of the story; it reduces what is a deeply thought provoking work of literature and political commentary into 'haha goofy rubberman on boat', missing the other dimensions along which the work exists: as a rich political commentary, an analysis of class structures, a critique of hierarchical social relations, among many others.

as a "foreigner" that watches anime I find that high school anime teach me more about the culture of japan more then say Naruto or kimetsu no yaiba because the way school in the West/NA is, compared to the way anime portrays Japanese schools is insanely different. it makes me me wanna re live my teen days and do an exchange in japan because i find it so interesting and would like to compare the two and see how close anime actually portrays it. it would also be really cool if somebody from NA made an anime/manga that shows how our schools are run so that people from japan can see how incredibly different the cultural differences are. for instants Clubs except sporting teams do not exist here, festivals and extra activities involving weekends also do not exist, we have janitors that clean the schools after hours, i genuinely don't ever recall students ever cleaning anything, nobody studies in NA to the extent that Japanese students do its incredible how dedicated you guys are (people in university and college study but still nothing like Japanese) very few schools have dress codes and uniforms, gender specific schools pretty much don't exist (there are Christian schools and private schools which are kinda the same but they are split gender) and thats just a few differences the list goes on and on

I'm surprised no one said Evangelion, considering how popular it was and still is for the general public and for the expert critics, and how it changed animated storytelling forever, not just in Japan, both for technical and for artistic reasons. It's probably because the interviewees were late teens or early 20s, I would expect much different answers from millennials, and also from real otakus. Yes, Slam Dunk for sure. I remembered the first time I was introduced to this great basketball series (of all time) in manga, I'm a bit confused and thought it was a love romance genre because of the beginning chapters, but it gets interesting chapter by chapter. When the anime came out I watched the whole series. Then, The First Slam Dunk came out, wow man.
@@sasobrume6866 its a little different, there are no over the top moves and everything is grounded in reality. there are also less anime tropes. but the games and individual stories and matchups are just as compelling if not more so.
You should read the manga "Real". Its written by the same author. Its also about basketball, but the difference is it focuses on wheelchair basketball. There are three main characters, and two of them had to have wheelchairs (one got in a car accident, other one had his legs amputated because of cancer), while the third one is a high school dropout. It taught me alot about overcoming adversities in life and appreciating the simple things in life
Dragonball was always my favorite growing up, but lately I really love watching the Jujutsu Kaisen series. It's just very exciting and so much fun to watch.
It's a romance Anime. Guy is in love with a beautiful but shy girl. Other hot girl helps him get confidence to approach her even though she likes him too. Although they start dating he eventually gets bored of her and starts flirting with the second hot girl. There was even a scene where he grabbed her ass in the swimming pool. That actually made me very angry. He continues fooling around with both girls because he is "unsure about his feelings". The Anime has two endings if I'm not mistaken. But in the original ending the second girls kills the dude by stabbing him with a knive while sitting on top of him because she found out about him fooling around. The first girl, his girlfriend, then gets revenge on the second girl by also stabbing her. In the epilogue you can see the first girl with the head of the dude being "all happy". Maybe it wouldn't have been so traumatizing if it wasn't for the last episode. Because until the author went mad it was just a normal romance drama story. Annoying, especially with all the fooling around of the dude. Worst of all, the modern fanbays is just as mentally sick as the show itself. Many were happy about the dude getting killed and even try to justify the killing. Heck, nobody would say that the dude was a good protagonist or even a good guy to begin with. But justifying straight up murder is not something a sane person would say just because of cheating. It's absolutely reprehensible behavior for sure but it's nothing to justify killing someone over. Now imagine having to swallow this during your teens while having to fight your emotions running wild because of puberty. Especially since that was at a time when I still believed in romance and the innocence of girls. Took me a long time to swallow all that. @@Corn0nTheCobb
Yu yu hakusho is my all time favorite anime. Timeless, ive rewatched it many times and it never gets old. It sounds good in both english and japanese as well! I never watch anime in english but i can always watch yu yu hakusho in english no problem
My grandpa just started watching yu yu hakusho and said he will be posting a reaction to two episodes a week starting next month on his YT page shadowdog reactions he already reacted to episode 1 on his page
I think as with all art, whether or not it's "good" is subjective, however I do think it is good because of how it handles different topics, the characters and their personalities connecting with each other, and the animation is very nice to watch. (The last two episodes were rough due to lack of budget, however that actually works in the story's favor) But at the end of the day it's your opinion. If we all shared the same opinions then life would be very, very boring. @@jtomyhope575

Although it was short, the original 97 Berserk anime is very special to me because it’s what got me into reading the manga. Dragon Ball will always hold a special place in my heart for teaching me tons of life lessons as a kid
I was stunned One Piece has this importance for this generation on Japan! My best anime is Yuyu Hakusho, since my childhood here on Brazil. But I loved lots of other animes 'till today. I think Yuyu Hakusho was the show that made me an Otaku. LOL!
Nobody said Cowboy Bebop, and it makes me feel existential, just like the show. It was integral to my childhood. I remember walking to our neighborhood's library and borrowing each tape. My mother even drove me specifically to borrow more tapes.
There are so many awesome animes out there. Sailor Moon and Dragonball were my gateway animes. My next obsession in anime was Fairy Tail, then Kamisama Kiss, SAO, then Noragami, then Devil's a Part-Timer, The Promised Neverland, then The Rising of the Shield Hero. Demon Slayer. Fruits Baskets 2019, Ao Haru Ride, Horimiya, Spy x Family, Beastars, and the latest that I'm totally obsessed with is Chainsaw Man. I'm also blown away by Jobless Reincarnation. I just started watching One Piece and it's delightful :)
We will all be forced to rewatch this video for an eternity until everyone answers “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”. So congratulations on all the views Takashii!
Im impressed on about many japanese womans said they are watching and love Kimetsu no Yaiba, but I totally understand them because he is really fun to watch. My favorite anime is To Aru Kagaku no Railgun 🔥 Thank you for this video, I shared her on X for people who love's anime.
I know it’s not a unique (exclusive, rare) opinion but to me the best anime of all time is One Piece. I feel like it’s showing ton of really deep and serious matters that can be witnessed in real life, but it’s showed in ways that makes people have to actually think about it to figure it out, actually getting under the “funny” and “entertaining” layer of it. And I also love just how much detailed each characters are, like when you think you know everything from them suddenly you learn something new, take Sanji and Whole Cake for example. And not much characters are left out, the story is really interesting and can be seen in a lot of ways, I love the designs, both the characters and the landscape/world building. And I also really like hearing about people’s theories about the many mysteries of one piece, I love how people can think of so much out of certain little details that not everyone necessarily sees XD
Detective Conan Movie 18 has recently been released in India with an English dub on TV channel ETV Bal Bharat. It's available in Hindi and other regional languages. I'm not entirely sure if the movie has been released in America in detective conan movie 18 English Dubbed , but in India, Detective Conan's popularity is rising steadily. They've dubbed nearly 400 episodes in English and various regional languages here. There are talks about detective conan India dubbing other English movies for TV as well. Initial D takes it for me as the best anime of all time. Such an incredible narrative that goes beyond just the street racing aspect, but builds upon friendships, relationships, and coming to know oneself.
I don't even remember how I ended up finding INITIAL D when I was in middle school/high school, but as someone who had (and still has) absolutely zero interest in cars or car racing I did, and I fell in love with it SO FAST. I have it all in DVDs even, which is very rare for me :)
None of my favorites were listed 😅 but I watch way too much anime. Mushishi, xxxHolic, and oldies like Shigurui will always have a place in my heart, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust if we're talking movies. I'm surprised Uchuu Kyoudai was listed! I did like that one a lot when it first came out but for some reason I never finished it. Maybe I'll do that. Edit: They did mention Gintama and Akira near the end, those are pretty good. 💪🏻
Mushishi and xxxHolic also belong to my favorites, also Tsubasa reservoir chronicle and Rurouni Kenshin - the original (in both of these also the beautiful music deserves a special appreciation!) And now watching Attack on Titan and it's quite amazing.

Big ups to the girls saying Gintama and Akira. Unbelievable storytelling in both of them and Akira changed the world of animation forever.
Why is that? I keep hearing that but don’t know why
@@s7r49 😧 I have to watch it! 😲
Akira also Hayao Miyazaki movies change the whole world 🙂❤️

In Japan, Naruto is more popular in manga than in anime.
And I don't think the animated Naruto is that good.
Naruto sucks balls
It's funny how Naruto anime is way more popular abroad vs One Piece but in Japan One Piece is more popular, in anime anyways like the above comment said for Naruto manga being more popular. I can see why people like Luffy more as he is a less serious character and just funner. I would say both stories have different tones and One Piece 's fun adventurous one wins in Japan, and also Luffy is funny and silly. So trying to guess and look at it from a Japanese perspective, I can see why more people said One Piece than Naruto.v
As a Naruto fan, i'm surprised Bleach was not mentioned as well.

Same here, been watching anime for almost 25 years now, but nothing has been able to beat DBZ for me
Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z is the OG best of all. Nothing ever beats the DB Series. Iconic
people thier dont even die DBZ even if thier killed a thlusand times 😂😂😂
I watched it first time when I was 13 it was difficult time for me and Dragonball helped me get out from depression. I'm 16 now I watch it second time and it is so nostalgic because of excellent story and characters who gives me a lot of motivation, I feel so excited every time watching old series (DB, DBZ) I think everybody should experience these feelings, thank you Toriyama Akira ❤❤
I can go as far as call it my father in anime and had me most hooked
It's sad because most people said new shows. But when the lady said sazaisan I was really happy, the only one I didn't hear that should have been said is GUNDAM.
School Days... wow. That brings back memories. I'm glad to see that someone says it has a deep meaning. Most people just think of the ending which is very shocking. But there's a lot of psychology at play throughout the show, even towards the viewer. It's definitely in the top 3 anime for me!
So true, I really respected this answer. Ir's at the very least one of the most unforgettable animes ever.
I was very surprised at the School Days pick!
Same, I was very surprised to hear it mentioned! It really takes me back.
Can’t say I agree. The whole series felt like a grind to get through. If anything the ending was the only interesting part as something finally happens.
Nice boat, represent.
I'm glad Akira is still getting some love
Both of your comments 👏🙌
I was hoping someone mention it and the last girl comes in clutch 😅
Isn't Akira generally viewed as being a classic, though? Like the Citzen Kane of anime? Not surprising that younger people still make a point to watch it, even if it's for the sake of it being popular.
lol even people who doesn't watch anime knows it. It is more than anime nowadays.
I'm really glad that someone says oshi no ko even through it's her first anime
I wish someone mentioned Psycho Pass. Masterpiece and I feel like it’s so underrated. I think it’s appreciated in Japan but outside of it I never see people talk about it.

Hunter x Hunter, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Mob Psycho 100, and Frieren: Beyond Journeys End are some of my favorites right now.
Noragami! The art (especially in the manga) is phenomenal. There are so many scenes that literately take my breath away. The story is really unique and interesting, plus it gives some insight into the various Gods in Japanese culture (accuracy not necessarily included).
I am so happy to see this comment. I love Noragami and wish it was a popular anime, so it gets a 3rd season!
Noragami was solid!
Hate Akira. Dreadful film. That's very overrated
My favorite anime of all time is Detective Conan, and Yu Yu Hakusho is also one of my favs. Gurren Laggan is an anime I used to watch on Animax in my childhood, the ending and the opening theme is emotional.
All the anime’s among these are great but one piece is just built different, oda sensei just explained how the actual world works, about the government system… I just love the series most ❤
My favorite has to be Gurren Lagann. Even today, it's very difficult to see animations replicating that level of quality.
The last girl who said Akira, I need her name so I can tell her I love her ❤😂
Akira is my favorite anime ❤
It’s interesting to see that Japan and the US appear to have similar tastes in anime. Although there are outliers, in general, popular anime is popular.
It's not always about the US u guys think u control the world plus anime is japanese not american
Kimetsu is not a reak Japanese word. Look it up. Author made it up
@@c.d.mont.3281It is a real word because the author created it. That's how words and language exist in the first place 😂.
@@c.d.mont.3281 Many words were created by William Shakespeare. You may use some and not know the author "made it up".
IMO its the best animated anime in terms of art style and story pace
Sadly the plot and the character development are terrible. The amazing animation is waated on this one :(
One piece is mine.
"Politics in MY goofy fun adventure manga?! stop the cap"
my guy:
- The antagonist is literally called the World Government
- There's a pervasive theme of liberation and equity for oppressed people throughout the story - Most major arcs show revolutionary forces native to their respective regions, the struggles they embark on to self-determine their own fate and liberate themselves from their oppressors, with the Strawhats often being forces that liberate the masses or greatly aid efforts to (Koza in Alabasta, Wyper in Skypiea, etc) in stark contrast to other not so fortunate places like Lulusia that have the sparks of revolution snuffed out by all powerful shadowy beings
- The Revolutionary Army, that assists populations that have a desire to improve their conditions and oust corrupt regimes
- Chapters 1084-1086 which strongly suggest that the Will of the D and The One Piece have been historically something that allowed/galvanized the oppressed people to fight back
- God Valley + Kuma flashback
- Luffy's potential real dream from chapter 1060(admittedly remains to be seen, but combined with the ace and sabo flashback seems to suggest that it is aligned with the goal of the revs)
There's no one lens to view a work with, and of course the face-value pov of 'its a fun manga about sailing the seas' is great and fully valid, but only tells one side of the story; it reduces what is a deeply thought provoking work of literature and political commentary into 'haha goofy rubberman on boat', missing the other dimensions along which the work exists: as a rich political commentary, an analysis of class structures, a critique of hierarchical social relations, among many others.

as a "foreigner" that watches anime I find that high school anime teach me more about the culture of japan more then say Naruto or kimetsu no yaiba because the way school in the West/NA is, compared to the way anime portrays Japanese schools is insanely different. it makes me me wanna re live my teen days and do an exchange in japan because i find it so interesting and would like to compare the two and see how close anime actually portrays it. it would also be really cool if somebody from NA made an anime/manga that shows how our schools are run so that people from japan can see how incredibly different the cultural differences are. for instants Clubs except sporting teams do not exist here, festivals and extra activities involving weekends also do not exist, we have janitors that clean the schools after hours, i genuinely don't ever recall students ever cleaning anything, nobody studies in NA to the extent that Japanese students do its incredible how dedicated you guys are (people in university and college study but still nothing like Japanese) very few schools have dress codes and uniforms, gender specific schools pretty much don't exist (there are Christian schools and private schools which are kinda the same but they are split gender) and thats just a few differences the list goes on and on
I appreciate the woman who said Jujutsu Kaisen because it reflects more accurate Japanese culture. I didn't really think of that when I was watching it but now that she said that it does make me realize that the characters seem a lot more genuine than mist anime.

It's probably because the interviewees were late teens or early 20s, I would expect much different answers from millennials, and also from real otakus.
In any case Steins;Gate, AoT, Gintama and Akira are all great takes, Conan and Dragonball are classics and I can see why so many people would say One Piece, as it's becoming a classic and has already influenced anime more than most other shows ever.

F*ck School Days. It traumatized me as a teenager.
@@pandaman1331Why? I've never seen or heard of it
i think ghis guy is my hero. School days was my favorite for a long time. such a masterpiece

Mushishi and xxxHolic also belong to my favorites, also Tsubasa reservoir chronicle and Rurouni Kenshin - the original (in both of these also the beautiful music deserves a special appreciation!) And now watching Attack on Titan and it's quite amazing.
