    I have a pair of caiman boots that a local boot maker changed the toe shape, made a size bigger by adding a piece of leather to the side, and changed the color all for $180. They look new now. I thought that was a reasonable price. They came out great.

    I wear a 9.5EE in Ariats, and I always put a very thin therapeutic insole right under the ones it comes with. 9.5-D is too small width wise. 10-EE is gigantic. 10-D is big too so I can't really insole my way to making them fit, the toe box ends up being really long for me, creases right at my toe nail, and will make it ingrown so thats no bueno. The 9.5EE is basically perfect except when I step theres a little more gap between the sole of the boot and the bottom then their should be so hence the extra insole. It's really important to know your size from brand to brand. I pretty much only wear ariats cause they treat me right for work, however I have tried other pairs on and found they're all differnent in their own way.
    I would lean more to getting the ones that fit you width and length wise and try to go from there. Even though the brands wont say it the wide boots are just a smidge longer so even if the width is good on a regular nine but your toes are a little cramped you can try a wide from there and it might get rid of that. If it's tight on the top of your foot get it steam stretched. That's just my opinion anyway.
    Very good video to anyone who's just bought their first pair and is confused on why none of the boots they try on will fit quite right.

    Nice one bro, mine were half a size small so i shoved some cloth in them after wearing them on every day of the week , and it streched a little actually so its good now.

    Can boots be made into a smaller size? Like a men's size 8 to a men's size 6?

  • @wesmedel
    @wesmedel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yea you’re absolutely right. I would rather stick an insole in a cheap pair of boots than relast it, especially if they’re not of sentimental value.

    I'd like to get my grandpa's boots re fitted to fit me. He passed away, and I really miss him. I'd like to wear them, but they're too big. 😢 Wearing them would remind me of him.

  • @MaulinAgrawal1217
    @MaulinAgrawal1217 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I know they can be relasted if they’re too big, but that’s why it’s important to know your size in each brand, since it’s invasive and is pricey to get a relast. I was lucky that 8.5 fit me, but of course if my foot starts to have multiple personality disorder, then I could have em stretched to a 9... and does your cat like to sit on your head?

    Leather CAN shrink but you also tend to ruin it (at least with thinner leather)
    I’ve done this by accident with a vest from the 1840s by getting it to close to a space heater

      I put an insole in my favorite boots and it seems to have slightly stretched them because now they crease alot more than the other shoe does, on the midfoot.

    I am not sure about that leather can’t shrink. I have a pair which was quite loose when I bought them and now fits much better. I suspect they shrank while I had them soaked while riding my motorbike in them in rain a couple of times.

    What would be the price range to relast a boot?

    • @LoneStarBootReviews
      @LoneStarBootReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it would depend on who did it. That said I’m not really sure as I’ve never had it done but I would bet it’s at least $200 and wouldn’t surprise me if it’s considerably more than that

      Yeah man if it fits your budget go for it. A lot of people relast special exotic boots. Keep in mind that you can go down in size but to go up in size I believe they need to be no more than a full size smaller than you wear

    I went to a Mexican store and they had a bunch of exotic boots in sale for $99. From my opinion they looked pretty quality boots with authentic exotic skins. The only catch was they they were the super pointy Mexican boots ha. I was wondering if it would be possible to get them to a regular squared to or round toe? Also can u make shafts on roper boots smaller?
