- Large gold nuggets using metal detectors, I've seen a few unearthed in my time prospecting, even uncovered a couple of rippers myself. So why have I been neglecting my metal detectors? It's time to blow off the dust and start the search for large gold nuggets using these detectors.
I'm currently on day two of an exciting prospecting trip deep within the myrtles forests of one of Tasmania's remote rivers. On day one I secured some nice nuggets using my metal detector the gold monster 1000 to target the non ferrous targets amongst the rivers bedrock.
While camped up during the night heavy rains set in.
Rivers like these can turn into raging torrents of water lifting in just a few hours putting me at risk of being stranded for days.
It's day two now and I'm about to see whether I can continue the search for gold or weather I'll need to quickly pack up camp and escape to higher ground.
Is the gold worth the risk? Lets find out shall we?

Lovely watch as always. Hello from Florida, I think it's amazing that you can just go out and camp without any major worries about the wildlife. In my area we have plenty of snakes, bears, alligators, and coyote's that make me plenty anxious.

Hi Levi, That quartz 14-30 minutes into your video is full of fine gold. That could be extracted, crushed into fine flower and then panned. How awesome to find a quartz vane with fine gold.

Another great video. If it was easy anyone could do it. You know how to manage the conditions and make adjustments; you made it home safely.
Those are amazing, and you learned several lessons (just off the top of my head, watch the weather, pack up if it’s iffy, bring your snuffer, tweezers, and a scoop, I’m sure there were others!)! It’s a good day when you learn something! The gold is lovely but not worth your life!!

I have been a rockhound all of my life, though my profession has been a PhD organic chemist working in industry in the northeast USA. I have found many Herkimer diamonds in NY and iron pyrite cubes in NH. Looking forward to new videos from the both of you.

It really blows me away how the old boys did what they did with no goggles and no detectors. You did a champion job sticking to your plan of detecting, that big nug was a choice find. I have been in a few rapid rising creek situations before and everytime it gets a bit sketchy before it gets better just go with your gut brother like you did, sometimes ya gotta risk it for the biscuit. I owe you an appology for ribbing you about the snuffer sorry hahaha I went interstate detecting today and forgot my pick oops!!! But seriously great vid and good thinking backpack rafting. that was the right move, Levy, to git outta there while the gittin was good! This is the reason that your channel is so popular. You always show us the gold and you do good video and exercise good sense.
Brilliant episode Levi, It was that good I was feeling the cold and wet fatigue for you, I know it was cut short for you due to the weather, but it does make you wonder just how many nuggets are still out there on the banks of the rivers.
That being said Levi , being extra cautious with the rivers after any rain means you will be able to go back.
Chasing the gold while your on it, is all good and well and I'm sure if it got too bad you could have found some were to camp higher up, but the hassles that could have caused, i.e. family, emergency services ect well you don't want that, hey ? So be safe buddy your family would not be the only ones to miss you, your TH-cam family would also.
