    We are for Roof maintenance on our Passport. Had the whole roof resealed a year ago.. no issues.. but preventive maintenance is key. Good video.. thanks for sharing.

      Agreed! Preventative care is so important. We thought about taking it in for someone else to look at it when we had other repairs done but decided against it. Kind of wish we would have but now I guess we'll get to film the process. Haha!

    I put tv tape over all my places that had chalking all edges and pipes and vents,because the first year I bought it my rd cover stuck to it so I feel this was just a better for me and when I go to put on the rubber sealant over the tape will already be their.as I was told todot his every three to five year.so I’ll do mine coming up this year or next.

    I've had my eye on a ladder like that for our Keystone Passport. I was interested in your video because we also have a non-walkable roof. I had thought about the plywood sheet trick, and it was nice to have someone mention it.

    My wife and I travel nurse too in our rv. We’re in lake havasu az now but we’re in Gainesville ga three assignments back. So pretty there. Stayed in Clevland ga. Jenny’s creek was awesome and the people are so nice. I totally would do that assignment again.

    Man, a leaky roof is one of my fears when it comes to RVing. Fingers crossed for no more leaks so you can get it resealed in NC. Where did you wash your rig? I’ve never seen one where you can wash outside the bay. Pretty cool.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath

      Its been raining since we got here. No more leaks yet. Waiting to get up there and fix it properly. The car wash was a random one in Wickenburg AZ. John found it online. The outer bay was perfect!

    The RV Roof Install company mentioned by Jessica Wilson seems like they do a great job! They say NOT to use caulking though. However, especially the caulking you're using, acrylic, is paintable and it shrinks/cracks if it's not painted. If you MUST use caulking, I'd recommend a 100% silicone caulk (like tub/tile). Lasts way longer and completely water resistant (paintable caulking is not). RV Roof Install says to use an "adhesive sealant" instead because it actually adheres as well and won't let go. A couple brands they recommend are by Exxel or Chemlink, but the important part is that you use an adhesive AND sealant. They apply the same way, with a caulking gun. At any rate, I'm in the process of restoring a water-logged camper right now and their vid's have been a wealth of good info. Highly recommend checking them out. Their website has a ton of info too. Not trying to advertise for them, just really impressed with the content they provide and trying to help. Good video!

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, WakeUp. We used Silicone and honestly was planning on pulling it back and using Dicor to reseal everything. Although everytime I check it there are no cracks or anything that looks like it will break down soon. Probably just going to leave it for now rather then run the risk of pulling and tearing the roof.

    Hahaha, "what footprints, those aren't footprints". Ya'll should do a video of all the crazy things your kids have done and said living ful- time in an RV. Sure you have great stories of their antics. Love seeing the kids being goofy in the back ground while your filming. My seven year old thought it was awesome you took your house to the car wash. It gives us more hope as parents with three girls(7,4, 5mos.) that kids will be kids no matter where they live. Great video, look forward to seeing you replace the caulk on that cap surrounded by NC woods. Safe travels.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's funny you should say that - its been on the idea board for a while to do something like that. Haha. And yes, kids will be kids anywhere and they are super adaptable. Of course it has been raining since we got here so we haven't had a chance to really fix the cap yet. 🤞

    Bought a passport that seems like it had a leak like this. Soft spot on roof/ceiling and inside front wall seems to be water damaged. How does the water dry out once in? Seems like with the laminate wood the water may never dry out and keep spreading like cancer? Any suggestions?

    Don't be shy with caulking put it on thick. A water leak at your cap can destroy your RV. I use a dehumidifier in my RV that works great for keeping it dry inside. A dehumidifier will help dry out the water in your walls and ceiling and prevent mold mildew and rot.

General RV never mentioned at purchase time (our fault!) or would've made diff decision than 2021 Coachmen Apex Ultra Lite 31ft. Downsized from big, sturdy, older Class A Motorhomes. You should have used dicor, never use chalk it won't adhere to the roof.
    Also a couple pieces of pool noodles on the ladder will help protect the roof edge.

      You should never use silicone. When you do get the Dycor, it will not adhere to the trailer correctly. Please throw that silicone away.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Guys...in a pinch it worked. It does adhere to the plastic parts of the roof and even the previous applied sealent. Ideal? No. Did it stop the leak? Yes. I fully plan on scraping it off and using the dicor once it stops raining. Again, the stuff did the job I needed it to given the alternative of letting the leak continue. Improvise, adapt, and overcome.
