This is a good video, specially for meniscus repair. Most of the videos out there are focused on menisectomy, which is a surgery that requires less post-operative recovery and you are able to start therapy almost inmediately. In my case I had a meniscus repair, which take a longer recovery and post-operative care.

Hi. How long time had you been 90 degrade flexion? But walk normally?

Hi, I had my meniscus re-attached to my Knee. The Orthopedist inserted to screws in my Tibia bone and passed some strings through a canal he made. Those strings kept my meniscus attached to the bone while healing. It took me almost a year to be normal. And sometimes my knee swollen if I sand for many hours.

But I don't have pain no more. I can go 90 degrees and more. I can squat normally. I ride my bike 3 times per week for an hour.

@@reyramos66 when you had surgery, after post op what degre of ranges were restricted in therapy or according to doctor? Was it below 90 degrees that you could not do strengthening and how many weeks out of surgery?

@@GoodByeSkyHarborLiveI had to wear a brace that kept my knee almost straight for 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks I went through physical therapy and, was not allowed to squat below 90 degrees for a couple of months. After that, I had to do stretching to go below 90 degrees. I did a lot of bicycling which helped me with the range of motion and strength. Today I can fully squat and stretch my knee the same as the other one. I keep riding my bike 3 to 4 times a week and work out. I don't do heavy squats because I don't have a full weight set but do a lot of different leg exercises.

Love the way you define each and every thing, from all aspects.

If you did not receive post-op protocol then push for it! It is quite common that patients do not receive ones or are very limited.
Knee is a very complex joint. I.e. meniscal injuries and following physio protocols may vary significantly from each other depending on location of the tear, length, tear type, age of patient, no. of stitches, meniscus shaving, meniscectomy, vascular zones, if knee has ACL or is ruptured, trauma or degenerative injury, etc.
P.S. be careful with "bridging exercises" as hypertension is not always recommended. Push your surgeons for info what you can do and what not. Physios do not want to experiment on you.

This is 100 times better information than I ever received from the United Kingdoms National Health Service.

Perfect! I do these exercises in PT. I watched a few videos before my surgery and they seem to be showing a much quicker recovery, so I feel a bit behind on what I can or should be doing. Your video portrays a much more balanced and realistic recovery time frame. Thanks! My physical therapist is excellent, and says as you do timeframe-wise. But for some reason I still feel too slow, so this video was helpful to see.

I had a bit of my meniscus trimmed off. After the surgery, I woke up and I was immediately sent home. My surgeon did not see me or speak to me after the surgery. I was given no crutches and no brace and was told to walk normally by a nurse. My appointment with the surgeon is in 2 weeks.
It's been 4 days since the surgery and he won't answer his phone or return my calls.
My knee does not feel stable and it's impossible for me to raise my leg without experiencing a lot of pain.
    Is this normal?

Almost the same thing happened to me. I’m grateful for my friend who loaned me some crutches. The pain level is tolerable now but my calves are hurting. Best of luck to you

Bartman sorry to hear this, 4th of this month I had meniscus repair on my right knee and I am doing good now.
About your question, what ever you are experiencing it is normal. There will be swelling, uncomfortable and bit of pain and it's very deficult to left your leg (my physiotherapist helped me by giving some tips and tricks to lift my leg, possibly I am planning to make some video and Post in youtube ) but keep in your mind at any cost you should do exercise at least 3 time a day. If you don't do it will be very deficult in future because only rehab can bring back the strength.
Select some exercise which is possible from you and do at your comfort.
I didn't felt much pain because post operation all most I got injected with 8-10 bottles of antibiotic, 4-5 bottles of paracetamol and 3 Bottles of glucose and after two days of my operation I use to take 2 pain killer tablet per day for 7 days and I quit taking further and I am all most 90% pain Free now.
After two days of my operation I use to do 13 simple exercise for 3 times a day and only knee exercise 8 times a day.
Please let me know if you have any kind of questions

@@RajeshHatwar also sir I have read that many doctors tell patient to avoid knee bending beyond 90° for 2 months for surgery.... My doctor has advised to not bend it beyond 90° for 3 weeks and then not beyond 120° for 2 weeks... And finally after 5 weeks from surgery to regain full range of motion.
