- Come on in out of the cold and have a slice of warm pie! Today Justine has made a delicious apple pie. We are celebrating the 1 year anniversary of Mish Mish coming into our lives. We give him food for the rest of his life and all that we ask in return is to be able to pet him sometimes. Sounds fair right? Let's also tally up the votes from last weeks Nutcracker competition!

Humans don't pick out cats! Cats pick out the humans they want to live with😂
My spoiled babies agree!
😁😁😁
Congratulations on the one year anniversary of Mish Mish coming into your lives! There's nothing else on this Earth like having a loving, loyal pet! 😊
Hi Justine. I’d love to buy some of your homemade candles. I left you a message on your Facebook page on messenger.
And he is beautiful! Truly! I’ve never had a black cat, but after seeing Mishmish, when (hopefully in many years) we get another to replace our girl, I think I will look for a black one!✌️♥️
@@justkiddin84go to s shelter. Lots of black cats and dogs are overlooked 😔
When I was a kid we had two crabapple trees in our front yard. We got a TON of crabapples from those trees, and my mom used them.
She'd make crabapple jams, jellies, and pancakes syrup with them. She also stewed and canned some - and would use the canned crabapples in all kinds of dishes...From crabapple relish to mixing crabapples and cranberries into a turkeys stuffing. She also would bake hams with crabapples and pineapples on it... The flavor was AMAZING!!
I wish I would have written down her recipes, but when you're a kid you don't think of thins like that, and my mom didn't write them down. When she cooked or baked she rarely used any kind of recipe, but created meals, snacks, and desserts from scratch.
Anyway crabapples can be used in all kinds of dishes... They are incredibly flavorful and are a great ingredient to use in a sweetly tart and savory dishes. They were mom's secret ingredient in some of her dishes.
You guys should have your own PBS Children's Show; you'd be naturals at it.
My two favorite patriots! You make my day! ❤❤😊
Hi Kerri! 😊
@@EarlyAmerican hey I sent a letter to you and you guys asked if I sent two letter and my answer is kinda my sis made one an I made one mine is tias a and my sis is Tatum sorry for the confusion
MishMish found you because he knew you would love him, care for him and he would be safe! We lost our rescue ginger Brandon last May to FIV complications. Neighbors left him outside for over 10 years so he found us. We adopted a rescue little girl from Louisiana. Local shelter brought her up to be adopted. That cow wants you to adopt her ❤ 😊
Justine I love your Red White and Blue!
After a stressful day, there’s nothing like watching early American to relax and then hop over to frontier patriot for a relaxing chat. Thank you both! ❤
Hi guys
It’s Wednesday night with my favourite people 🙏🙏🙏❤
I have sent your card from down under. Cheers
WOW!! Cant wait to get it! Thankyou!!
We grew an apple tree from a seed. It produced Granny Smith type apples for several years but we don’t get cold enough weather for long enough so it stopped producing. We were amazed that it actually grew.
Here in the South of France people graft orange branches on to lemon trees & therefore get oranges & lemons on the same tree. It astounded me when I first saw it ! As for Dolly (or brisket 😂), perhaps you could report her to the local police station ?
The wooden bowl you made the crust in reminded me of my great aunt's "biscuit bowl", a wooden bowl with flour that she would make a well in the middle, add other ingredients, whip out biscuits for every meal! She would then cover the bowl with a cheese cloth and return it to the Pie safe till the next meal. Those were special memories... they had no electricity, but did have an indoor water pump 😊 Another interesting fact...she cooked on a wood burning cook stove, with no thermometer...but she intuitively knew when the temperature was just right!
Cute how Justine switches the word Variety to Viarety. Thought it was a mistake the first time but then she said it again! 🤣💖
Hot apple pie with a scoop of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. Nothing better.
Yes!
Something magical about Apple pie baking and filling the air with delicious aromas!
In Pompeii, they found a cast of a dog struggling to get free of its chain when the volcano erupted. On his collar, I believe, was an inscription telling how the dog once saved its owner's life from an attacking bear.
Wow, never knew you could get pectin from crab-apples and I’ve had mature tree in my backyard all these years! Thank you! The apples are so hard and bitter but the fuchsia pink blossoms in the spring are so beautiful! Justine, please do a video on how you boil down, collect and store the pectin! Or do you store the apples over winter and boil it in spring/summer when berries are ready for jam making? Please do a video on this! 🙏🏼 Would love to learn more!
I remember last year's Chew and Chat about Mish Mish.We had over a year ago Oct 4 th of 2022 a stray cat on your porch. It was skin and bones it used to be a outside cat now it is a indoor cat she is called Misty Rain plus we added 3 more cats to collection. Like the info on grafting trees. My father-in-law knowrs about grafting trees.David Back.
Justine you and Ron are so sweet together , Many blessings for the future ❤
Aw 1 year anniversary with the little Mishmish! ❤😊😺
It is early in the morning and I have my coffee. Hope you have yours. Sending love from ireland. Cee from the little haunted cottage in ireland 💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀🎄🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
Re: nutmeg and its taste, keep in mind that freshly grated whole nutmeg is a noticeably different taste than pre-grated nutmeg sold in a jar.
Yay! Homemade apple pie! I’m trying to eat what’s on the freezer home so I can organize in the new year!
congratulations, i pray you two enjoy your wedding and married life together. I pray that God will bless you and yours.
I remember my grandmother picking sweet William blossoms and putting them in her clothes for a perfume.
5:35-"You better choose wisely what you're about to say." Best quote ever 🤣
Apple pie perfume, yes!!! lol
I always look forward to spending chewchat time with yall. Happy "fur baby anniversary." I just adore Mishmish, so glad he adopted yall 😻
Hope yall make lots of sales this weekend. Love yall❤❤
Mish Mish is a gorgeous cat. You guys have been taking such great care of him. His coat is so shiny and beautiful.
You can also graft citrus oranges with lemons 🍋 🍊🍏🍎
What a delightful couple you are! 💞 Thank you for brightening my day!
Such a cute cat. I love beeswax candles.
My. Great uncle had what he called a fruit cocktail tree. He grftedfive different fruits on one main tree.
That pie looks amazing. I love simple recipes when you can taste all the ingredients. Mish Mish is too cute. ❤ Thank you for your channel. I love your videos
Can we buy some of your candles? I’d love a pair. Also does Ron still have coloring books??
I'm hoping she will sell them online 🙏
Yes!! Thank you for saying that nutmeg tastes like soap! I totally agree. I can't do pumpkin spice or eggnog due to the nutmeg!!
When i was a young wife in the 80s, my elderly neighbor taught me to make apple pies with an apple variety called 20 ounce. They are a good texture for pie, they don't get too soft when baked and are a nice balance between tart and sweet. Also, they are very large apples so you have to peel and slice fewer of them.
I would suggest using two or more different varieties of apples in a pie: sweet, tangy, firm, flavorful.
You can make jelly out of the crab apples, too...and the color is incredible! And don't forget syrup! Mom used to make it & it was very nice.
Happy Gotcha Day Mish Mash🎉 My son rescued his cat much the same way. She was so skinny her tail looked like a rat. She had 15 wounds on her back but the first night she jumped in bed with him. Took her to Vet the next day. She’s the absolute sweetest Siamese mix.
Awww, so happy she found a wonderful and loving home. Did the vet have any idea where all the wounds came from? Hopefully, she’s feeling better.
@@lordessducky8494 It must have been an animal. That was almost 11 years ago. She has lived in the lap of luxury ever since!
No psychological tricks on the poll, Ron’s was simply a better looking nutcracker. The green was great.
What color are Mish Mish's eyes? I know silly question, I am making yall something 😂 I'm Melissa BTW, we love your channels and watch you often, on our TV, I don't comment that much, but our while family loves watching you all!
Ron, your dad sounds like a hoot. That apple pie looks amazing.
I am going to visit ste Genevieve before I die!!!! You 2 are amazing. These videos ALWAYS bring a smile to my face. Yall are adorable. Thank yall so much. ❤
My BFF was good at making fantastic food out of random stuff. You'd look in her cupboard & think, "Uh...nuthin' to eat..." & she'd come up w/ a 3 course meal! You can do it, Justine!❤
You might be surprised. I live southern Ontario Canada. We planted a 5’ delicious tree spring 2023 and picked 8 or nine 21/2” diameter give or take beauties this past summer. They tasted amazing. I was really surprised. Great videos. 🥂
I once had an apple tree that had five different apples on one root stock. After several years, the apples all became sorta the same. In the beginning though, they were red, yellow, green and even different shape characteristics
Loved hearing about Marquette! Here in upper peninsula of Michigan is the city of Sault Ste. Marie developed by Marquette & Joliet as one of oldest European cities in the United States west of the Appalachian Mountains, and the oldest permanent European settlement in Michigan
“Please buy my nunchucks, I mean candles” 🤣🤣 Justine is hilarious!
Happiness in Your Nose, Ron said it Right. I can imagine how good your Room Smells 😊
I can't help but think those wild apples are probably really healthy for you, bitter to the tounge is good to the liver...
Hi that pie looks great! I have found that eating apples are good to use and there's no need to add sugar!
For apple pie I prefer Cortland and then Baldwin apples.
Have Ron try lactose free milk 2%, it’s a game changer!
I really love seeing both of you together. You both always make my day. Your really great parents too, Mish Mish, Alfred and chickens you both are beautiful people 😊❤.
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY TO MISHMISH 🐈⬛ 🐾🥰❤️
Mish Mish is my favorite new thing about this channel, can't believe it's been a year already! ❤❤❤
Good to see you guys . I wish you could have more than one video a week. How could we buy your candles? Love you guys
Can you guys please do a Q & A chew and chat video 🙂
Greetings from Montana 😊👋 what a “cozy” chat this evening…really a nice enjoyable conversation with you two 😊 Good luck 🍀 with your sales at the Fort! I think you are going to do better than you think 😊 please take some video for us!! Have a blessed evening! 😊❤🇺🇸😊❤🇺🇸🍀🍀🍀
We live in a log cabin with 3 cats to hunt our mice 😊🐭
Hey Justine,
I put dry oatmeal on the inside of the crust before filling and baking my apple pie. Just an idea: works for me and prevents juice from making the pie soggy.
Nutmeg is really strong to me. There’s very few things that nutmeg is good in, homemade egg nog and old fashioned glazed donuts, that’s about it for me.
We have three apple trees that are volunteers. One is a crab apple and they are delicious. When mowing the lawn, I stuff my shirt pockets full and eat them while mowing. Another tree has large green apples that aren’t as tart as a granny smith. We use them for pies and kuchens . The third tree produces a mottled red/yellow apple that is a little softer and makes great apple sauce and apple butter.
I can't think of anything much more cozy & secure than being safe & warm in front of a nice fire on a cold day. Bonus points for a hot beverage & a good book! ❤ I've made pie crust w/ whole wheat before. Healthier & works well. I just love Macintosh apples for everything. So-oo good!
Ron gave a good score and Justine decided he could live another day. 😆
I love the cooking challenge idea!
Courtland apples for the win, mother has never used anything else. Congrats on the win Ron! Great video thanks for sharing 👍
Congratulations on Mish Mish! 😊 Something to note is that handpoured candles are about $15-20 per pair for taper beeswax candles. If you need more money, perhaps consider the cost of materials and an estimate on labor costs. For example, you pay yourself $10/hr, and I spent 1 hour making 10 candles so each candle has $1 cost in labor. This os something I usually see overlooked at craft fairs...love the history! ❤
It was the detail on the drum that swang the vote for Ron I think 😊
I love both nut crackers!!!! Both of you are winners!!!! I need to start collecting them !!!
You two are so wholesome, and your energy is delightful.
I hope you both have a lovely day.
Sending love, light, and positive energy from my home to yours.
Happy 1 year anniversary to Mish Mish❤🥰🐈⬛
Justine! You make pie crust look so easy! Makes me want to make a pie right now. Like you, I love apple desserts. Thanks for the tip about the apples. I will try Jonathon apples next time for sure.
If we send you your way...wait...If you send them your way...lol XOXO
Won’t make the live stream tonight but will catch the replay! Congrats Ron looks like you won the Nutcracker contest! Also just put my Xmas card in the mail to you both today! 🎄😊
Where do y’all live??? Back east or in Missouri? We have a festival here in KCMO. It’s the Missouri Town Fall Festival. Ok, St. Genevieve!! Got it!! It’s a 1830’s old town where all the buildings that have been moved to the park. My family goes to it every year!!!
Oh, a chopped version of an old fashioned receipt, Justine can do it!!! It would terrify me but Justine’s got this.
I would love to have a cabin kitchen like you have!! I’m a 66 years old man living south of Kansas City Mo. I married my wife 45 years ago who was a spoiled only child who never learned to cook so I’m it in the kitchen. My Mom was a wonderful cook and taught me so much when I was a young kid. Love your videos!!!❤
Love handmade wooden items. I'd probably buy a box, Ron! Have a website? P.S. you two crack...me...up! Nunchucks🤣🤣🤣. P.S.S.Hope you survive Ron's toot-fest, Justine.😉
I am enjoying your many videos! I have one question. Why did you paint the inside of your cabin white? Thank you!!
Another older video from December 2023 love the pie and yes I can see the steam coming off of it!! I love making homemade apple pie and in a couple weeks here in WV I’ll be going all over our county picking apples off trees!! Love my apples in all receipts!!
Good to see you both looking nice your place looks very beautiful ❤️ colorful looks like Xmas I would like to buy candles but need to know how, I live in Texas
LOOOOOOOVE nutmeg. Won‘t have mashed potatoes or creamed cooked veggies without it…
I remember Ron's eggnog making video. He said it was Martha Washington's receipt.
There was a crab apple tree is Washington DC.... I ate so many I got sick
That's the way granny showed me how to make apple pie. CHOPPED/ Early American...I would so watch that, lol.
I was a horticulturist, and when I worked at my last nursery, I got to learn and do alot of grafting, it's fascinating how plants can be grafted. 😊
Justine just saw your meme so funny, loved the McDonald's episode sorry about the Turkey love yall.
I’m really enjoying your channel, thank you! On your explanation of grafting you were mostly correct. You can only graft plants from the same species to one another and all you do is splice a branch to a good rootstock and line up the cambium layers and wrap them to prevent from drying out.
Good job picking out new servants, Mish Mish!
Happy Anniversary Mish Mish 🐈❤..I own black cats(siblings)that I saved off the street, in our neighborhood😊
Exactly! Granny Smith used to hold their shape. Not sure why they don’t anymore. I love Honeycrisp or Fugi for pie.
You two are so cute and refreshing. I love your happiness! Congratulations on your engagement. Love your show!
My parents loved Apple pie with cheddar cheese . I voted for Justine . Good luck with whatever Ron comes up with !!!! Hope you have a great day and stay safe and warm ! ❤️🎄💚🌨️🎄🥶🌨️🧊🎁❄️🦌🎅☃️⛄🤶🎁
Jonathan’s are good apples. We grow Jonagolds and they are good. But for pie we recommend Ida Reds. They are not the prettiest but they make good pies. (I work on my Uncle’s produce farm. We grow 11-15 varieties of apples. And 26 varieties of peaches.
Love your Frontier Patriot nunchucks, Justine...hai-YAH! 💥🤕
Yes! Apple seeds give you a hybrid apple! All apple varieties have been made by hybrids which are then cultivated over years.
There are grafted trees which have been made which produce dozens of fruits!
Also, my sympathies on that GLASS OF MILK Ron drank! 😷
Spitzenburg apples were the favorite apple of Thomas Jefferson. I've eaten a pickled crabapple once, but it was only fair, imho.
I personally think Honeycrisp are absolute King for apple pie. My wife disagrees but this one time I'm right.
I agree with Justine. Johathan apples are my favorite. Best all round apple. Good for cooking and eating!
MISH MISH, IS JUST A, VOCAL KITTY. SOME CATS, ASWELL AS, PEOPLE LIKE TO TALK ALOT. LOVE APPLE PIE, W/SCOUP OF VANILA ICE CREAM, (ALAMODE). Do take care. Fl.
I hope you got my Christmas 🎄 card! Sending ❤from Fort Pierce Florida . Pie looks amazing!
