Hey! Just some tips: you need to add more weight on the top stage (or reduce on the bottom) so when you have the sled balanced and a drop time that works for you (usually 2,5 to 5s) the gimbal is closer to the camera so you don’t have too much post between the gimbal and the camera. I strongly recommend everyone who wants to start operating a steadicam to attend to a course. It’s not as user friendly as a gimbal and there are a lot of adjustments you need to learn in order to operate it correctly and don’t ruin your own body while fighting an unbalanced rig with bad postures.

Going to continue making adjustments and figuring out the best combo. Ideally I want to get it fully down before I get ready to shoot my film thats a few months away !

Def a good buy, going to post a new video update in the next week or so now that I’ve gotten more comfortable with it. It def has a learning curve, but as long as you’re committed it’s worth it! They also have smaller models if you don’t need the weight capacity!
Hey, great vid! I bought a Laing Master 2 and it's been treating me great. I noticed that your gimbal handle is very low from the top stage, I recommend you buy a weight plate! Apex Cinema Gear sells an eleven-pound plate for about $300 and has honestly been one of the best purchases I've invested in for practicing at home and flying real light weight camera builds. Also try to reduce the bottom weight to keep your post a bit shorter for easier operation!

Great video! One thing I wish I knew when starting out is to keep the gimbal as close to the camera as possible; it helps a lot. and If you need the camera higher, use a longer arm post or apple boxes.
That's definitely something to keep in mind, so far there support has been on point but you made a valid point. I think from an independent perspective the risk is worth it. But man, I'm 1 of those super independent people so I was able to validate it for what I'm working on. Provided someone takes care of it, I believe it could work well for many others as well.

thank you for your insight, I think some people just refuse to believe that the 'gap' is closing. this occurs everywhere not just with camera gear but also I think people have to understand, it's okay to like specific brands but it doesn't automatically mean that something else isn't as good or sucks. I personally consider myself a true independent/on a budget with excellent quality filmmaker/creator - so if I can find something that is affordable or will save me money - I'll always explore it. @@vhauser416
Yes I used them at NAB, build is better on these but if you don’t need the weight capacity you’ll be fine with either of those. I prefer this vest as well.
Have you tried using a brushless gimbal in top of the sled? Like this for example: th-cam.com/video/qp4MBKZh-IU/w-d-xo.html Since the Thanos-Procine can handle the extra weight, you could easily fly a DJI Ronin 2 with a decent size camera.
@@bladerunner983 its suppose to act as a counterweight when rotating the gimbal on the steadicam. I've seen it used without like in the video but was also told that it was needed

You can but I don’t! Just make sure yours supports the max weight !

You can do it, I was learning at the time so I just needed to adjust my setup! I’m going to do a followup video on this!

Is it possible to attach a gimbal like the crane3s?
SmallRig makes a baseplate for the crane 3s, so yes its possible. I've mounted my RS3 Pro on it before.

Yes I used them at NAB, build is better on these but if you don’t need the weight capacity you’ll be fine with either of those. I prefer this vest as well.

not yet but that's the plan. It ships with a pendulum which is what you would need for that setup so it can be done!
we had a demo setup of this while at NAB just last week!
