Welcome to North Cackalacky as you will hear some refer to it. Love your channel. We live in Winston Salem about 4 hours from where you guys are. I’m a new grad nurse (at 40, second career that I always wanted to do) and after getting some experience my hubby and I want to RV travel as well. We really appreciate your channel and it will be a huge help when we decide to travel. Hope you are all well and I hope you will enjoy our beautiful state. You are definitely in the best part of the state. At least my fav part. If we ever get back to normal I hope you will get to enjoy many of the great things Asheville has to offer like Biltmore house. Oooh, hello neighbor! We're in Vilas, about twenty minutes from Boone and two and a half hours from you!! My hubby is also a new RN, second career, and 40! He interviewed at one of the hospitals in WS but we just couldn't move and the drive was far. We're also working towards him becoming a travel nurse, us (me and our three daughters, two dogs) becoming the tag-alongs. NOP is our muse (no pressure guys) and every video inspire us that its possible. Asheville is beautiful, but lets give some applause to Winston-Salem. You guys are also pretty rocking.;)
Catherine Gilmore I’m so jealous I love Boone. We vacay there often. Daniel Boone Inn is the best! I’m glad to know I’m not the only old fart who went back to school...lol... it was rough for sure as I’m sure your hubby says also. I love this channel too. I’m amazed at anyone who can travel with kids. Mine are grown which makes it a lot easier to look at travel. Huge props to you guys for him going back to school with kids at home. I could not have done it I had to wait until they were grown to go back. That is awesome y’all made that work. Does your hubby have someplace he wants to work up there? Wilkes is owned by Wake now and pretty nice place now. Stay in touch it nice to meet new new nurses and their fams. ❤️
I was trying to get on at Brenner's. Currently ICU and never ever thought I'd be interested in peds but touring the facility I was impressed. Was offered a spot at Baptist in neuro but there isn't a moving package offered for new grads. And now, after finding this possibility I don't see us moving to WS.
Oh, don't you LOVE when God pokes you? I got chills when you read the prayer for truckers! I have had recent pokes that could only be God letting me know He hears and sees me, reminding me that all good things in HIS TIME, not mine. And to lean into HIS word in faith, if not always understanding. I am so blessed that my Sunday school class still meets every Sunday via phone conference and our pastor speaks via YT and FB. Joseph hiked the AT twice in his youth, and the charitable acts people did for those hikers they called trail magic, coming across someone grilling steaks to give out, cold beer in a creek, supplies waiting at a shelter. Sometimes those angels were there with a smile and word of encouragement, sometimes just a note. I think ya'll experienced some road magic. And a reminder that you are being lead, with an army of angels surrounding you. I hope the sun rising this morning in the magic of Asheville, and a good cup of coffee, make you all smile.
He has the best timing that's for sure! That's so great that your Sunday school class still meets virtually. I know we are all looking forward to connecting in person again. And as for the trail angels, the AT was our inspiration for calling good deeds on the road "RV Angels" or "RV Magic". One of our life goals/dreams is to thru hike the AT as a family. ❤
We’re so happy you made it safely to NC. It’s such a crazy time to travel right now. Man, that interaction with the folks at the truck stop brought tears to my eyes. God is good.

Love your videos. Thank you for sharing the trucker angel story. Not enough is said in this world about the GOOD people. We hear so much negative all around us. Thankful for my faith in GOD during all these crazy times. May HE keep you safe as you serve others.

When we drove across Texas, my husband couned a phrase. The sun has riz and the sun has set and we ain't outta Texas yet.

That's an awesome and very correct phrase... Years ago when the kids were all little, I loaded the whole family (6 of us) in the truck and took them on the road for a week on my Texas run.
We were held up in Brownsville Texas, so we went to San Padre Island for the 4th of July..
We left the next day and I decided to take the "long way" out of Texas so the kids could see more of the landscape... So.... I headed towards Texarkana Tx.... And 15hrs later we finally made it to Arkansas! 😱😱 NEVER AGAIN with little children lol! ***Side note*** No children died and yes, were still married🤣🤣
Took a minute for the wife and I to get why the boys were excited about the grass. Crack'n up!

Great video, guys. So glad you made it safe & sound without any issues. It’s so crazy that the rest areas are closed down. When we passed through to Reno, the drinking fountains were inaccessible, but the bathrooms were open. I feel for those folks who really need one!
What a blessing to find those angels on the road. It is heart warming to see some light shine in the dark times.
Yeah, it was so bizarre. Not all restrooms were closed but several were. I'm glad the truck stops were open and truckers seemed to be in good spirits - at least the ones I chatted with.
One of my former coworkers(I'm a retired RN) came down with Covid this past week. She works as an RN in ICU in York PA. Has been taking care of Covid patients for weeks. Praying for your family's safety and well being. The storm you went thru had us in the storm shelter for an hour and on edge for the rest of the night. The rivers are at flood level but we live in the low country of southeastern GA. Really enjoy your vids.

I know right?! They are much happier now that we are staying in a place they are allowed to explore. Someday those parks will be open again! We can't wait to find a skatepark and playground around here.

The road things could be speed traps. We truckers do a number of things with bathrooms right now. I personally keep a porta potty in my truck some guys use bottles we use truck stops and some rest areas are open for bathrooms. Food issue in truck stops and we also we carry food in truck some. That's nice of those people to do that some are still doing that off and on. We normally are mistreated and forgotten. Thank you John for your job too. Been driving 20 years

Music choices on this video. Hope new truck is doing a good job for you. One thing that failed to mention àbout your truck. Would be when driving in the mountains with cruise control on. It will often be be able to climb the grade without down shifting. Go ahead make down shift. That bring boost pressure down. Keeping boost lower will be easier on the engine. Looking forward to next video. Be safe.

I don't usually commit... But the ending just got me good!! and ironically I live near Chattanooga Tennessee also. I just had knee surgerybecause of falling on it right after the storms in Chattanooga, but I don't miss any of your videos.

Hi guys from lots Angeles, and I came across you guys from watching storms.
I love how you guys have become better off by going on road and traveling while you work, as I'm a freelancer myself.
Santa Monica was where I raised my kids, thg dream, but they been gone for years and I was an essential worker as well.
Because California is such a trashed state financially it made me leave to the border of LA county to Orange county because orange county was not acting
Like LA.
I too also plan to buy an Rv and just be a mobile freelancer. I understand storms from living twice in the south and many years ago nature taught me how to read weather.

I wish the government would let us “campers” operate the same way! This weekend will be our 3rd cancellation this year.
That's so frustrating. I'm sorry to hear that. We have been trying to get things booked for side trips but it turns out NC is pretty strict. The good news is, it seems like several states are starting to open back up slowly. Fingers crossed you don't have any more cancellations.

Music/Drone .Baby Girl & the Family tree swing. Follow Dad , & Moms potato Soup. Seeing them one week before the other was Powerful. Agian 5*s for 1st Responders.

We travel in our motorhome and we joined Good Sam Club and I used the card at all Pilot and Flying J truck stops saving 5 cents a gallon and dump fees were only $7.50 , wondering if you guys do that , and thanks for the information on carrying sealant and your amazon recommendations . We do have a Good Sams Club membership but we haven't used it a pilot or flying J. Thanks for the heads up! We usually scout free dump sites along our route through Campendium or Freecampsites.net. As far as fuel savings goes, we use a discount card (but I don't know what it's called - I'd have to ask John) that we can use at certain truck stops. We mostly stopped at Love's on our route.

Is there a reason why you are traveling with two trucks? Is it not possible to ride in one track while towing the trailer? Curious... Very nice vid by the way!
Hey guys, good question! So as a travel nurse I'm gone for the majority of the day that I'm working and I need to take a vehicle to work. We have the minivan so that Kristin wouldn't be stuck at home and could take the kids on homeschool field trips or just run to the store. Thanks for watching.
How many are essential? All of everyone. It sickens me to see people happy about having their "show me your papers please" for the ghestapo and wearing face masks. I am glad I have not participated in this baloney to this day: 9/24/2021. You were disappointed about not getting stopped at an illegal border patrol stop that is not on a border? That is sickening to hear. Wretched. So shameful to hear from an American. So sad. At about the 8:30 mark, your daughter is the only one with a rational head on her shoulders. Very, very sad.
