I don't support the Catholic Church but give them a little credit. Reducing people in the Middle Ages to insensible morons is ahistorical and rude, and promoting these kinds of misconceptions only breeds further misconceptions.
You can say the Earth is flat all you like, but don't claim that other people did too.
