Beets are awesome, if you boil again definitely save the “broth” to use in soups. We usually only boil beets if we’re making borscht (beet soup) but we’ll save the broth otherwise for regular vegetable soup too if we aren’t making the borscht. Pretty mild flavor and very healthy (:
@@marsy6359barszcz is an polish tradition but like its in russia too, just there they call it borscht, but yea barszcz is such a tasty thing you gonna like it.
My mom pickles them, I never liked them growing up but now I am addicted to them sliced on a sandwich. They offer such a great texture and they are tangy and pink 🩷
Beets are great if you smoke them. I had a smoker in my yard, so we always used to put a few beets, a sweet potato and a few carrots inside the smoker for a few hours, when we made Pikenya. The veggies came out incredible!
Just something to add here. I didn’t know they made 4% cottage cheese. So, once I had a tub of it from Hiland, I was in heaven. It’s the most flavourful cottage cheese I’ve ever had.
You should try steamed/boiled beers with olive oil, vinegar and minced garlic as a salad. We eat them like that in Greece especially with fish like cod. It's delicious!!!
I usually chop them up into cubes and make a beetroot salad, with mayonnaise, chutney and seasoning. They also taste great with mild spice like jalapenos.
I LOVE beets! I've made dill beet chips in the oven, roasted them, fried them, eaten pickled ones lol Oh and don't throw away the tops, you can sautee them in a pan with some salt and pepper and they are good as a side to a meal. So healthy too!
i like beats a lot, i slice them into fairly small pieces and cover them in olive oil, then put them in the air frier at medium heat if they're soft before they're crispy i turn up the heat at the end, then add salt and pepper when they're done better than sweet potato fries in my opinion
Please keep the greens your chopped off the beets! They boil super nicely into a good green side. We call it Χόρτα (horta). Garnish with olive oil and salt. They’re delicious, mild, and very healthy!
First time I saw beets being used irl, I went to a cooking demonstration where the chef used the root to make borscht and then sautéed the chopped stems to make a quick salad topped with balsamic vinegar. It was really good.
I’m Russian and I often cook beets, so I definitely recommend roasting them! Best way to enhance the colour, flavour and taste of any root vegetable. I cook them whole and use aluminium foil to save some time.
Damn, it's been a long time since I last watched one of your videos (I'm here almost from the beginning of your career as a content creator) and it's amazing how much you have improved and how the quality of your videos has become so amazing, it makes me very happy to know that you never gave up and always focus on improving, you never listened to the haters and you could go a long way. It is because of people like you that I never give up and I always keep going, now you have become an inspiration to me, a hug and best wishes to you 💗
I started using golden beets because I was tired of the mess ruby beets make while prepping. They are a little mellower in flavor but they are still beautiful in cross section.
Roast them. Though they have different cooking times, you can add rutabaga, parsnip, and potatoes. Add butter and rosemary, and it's a wonderful root vegetable dinner during the winter
I also cook beetroot like this, but instead of rough chopping, I grate them and mix with grated onion, some vinegar and a little sugar. It's a popular side salad in South Africa.
My mom accidentally warmed up a jar of her pickled beets for dinner instead of regular beets. I decided to try them. I don’t usually like beets pickled or canned at all but for some reason the warm pickled beets tasted good to me. Reminded me of a pickled radish. Idk why I liked it but I would only eat one tiny one. It wasn’t like I wanted a bowl full. Just a bit was nice to have with such a rich dinner with potatoes and gravy.
In poland we make barszcz, thats an polish traditional dish. It is a beetroot soup. I can only recommend it to everyone, try it out you will love it. You can find very good recipes on web 😊
recommendation from someone who prepped them wayyy too much in a restaurant; do it as they are still warm so it dowsn't cool too much. once they are cold it gets way harder to peel tthem... you can se a rag if it's too hot ;)
In india there's plenty of beetroot so naturally I've had it a lot. You can make a beetroot raita by grating raw peeled beetroot and adding yogurt, chat masala and a little salt and sugar to it. Tastes amazing
Roast beets with butter and a fat splash of balsamic vinegar. Also add a little garlic a little bit of sugar and a pinch of salt. Eat them cold the next day. The balsamic vinegar makes them taste like cherry Kool-Aid or something similar. It's awesome
Roast them with some olive oil salt and a little bit of Rosemary and they just become these sweet little nuggets. I usually Cube them up when I roast them. You want them to get a little crispy on the outside and that will also caramelize them a bit
Hey Lisa can you please do a rice paper with some rice flour, and and a scoop of ice cream of any choice on it and fold it up like a mochi it’s kinda weird but I like it.
You could peel them before, it’s less messy and easier 😍 also try grating them, frying them in butter with garlic, pepper and salt and adding them to yogurt with dill and mint. This is theeeee besssttttt dip and HOT PINK😍
I peel them just like any root veg before cooking then throw them in a pot with some pork bone, submerged it in water, season with salt pepper, msg, fish sauce. Best simple soup ever

I love beetroot. 'you can't beat a root' 😂
Some grocery stores sell packaged beets that are all set to go; for those that want to skip all the prep work because it’s a real time saver😅😮💨🤗
Lisa should make her own sauce called “Pink Sauce” using beets.
Finally, I am not the only one here that thinks this should be the Pink Sauce. Not that other crap with the “444 servings”
