6138, 6139 Seiko Chronographs are some of the best chronos of their era. Coumn wheel, vertical clutch. Does not bet much better than that. Thanks for showcasing this cool vintage piece.
I just came across your video, i have this identical Seiko Chronograph watch 6138-0011, i purchased in October 1976, my watch also, like yours it's in Mint condition, watch case, crystal and wrist bracelet, the push button seals are the only items that have been replaced around 5 yrs ago and still keeps good time 👍
@@craftandtailored thank you, my grandpa had one and the overall design always fascinated me, he wore it daily for 40+ years and there wasn't much watch left when he passed away.
Lovely to see this great hunk of steel on the channel .... and the watch isn’t bad either. Be-boom tish, but seriously I love this reference. It’s the only large watch that I wear regularly, and you’re so right, it’s damn comfortable with its cushion case and very eye-catching. Worth noting is the fact that it came out only just after the 6139 (first ever automatic chronograph) but is so much better. It handwinds.
At 5:16 you can see that the hard reset caused the chrono hand to deform and hit the minute hand, chipping the paint off. You can see the chip at 5:50 and in the opening shots. This is a common mistake people make. Always stop and reset it near 12:00. Btw, that bracelet is clearly aftermarket.
My has orange hand for the tachymeter... cool to see it yellow as well.. anyways its my favorite watch of my collection and I do have some omegas . But this ufo its the real deal in my opinion. And value is going up as well!
I have one of these, and it's EASY "A" condition! I got it NOS in 1997 (i think) and ive probably worn it for at least four years straight in total. I ALWAYS had the chrono running, as i used it to time when i took my last insulin shot. Still near mint since ive been its only owner and ive been very careful with it. It gained a steady 7 seconds a day, year round, I just last week turned it in for a routine service, as it started running a bit slow when i last had it in rotation, and i have yet to get an estimate. That's gonna HURT, but thats life in the big city. Can't wait to get my baby back! Having a chrono that measured hours was indespensible. Which is why it kills me Seiko doesn't currently have any chronos that measure more than one hour, which is what i need. ( Tech talk for diabetics: i start the chrono when i take a shot of humalog. You really need to know when that stuff hits the 1.5 hr mark.)
There r few seiko holy grail watch for seiko aficionados. Namely "Seiko Bullhead", "seiko UFO", "seiko pogue" "seiko Darth Vader", "seiko marine master" & seiko bell matic". Check them out. All cool & charismatic vintage watches. All r keepers. Cheers
Cool watch. I wonder, you being an American, how do you know JP Belmondo...? He is very ‘70s cool and a hero of the French for being cool and funny and macho and nicknamed Bebel....

sucks how seiko cheaps out in certain areas like with the crystal and clasp
Seiko did outsource a lot of bracelets to Stellux and others.
Yo! What’s up Cam. This is one killer vintage Seiko! If you do decide to sell it, what would your asking price be?
