    though I had some problem with sea water It also th-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

    If you want to use the 4500 in Normal nearly all the time...use a Detech concentric coil....

    When i saw the price it was discouraging, 4.5 grand for a hobby i'm keen on trying but haven't tried yet is steep...luckily i found a place that rents the exact ones in this video for $120 a week so my first gold prospecting trip in jan or feb is still on. Cheers for the vid, it is very useful, would have been a huge mistake if i spent 2 or 3 hundred for something that is subpar.

    Thanks a lot for the info mate, really good straightforward video. I've been considering options on getting into a new small business (under 10k). At the same time I've been wondering about getting into gold detecting. I live in Cairns and have heard there's plenty of gold up here. After watching your video it struck me: I could purchase say a GPX4500 or GPX5000 and a Goldmonster 1000 and get serious about it straight away!!!! Is there still plenty of gold up this way?

    My first metal detector was GPZ7000. My partner said that if I was going to swing a detector I might as well swing the best. After trying it out he decided to get 1 as well. He does have a GPX5000 and we both have an equinox 800. It took us 2 years to get the right settings for the Z. Now we pick up everything and it's an amazing machine.

    What I would like to know is how can i get a GPZ 7000 for the price of GPX4500???? LOL! totally agree that only about 10% is the detector! Although my buddies with their 7000s find a lot more gold than I do with my monster over the same ground! GPZ is an AMAZING machine!! Great informative video!!!!

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Marty - thanks mate - yeah the Zed will certainly get exceptional targets, no comparison to the GM - but the comparison to sensitivity on super small targets would be hands down GM1000.
      Oh if I find a GPZ for same cost as 4500 I will let you know. ;) And thanks for watching ;) Talk soon buddy

    Hi Minelab’s gold. Great vids. I have an old gp extreme which I may setup for big deep gold in noisey ground. 19-25 double d. What do you recommend. I also use a 5000. Value your opinion. Keep up the good work

      Oooh gotta love the old school beasts, GP many memories and great finds.
      I would say great to utilize the machine for that.
      Did you mean what would I recommend GP or GPX for that. Totally up to you both would run similar if GPX was tuned for it. DD Pulse Induction same same. Just extra tuning on GPX.

      Minelab Gold was only thinking about the extreme. I have a 17x13 & 12” evo I use on the 5000 which work great however a bit noisey. Was only trying to keep the extreme going or should I just retire it and use a DD on the 5000 or give the dd a miss altogether and stay with a noisey, down tuned mono? The area has large deep targets. Cheers

    Hey I just subscribed 👍👍 im in the NT looking at getting my first machine, do you think the gold monster 1000 would be start or is there to much iron in the red sand?

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary, wow thanks for the Sub mate.
      In regards to the red sand up your way not sure how much Iron content it has in it.
      Maybe you could check with magnet ;)
      For rich red dirt with iron content can be challenging with such a sensitive machine like the GM1000 - just takes time to get used to the way the machine talks to you with the grounds.
      To be very honest I'd go for something a little bigger.
      Its easy for me to say that though, really comes down to goldfields, gold size, depths, budget, how often you would detect
      The GM1000 is a good tool for operators who detect regularly to gain that extra sensitivity for small gold.
      Hey the GM1000 will get any size gold as long as its within the reach of the search field.
      For larger deeper targets we would use GP GPX GPZ
      Hope that kind of helps - and good luck

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Damon,
      Thanks as always for watching ;)
      Nah not at all mate - majority of training is GP GPX GPZ SDC GM1000
      But can be any machine and we go through many things
      You could say catered for any operators current abilities and what they feel they need mostly during the training.
      Some operators need advanced settings, ground types, with settings on how to change and when
      Where as other operators feel they need more on grounds, sounds, techniques, strategies
      Some we help more with grounds reading.
      So yeah just really depends on what the current level is
      Hope that helps, by all means shoot through an email. prominelabgold@gmail.com
      Of course I can do a video in fields using the GPZ mate - ;) Be fun to get it out for some action

    I have an SD2200D and it works great ..... Auto Tracking, normal, Doc's Screamer booster, Gray Ghost NDT platinum headphones and a small lithium stuck to the side with a Nugget Finder 14x9 Evolution coil and hit the Arizona fields with my stubby ....... Bada Bim Bada Bum ...... Magic ... But that GP3500 is pretty bad ass herself ..... Would love to own that ..... But to be honest Topography, ground, home Work and studying a location is a big factor.... You do need a decent machine, but gold is very elusive and hard to find ......

    Bloody brilliant mate!!! I've been detecting for 4 years and haven't found gold. I took a mate with me once with his GPZ700 and he found gold in my spot. Now waiting on my tax return to buy a GM1000. Then eventually try and get a GPZ7000. Love your vids, that was the best comparisons of detectors I've seen. I detect in Whroo and in the area I detect it goes from 86-98% hot ground. Thanks again mate. 😁

      Hi Craggles - thanks for watching and for the kind feedback.
      Yeah can be a challenge some days. The first ounce is always the hardest - well most times anyway - unless the ounce is found relatively quick by luck. But you'll get that nice grounds and will be the best fun after all of your persistence.
      Oh mate - yeah we battle those conditions almost every hour in the fields. Hot Cold Mild boom. Off we go again.
      Enjoy your week M.G

I got nine nuggets (11 grams total) my first week using it ......

    Hi Mr Minelab, what I would like is some of your knowledge on the battery life of on each of your collection, especially the GM 1000 as it seems to use a smaller battery, how many spare batteries does one need for a days detecting?

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kevin, thanks for watching. And a great question as well.
      With each machine the battery life will depend on how mineralized the grounds are. Or how many targets you run across during the day.
      For example each target takes more life from the battery depending on how many times you swing the coil across the target, compared to if you just had the machine running constantly with no detecting.
      That being said see below - I charge GPX4500 and GPZ7000 after a full 8 hour detecting day.
      I have never needed to have 2 batteries for these 2 machines just simply charge each night before the next day out. Sometimes even after a 4 hour detecting day I will charge them again.
      I have 2 batteries for GPZ though because I have ran one fully flat from a full day.
      GP3500 I always had 3 batteries because they are the smaller size ones when I upgraded from the original large batteries they had when first released.
      GM1000 this thing last an incredible amount of time. Sometimes from 3 to 5 days depending on how much work it gets. But Minelab also supply the standard battery pack along with a pack which you can put your own AA batteries into.
      E800 is quite similar this thing last for days as well.
      I guess the other question would be if you don't have access to charge in remote areas as often as we have when coming home each day then adding additional batteries to your kit would be very handy. Say if you look to camp out with solar charge then I would definitely have a minimum of 2 battery packs.
      Hope that helps. Cheers M.G

    Hi. Can you explain again please ground noise handling with the gpz? You say it gets more ground noise with tree roots but it balance the noise out or you dig sometimes tree roots? How about charcoal? I have problems with the whites TDI and old camping fire places but only that... can the gpx balance out charcoal or it does even not give a signal?

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mendoza, that's a great question. GPX can balance out charcoal, GPZ so far we are yet to get false signal from Charcoal. GPZ seems to get more false signals than GPX from Tree Roots and we just use side side swing away from the tree to check this. Rather than swinging parallel with the tree. Hope that makes sense, swing from the tree outwards rather than across the tree root. Ahh yeah we still dig many false signals from tree roots but many times we cant walk away because they give us all the signs of an actual target response. Somedays I dig no ground noise and some days I dig 20 ground noise false signals. Just what we do in detecting. Hope that helps and good luck

    What is the best gold detector for depth? I have a friend that owns land that believe they might have some Japanese gold and treasures. they are in the Philippines. There is also a lot of gold in these areas that will not be as big as the treasures. what type of detectors would you recommend? for the two different applications.

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob, apologies on the delay. depends on the settings you run between GPX and GPZ for depth but it would be GPZ7000 if utilized correctly. If the treasures are closer to surface then most machines would work well.

    Unfortunately you forgot to mention big gold is very rare and someone who finds even a 2 once nugget in there lifetime is a very lucky person it just don’t come that big very often most gold is within the .4 to 1.5 gram size which adds up my biggest nugget in 30 years is 4.36onces and my next biggest with a sdc2300 was 1.1 once’s at 2inches deep but most nuggets are around the .2 to.7 grams range put that into the equation and you are far better off with a highly sensitive detector than swinging a big coil around for years no pun intended just my experience 32 years swinging minelab detectors

      Hi Firehorse, Personally I'd go for the GPX and utilize the SDC with stock coil for it's amazing Sensitivity, then you'll have a Dynamite Combo mate.
      They are good coils, I guess you'll always get people not happy expecting miracles from coils. At the start there were teething issues - I believe the issue was fixed by coiltek.
      They certainly wouldnt release a coil and say it gets more depth if the results didnt work.
      Yeah thanks for the comment and good luck on your choice either way. Cheers
      Happy Hunting M.G

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, great question,
      they both have pro's and cons - same as all coils.
      Sensitivity and Grounds Coverage.
      Small coil more sensitive Larger Coil better grounds coverage less sensitive. But with the GM1000 coils, we check with gold sizes to test the sensitivity.
      I've found gold with the 5 Inch that doesnt register on the 0.000 triple zero scales. We test with the target on top of the coil until we cant hear it anymore and this provides us with which is more sensitive to small gold. Hope that kind of helps, I use the 5 Inch always because this machine is utilized for me for sensitivity.

Im in British Columbia, not so much Fe rich Soil. Mostly arounds creeks and high banks from there. Not the luscious Auzzie golddfields we over here dream of visiting one day.... Great Channel!

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey hey Danlz - many thanks for watching. Oh there would be a couple things to consider, ground type, is it underwater you need and if its mostly small gold then SDC would be perfect for those conditions. And it still gets ok depth. SDC I say would be more user friendly for beginners.
      GPX will still get small gold with certain settings to achieve better sensitivity then the addition of a small coil, and also excellent depth with certain settings and big coils for big deep targets. Some coils arent submersible but they do make a water submerse coil for GPX if it is needed to do some underwater stuff, just cant put the control box underwater. Hope that helps me personally GPX for what I need it for. Enjoy and good luck on your hunts

      Hello Jeramiah, many thanks for watching. Sorr mate cant comment on SDC or CTX havent used them, if its gold youre chasing for depth you'd be best going any of the GP Range - GP GPX or GPZ if you go GP then 3500 would be best. If its small gold then maybe extra sensitivity with SDC or GM1000

    Like most people here I believe this is one of the more important videos put out on the tube for detectorists. Wish I had seen it before buying my 5000. I love my 5000 to bits now and probably won't part with it ever, but in hind sight, I should've bought the 7000! I had doubts about a few things with the 7000 but it was the weight that troubled me the most, swinging it for 8 hours or more a day........ I thought it would perhaps kill me. Well, they said the 5000 was a bit weighty but I don't even notice it now - at all. Wish I'd met you and this vid a couple of months ago. Oh well, me and my 5k will be getting out there and doing it pretty soon I hope. In the mean time I'll be learning as much as I can and vids like this help so so much. Thank you MG, brilliant :)

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh thanks mate - very much appreciated. Yeah it really is a personal preference, all of those machines find gold as you know some find smaller stuff far better than others and on the opposite side of the coin some find bigger deeper targets better.
      I guess also maybe not much sense buying a GPZ7000 if new operators can only manage to get out a few days per year.
      The 4500 and 5000 are dynamite - awesome on all levels of gold detection small and large.
      And yeah thats awesome - get that 5k out swinging mate. Truly are awesome the GPX - after running certain tests with GPX and GPZ depending on settings GPX will find gold the Zed can't and vice versa ;)

    Your explanation is spot on mate and highly informative. Every machine has good and bad points to a degree in field use and as you say the high end Z7000 has the added fast processor minimizing previous Gpx user discretion ground noise with mimimal coil change between large/small nuggets etc. The Gpx series needs the right coils and right timing settings for a given area of mineralization, but someone knowing or mastering these variables while using the right coils on a 3500 upwards will find gold with right coil(s) and timings for the particular level of mineralized target search area one is in. • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Peter, apologies on the delay mate. Sometimes TH-cam doesnt send me notifications for comments.
      In regards to that yes any detector - well almost any will find big gold nuggets. It just comes down to depth. So put 1 ounce on the top of the ground and the further you bury it will be getting harder to find with small coils and smaller machines. Hope that helps - so far with GM1000 we have found 3 grams at roughly 6 inches. Along with 100's of very small sub sub gram gold - and some which doesnt even register on 0.000gram scales. Almost paper fine on the target - so if there was a piece of paper on top of the gold it wouldnt find it - thats how small some of the pieces we have found with the GM1000 - very very sensitive machine.

    Pretty good sum up, but just wanted to say a few things. 1. Yep I loved the 3500 as well. And yep, the 15" Detech runs great on it. 2. Sensitive on the 3500 is the same as Sens Extra on the GPX's 3. The Salt timing is the same in all GP and GPX series, apart from Salt Gold on the 5000 - that is different. 4. Where's the SDC2300 :-) 5. 4500 with a DD will run just as good as the 3500 (but with more fine tuning options) and will handle hot ground as well as the GPZ (depending on settings on both machines) Cheers

      If gold is your primary target then I'd say absolutely - but its easy for me to say yeah invest your money, there have been a few GPX Operators not like them at all and go back.
      But keep in mind the 7000 will take a bit of time to adjust from using 5000

    I'd be interested to see how your testing and thoughts go with the Equinox 800, I have the Nox 600 for coins which I love and bought the little 6" coil for it, I used it a couple of weeks ago on some mullock heaps in Park 2 with recommended settings for finding gold and it out performed my Whites GMZ 50khz with 6x4 shooter coil on the tiniest shot I've ever seen so it surprised me as a potential tiny gold machine for occasional use.
    I'll bring the Nox 600 with 6" coil next time we meet up and want to compare it to the GM 1000 so I can confirm the GM is worth me buying for the few times it'll get used each year.

      We'll run the 800 when you come up and also the GM1000
      Yeah quite amazing never found tiny bird shot with 14" but have with 11"
      Where as GM1000 no issue on even gold which doesnt register on 0.000 scales
      Pretty sure you seen some of the GM1000 gold pictures 14 pieces weighing 0.046g ;)

      Prospector Pete , why didn’t you get the 800, what a great machine

      @@daverasmussen9195 I got the 600 as I only wanted it for a coin machine but decided to see if it was good on small gold and it does find them. I've since bought the GM1000 which is dynamite on small gold but it's good to know the 600 is a good backup machine if the wife decides to have a swing as well. Still love the 600 in parks for coins.

    great video MG, thanks so much for all the info - also, now I have the wife in my ear saying she wants a gold monster because she thinks it looks "little"? she may have used the word "cute"

    What I really want to know is can I hook one of those big coils to my GM to get deeper larger nuggets?

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ross, thanks for watching. Nah those big coils the plugs arent matching to GM1000. Also not sure about the changing the plugs if the coils would work either.

    great info mate my budget is a small one so i bought a monster 1000 have been out a few times in north east vic havent found any thing but rubbish with it , do you think the small round coil is best to use or the oval coil on it that comes in the box, , and do you think its worth taking to the golden triangle for a week detecting mate ime 550 km away from triangle and what depth is it capable to go sorry about all the questions mate but dont realy know were i can take it to use that suites it

    • @MinelabGold
      @MinelabGold  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter, thanks so much for watching
      Yeah both coils work fine - however we use the GM1000 for its super sensitive capabilities
      Always using the 5 inch coil - but for operators who solely have GM1000 then absolutely both coils should be utilized - smaller coil would be more sensitive and the elliptical would gain a slight advantage on depth
      For sure any goldfields is worth taking the GM1000 because of its high sensitivity to small targets.
      Depth is also one of those things mate, the bigger the target the deeper it will find it.
      The GM1000 thrives on small gold targets which other machines can't find and also in areas with known reefs finding small specimens larger machines struggle based on the amount of gold in the specimen.
      Hope that helps
