    This does make a massive difference for anyone wondering. You know how the VFR is bit jerky at low revs etc? Well all that's gone with these mods (and the bike sounds nicer too)

    Hi Rod, reporting back after performing these mods. The bike runs much much smoother and the throttle response has improved too. The sound is just pure magic. You don't have to wait till 6k rpm to get that nice growl. Thank you for taking time to explain all these mods

    Hi, thanks for the vid, I've just bought a VFR800 second hand and the valve was missing altogether! It has a sporty aftermarket exhaust fitted to it. I suspected that it was to do with the bike breathing, this vid has confirmed it and put my mind at ease! 😎👍

    Hi. I have one question. After disconnecting the tube from the flapper valve, is it necessary to close even the flapper valve? Some vfr owners close also that one. Does it make a difference if we leave the valve open? Air might enter and cause the flapper to close? What do you think?

    Hello sir. I need help my 2005 vfr keeps stalling when warmed up, but only between 1 and 2 gear when downshifting and the clutch is pulled, although i can turne the bike on immediately . Any clue what it is?

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely sounds electrical, check the ground strap (earth cable) connection to the motor. Replace the ground cable from there to the battery if the cable is worn, green with oxidation or frayed. Most of the time when a bike starts misbehaving when warm it is the ignition coil packs but since it only does this while shifting down and runs fine otherwise I would look elsewhere. get yourself a Honda shop manual and start tracing the wiring to the clutch safety switch, neutral switch and bank angle sensor. The last one can shut off a running engine. The other two, in combination with ground issues, can cause a limited amount of finnickyness. Without more testing information that's where I suggest you look - Good Luck!

    Why would you choose a threaded device to attempt to plug the hose? Why not something solid? A golf tee even.

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A threaded screw or bolt won't back out since it grips the rubber. The addition of a zip tie also allows the rubber to bite on the threads even harder and will prevent any unwanted movement even if the rubber hose expands (heat). I have yet to see a porous metal bolt or screw... Plastic golf tees, in my experience, are unreliable at stopping up hoses due to the taper at the head. They are also wider at the head than the hose and are kinda' obvious. Golf tees are for wacking little white balls, not your motorcycle... Thanks for the question!

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use a hair dryer or better yet a heat gun to warm up the rubber and then place some pliers on the end of the hose around the diaphragm inlet. Twist clockwise & counter clockwise to loosen up. Or just cut the hose, you'll never hook it up again. FYI sounds like the rubber is old and it may crack anyway.

      @@RodRidesWrenches The easy way is to remove the air filter and pull it out from the inside. Took me 30 seconds.

  • @CK.one1

    Does it not make the bike run rich or lean though??

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, allowing your motor to breath better does not make it run lean. Secondly the from 2000MY on the VFR has a closed loop fuel injection system (the ones with the O2 Sensors) it is not possible to change anything on this scale that will affect the air/fuel mixture since the ECM will compensate. You would have to use some sort of forced air induction to surpass what the standard ECM program is capable of compensating for.

      @@RodRidesWrenches oh OK thanks alot gonna do tomorrow. Also would you be able to help I get a burst of like air pressure up around the handle bars area and bike cuts out but then starts again. Does it when bike gets up to temperature. It's like pressure release and cuts out but starts again. Have 03 vfr 6th gen. Have ever heard that happen before??

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CK.one1 typically when a bike cuts out when warm it is the ignition coil but they don't just start up until they cool. Check your handlebar kill switch, kickstand switch and key ignition. Take apart the handlebar switch and spray contact cleaner in there to clean the switch. Unplug the kickstand switch and see if the problem persists. Check the key for looseness in the barrel, there are 4 or 5 contacts in the bottom of the key barrel that wear out, when the bike stalls do the lights go out? If so they look at the key, if not look to the handlebar switch. You didn't mention if it happens while sitting in the garage hot or you have to be riding it and at what speed. Get yourself a shop manual you can download one here www.manualedereparatie.info/manuale/honda/Honda_VFR_800_VTEC_2002_Manual_de_reparatie_www.manualedereparatie.info.zip As far as you "Burst of Wind" check the exhaust flanges on the motor. I just bought a bike that had one of the four flanges that hold the header to the engine rattling around the collector as both bolts fell off. Make sure your airbox is secure under the tank as there is a air flow sensor in it as we well as a temperature sensor. One in the lid & one in the bottom. I am going to assume you've checked the air cleaner and it is clean? - Good Luck!

      @@RodRidesWrenchesthanks a mill. I'm baffled and so was my mechanic but had accident and now prosthetic leg so can't afford to keep going mechanic all time... did it again today. I ride the bike at good speed up to 90 celcius for about 20 mins then came home and rested for 15 mins and went back out and was in traffic so just 30 or 40 mph then a burst of pressure and was like smoke or steam to (I think smoke) down in around handle bars. Bike cuts off I press ignition and takes few times but does start again and goes OK for a while till does it again.

Air filter getting change tomorrow as is small bit dirty but only 5000 miles on it. Will have look at sensors on airbox and see if ok. The baffling part is why is there a burst of pressure and where can it be coming from. Gonna change coolant tomorrow too and check hoses. Sooooooo what's the issue with just disconnecting the rod from the flap?

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  ปีที่แล้ว

      Disconnecting hose takes way less effort and is sooooo much easier. You need to remove the flap itself if you are removing the diagram. Reconnecting the hose takes seconds to put back to stock if wanted or needed later.

    • @Animo92
      @Animo92 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @RodRidesWrenches the plunger is hooked into the flap by a small metal hook, if you remove it from its locating hole it will effectively do the same thing albeit slightly longer to put back by a minute or so and without risking newbies giving themselves mystery air leaks down the line
