Fifty one years now of wearing boots. Have used every trick mentioned here and many more. I’ve come to the understanding of slowly breaking them in without doing any of the tricks. Once broken in, then treat them with the recommended product. Don’t over treat them. Just my 2cents. If it’s a bad fit to begin with I’ll move them on and get correct fitting boots. Saves deforming toes in the long run, as I did before talking with many boot makers.
Yes sir I do agree with you. I actually found this to be the case with more narrow toes so now i really only wear square toes or 7toe and I found that to be mech better and easier to break in and I like how they look more.
Wow great tips, been wearing boots for 45 years never thought about wearing "thicker" socks to loosen the boots up. And I always have trouble with my left pinky rubbing for a couple weeks till get them broke in. Will have to buy a new pair of boots just to try the pinky trick out. haha
Such great info. Thank you. I just got my first pair of snip toe lane brand cowboy boots today. Incredibly quality and beautiful but ungodly uncomfortable. Thanks for sharing this.
Had an old cowboy tell me he broke in his boots by simply putting them on and stepping into a tub of hot water. Stay in the hot water till your boots and feet are completely soaked. Then walk in them until they dry. Boom! Boots are broken in and have dried and formed to your feet perfectly!
Yep trust me I heard of it too but sometimes when people spend $2500 on a pair of boots they are reluctant to do that but I will have to try it with a cheap pair of boots just to see how it works.
@@cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663 if your $2500 dollar boots can't handle being wet than what are you spending so much money on them for? Just something to think about. I personally would be more hesitant to get a cheap pair of boots wet than I would a good quality expensive boot. But that's just my opinion.
Many years ago my dad told me the same thing about leather shoes- specifically US Navy shoes. I recommend spending more time in the boot store trying to find the right fit before purchasing. A recent trip to Cavender’s in Houston, we spent 2 hours trying on boots until I found the right fitting boots.
Good ideas, got here trying to find a good way to get my right in step to not be so damn tight. I will try the old spray inside and wear till it’s dry method, thanks!
Great ideas and tips. There are many other tips for stretching boots. Here are a couple for stretching the throat area: Put a softball into the throat area or Inflate a deflated football in the throat area. Looking forward to seeing more reviews.
Thank you so much Carol those are great tips for the throat of the boots these are just some little things that help me in those little troubled areas.
Best way I’ve broken in boots and done is leave the boots in the car in the heat for 1-3 hours and take them out and put them on it makes it soft and slides right on
Great ideas and recommendations. I used newspaper to put inside my boots all the time to expand them. Becareful with water. I don't recommend water on exotic boots especially snake skins. Water will destroy your boots faster. Leather it's ok. But I recommend the sprays and lotions from the boot companies better. Thanks for sharing brother. 👍
Yes I completely agree with you my friend I am not a big fan of dunking my boots and water but I respect people who decide that is the best way for them to do it for Many others like myself we prefer to use different methods that are going to be better for the life of the boot especially exotic skins so I Thought about what to do and figure out these Methods and find them very useful.
First thing I do is rub the entire boot down with Fiebings 4 Way Care conditioner and let them soak in overnight. Next day, I polish them with a good shoe creme. After that I put on a normal boot sock that I plan to wear on a regular basis and walk around the house and maybe do some deep knee bends or other activities that stretch the leather. The leather will conform to the shape of your foot over time up to a point, if the width and length are correct for your feet. Because no two boot manufacturers use the same last to shape the heal and instep areas I have learned to try on several different boot manufacturers boots in my size. My, what a difference between them! Some are loose, some are snug, and some are almost impossible! Not all 11 1/2 Ds are the same! I leave mine on in the store for a minimum of 20 minutes and then I begin to know if they are tight or too tight to be worn. Also, try them on near the end of the day, especially if you are on your feet all day, like I am. Your feet swell and that is what you need as a sizing for new boots.
Now we know why most of the boots at the boot stores are all worn to crap! People like you walking around and putting wear on new boots and not buying them! 🖕
I just bought some boots, but i noticed the opposite side of the ankle which makes it uncomfortable on my left side. I put a sock in, so it wouldn't disturb me but is there any other way to fix it?
Saw you yesterday on Jeremiah Craigs boots and ballads live stream!:) will you do Cowboy boot review videos too in the future? If you get the chance do a video for the Nocona Jackpot cowboy boots please.
Hey my friend I am definitely doing cowboy boot reviews If I ever do have the chance to do a review on nocona jackpot I will be sure to do so but if you look into the channel you will see that I definitely have a few cowboy boot related content including reviews
One way to help break in leather boots is to buy a big tub of Mink oil and lathering the boots up liberally with two evenly spread coats (making sure to cover the seams), leaving it at least overnight before brushing off the excess. This will likely darken the leather significantly just be warned but it will also waterproof and extend the life of the leather. They will be much softer if a lot of oil is used, so use lighter coats if softening the leather too much is a concern; it would be entirely possible to have the uppers of those boots on their sides using multiple coats of mink oil if one wanted boots with a very supple leather. Afterwords it is best to then polish them before wearing.
Hey sorry to hear about that so you’re ankle could probably be hurting because the shaft or the throat is too tight at which point you would have to stretch the top of the vamp a little bit forward, but sometimes it does help to allow for it to stretch on its own. Another reason why your ankles could be hurting is because your foot is not used to a higher heel, so it is something that you get used to or you can go for a roper heal, I hope it helps. If you have any other questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.
Gian Maria Volonté! Wow! It’s uncanny how much you look like him. 🤠 Thanks for the tips. My Lucchese Charles fit me tightly. I wear my Basketball socks 🧦 under my skinny’s and that’s helping.
You know I looked him up and he looks like my brother that looks lol me so I can definitely see the resemblance. I do have the Charles and I made a comparison review with the RuJo the trace if you want to check it out. They are extremely tight to the point where I can’t wear them and have done everything to break them in so I’m selling them. Unfortunately all the boots made in Mexico from Lucchese are built around a thigter last.

These are all firstworld tenderfoot problems. Just pull the new pair on, saddle up, ride over to the water trough and go knee deep. Remount and seized the day like you normally would with your old pair. Done.
Yes sir I definitely could see that working, but not everyone that wears boots gets to settle up and ride into swampy areas nor do some of the folks with expensive boots want to and I guess I could understand some of the Boots we’re not purchased for that and for those people who want another way well, I made this video and hope that it will help some folks out. Thank you for sharing and supporting the channel , it is much appreciated
Jim Green Barefoot African Rangers - shaped more like an actual foot in the first place. All shoes realistically be shaped more like Altra shoes. Why many have grown to like the aesthetics of pointy shoes/boots is weird. Unless you actually ride a horse and need stirrups, raised heels are totally unnatural as well. Wide toe box and flat - only way to go. Foot health and strength is important.
Leave a fat bottle in the throat/instep, say overnight. Further near tip, use smaller jar for bunions area. Stuff boot with dry fillers/newsprint like paper and bound with belt before leaving this overnight. Careful using luquid stretchers as color may mess up.
