For deep reach plugs i use a piece of rubber hose that fits snuggly over the plug to insert them, that way you don't need to drop them in and risk altering the plug gap, you can also start them off the same way and risk any cross threading.
@@GPz84 I almost think the rubber hose is a better solution. If the plug socket comes loose from the extension and drops into the hole along with the plug, it's just that much more weight on the plug when it hits bottom. The hose also allows more feeling when starting the threads to keep from cross threading.
I cant helieve he dropped them in either. I like this tip, even more so than using a spark plug socket that has a potential for the plug to slip out. Unlikely but in tight quarters like this bike, im taking all precautions to not damage the plug or top threads

hello thank you very much for your video very well explained and with very good visual on the work to be done, on the other hand there is no risk of damaging the engine by carrying out this operation of removing Delete of the Pair system, it is not necessary to add a connection to the box unplugged? removed the plug and the housing and that's it? Thank you very much 🙏👍👌
Good vid apart from showing the incorrect way to install spark plugs " Never drop a plug onto its hole" bad practice !! thread damage to plug & head can occur ... This is why a proper plug socket has a rubber insert to hold plug secure before attempting to start thread ... keep up the good work.

Hi there, Thanks for the video. I've just ordered myself a set of plate for the pair valve deletes. I know there are two pipes one left one right going to the airbox. When you've removed the pair valve itself, there is also a secondo tube underneath, how do you close it? Thanks
Never having owned or ridden a VFR800............what is the purpose of a "Pair" valve for this machine!?!? Anyone know? Anyway..........LOVED watching this video, and showing how You changed the plugs on this and removed that "Pair" valve assembly!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
The PAIR system is a system made to take exhaust gases and put them back into the airbox (or the other way around, I believe it depends on the bike). It's an emissions thing that's pretty stupid to be honest.
The pair system bleeds air from the airbox into the exhaust ports at low rpm's and throttle load..it's purpose is to to bleed "raw" or clean air into the catalyst, the engine runs a little rich while doing so, so the catalyst gets both unburned fuel and oxygen to do its catalysing, and reduces emissions. Proof that this is the concept comes from when the inlet rubbers get old and start leaking, the bikes exhaust sensors spot a lean exhaust stream and it then closes off the pair system.
Thanks everyone for your helpful answers!!! Basically sounds like a PCV-system on a cager!?!?! Thanks for taking the time to answer!!! It's appreciated!!! :-)
Excellent and easy to follow video. Cheers. Everything went well until the last spark plug (rear left hand side) rounded screw which i managed to hammer it off with a screwdriver. The £15 ebay pair blanking kit was easy aswell.bike fired up much quicker
Nice work! I've plugged the PAIR valve from the air box (and it did help the bike run smoother at low speeds and small throttle openings), but is there an advantage to removing it? Other than tidying everything up?
id strongly suggest finding alternative screws requiring sockets or spanners than those allen head screws for the rear coils. when they dont play ball there a nightmare

If you buy a brass wire brush and use it to clean spark plugs it’s possible to make them last a lot longer. Just check the gap and stick them back in. Simple. Not sure when this skill was lost. Possibly sometime in the 1990s. It is more difficult to find brass wire brushes these days, but Lidl was recently selling sets of four wire brushes: 2 steel and 2 brass for a silly cheap price. So I bought two sets.

easy job, go slow and you will have it done in an hour maybe? also make sure you put antiseze on the threads, some dielectric goop on the coils output and input to help prevent rusting. if you want grab a bottle of throttle body cleaner and give the tops of your cylinders a good hit, don't flood, but a good hit. let sit for a half an hour / as long as it takes you to do this job and it will help burn off much of the built up carbon. results, faster ignition / bike turns on faster and more reliable burn/ less low end stumble. yeah honda says what 50k miles? but you should do it ever 10k miles as a way to also check on the bike to make sure all is well.
Sorry but all you have to do the pair delete is block the fresh air coming from airbox. Without air going into the pair valve it can not do anything. Yeah it's not a performance improvement at all. It only saves about 2 lbs of weight and does nothing other than that... however it does remove a lot of clutter underneath which I like.

Most bikes have the same type of system. I deleted the pair valve on my 2019 klx250 and 2020 r3 as well

Nope. Just declutter underneath and an insignificant weight savings.

It actually does say "12 Nm" for the spark plugs (2002 Service Manual)
Ah ok, I only have the owner's manual, on page 103 it says to tighten 1/2 turn for NGK. Good to know the actual number is 12 nm.
how does deleting the pair system help the bike? i also own 2009 vfr and so far i only did snorkel/flapper mod
The 8th gen VFR torque specification is 12 lbf-ft (16 Nm) for the spark plugs.
My Bike is older and has an Oil Cooler in the way of my pair valve cover.. Does this swing out of the way? ;o)

What does this pair delete do? Looking at a VFr 5th gen
Did the exhaust pop more with the PAIR delete?
What's your mileage at ? Manual says to change the spark plugs at around 50 000 km. Is this a bit early or are they due at that moment ?
@herorr is there any harm to engine by removing pair valve system ??
No it’s safe if done properly. It’s for emissions.
What's the interval for spark plug replacement?
What does the pair system do?
Where can I find your center stand? And will it fit on my fz 07
Center stands are standard on the 6th Gen VFR. As far as getting an after Market one. I honestly have no idea
Thanks again for sharing, it helps alot and saves me money😂
Dropping plugs like that knocks the gap out of spec. Lower gently with magnet or a cut off end from an old spark plug wire, works great. ⚡
if you dont have a magnet to retrieve spark plug, just put the coil down there it will clip in just like normal then pull it out. no magnet needed
Good tip!
