Mostly French Revolution memes. But decent ones, not your typical "haha robespierre liked guillotines" nonsense.
When it's Thermidor and you need to find someone to blame for the entire reign of terror
oh shit, gotta find someone to scapegoat!

The intermission music from the Pioneer Laserdisc™ edition of the musical-turned-movie 1776 (1972). A pretty solid medley of the musical's soundtrack.

What a gift this is to stumble across after watching an old interview with the GREAT Mr. Albee. VERY grateful for the posting. William Daniels continues to amaze! The Graduate! Captain Nice. Now this!!! Not necessarily in that order...
THANK YOU!!!! I've been looking for this recording since college in the 80s.

Very good video. Robespierre was an adherent of the Enlightenment and a radical liberal. In the Revolution, he simply did what he believed was necessary to safeguard the Republic. And the Thermidor proved that his concerns were valid.
Will the Laserdisc and theatrical cuts be released on standard Blu-Ray? A 4K Blu-Ray transfer featuring these two versions along with the Director's Cut and Extended Cut was recently released.
That's one of the 3 disks in that edition
Why not release the Laserdisc cut on a stand-alone Blu-Ray so the consumer will not have to pay for a 4K Blu-Ray if she or he does not have a 4K Blu-Ray player?
4:18 my favourite.
This is the "full" album but certainly not the full TEXT of the original PLAY which was published in book form (not the original Acting Edition released through Dramatist's). Also included in the book was the debut of "Krapp'a Last Tape" by Sam Beckett. Most (probably ALL) theaters whether Equity, non-AEA or Community use the BOOK as text. It's actually what they used in both the 1959 world premiere in Berlin and the later American debut Off-Broadway in '60. Jerry's Dog Story monologue is six and a half pages in the book!! It's been absolutely NEUTERED here. Must have been an AEA decision, as they STUFF the coffers of Dramatist's. What a shame!
You can't fit more than an hour of audio on a vinyl record. It's plainly just a technological limitation of the 1960s, no need to be a pedant.

Wild how such amazing stuff was found in Ulster County.

ROAST HIM
Awesome
Why was this not on the DVD or Blu-Ray?
I'm assuming just because there was no need for it. With the laserdisc version, the disc would have to be flipped over or changed at some point, which sort of justifies including an intermission.
@@tinyrobespierre2151 bloody hell.
@@tinyrobespierre2151 Not necessarily. It was originally part of the original cut of the film that Peter Stone decided not to include in the Director's Cut thus why it didn't make it on the DVD/Blu-Ray
@@bradleyscarton3931 Sad - it appears that it will not be on the upcoming 4k release either.
A lovely piece of music but, as far as I know, created just for the laserdisc release, as the film had no intermission.
why doesnt this has more views this is SO ACCURATE
When you read out “guillotined without trial” on Max’s apartment plaque that was so painful to hear…
Hey! I really like your video on Robespierre not being a dictator, and I was wondering if you're in college studying history and how you make your videos! I want to make history videos too.
Hi! Thanks so much for your comment! I'm a college senior right now and a history major. As for how I make my videos, the main thing is just thinking of something to make, which only happens rarely, haha. For more essay-ish videos I just write a script and try to come up with visuals that I find funny (I'm not always as funny as I think I am, lol). I used to use Imovie to put it all together, but I had to get a new computer so I'm still learning the new program. Best of luck with everything you do!
Cool Robespierre Tribute👍👍😁..
I love this good job
As a Belgian, having grown up and educated in Leuven, I studied much of this history. What a tumultuous period it was. The personal letters shed yet another light on the players of the period. Having lived in Ulster County for many decades this was a nice surprise. Thank you for your great work.
What about a band called Post Toothbrush Water that would be pretty cool
😂😂👍 your channel is so cool keep going❤❤😊🙋
WoW! Amazing! How did you both get the letters? Interesting story!
Dear David, Professor Christensen, What a fantastic presentation on Comte D'Artois........a member of the French Royal Family and his letters during the French Revolution You did a fabulous job and worked tirelessly on translating all 75 letters from our collection and .....bring them to life with your artful, scholarly, and witty descriptions, slides, cartoons et al. Enthralled with your history and lighthearted description so that all can enjoy a piece of the past! And have a laugh at the famous but poignant and timely French phrase: "The more things change...the more they remain the same"! "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose". Eric and I are so grateful for both you and Professor Christensen ......and for your adopting this project! Congratulations David on receiving Grants toward your long Spring and Summer .........working on the translations. You do SUNY New Paltz University and us proud! Thank you, Roger Ross & Eric Bongartz

About French movies on the revolution, by now I'm sure you've seen "La caméra explore le temps: la terreur et la vertu" by Stellio Lorenzi with the magnificent Jean Negroni. And you were surprised ;D
I feel you, man and I'm French 😂 For real, Robespierre's biggest crime was that he didn't punch Fouché in the face when he still could.
Any good books on Robespierre?
