  • Today a sprawling suburb of Houston, Cypress, Texas traces its roots back to a railroad town of German immigrants in the 1800s. Cypress Top Historical Park is an agglomeration of several important historic buildings from the town nestled in the original townsite.

I used to live East of Cypress on Spring- Cypress Rd. I lived about 4 miles west of Spring which is on l-45 .lt goes from Gaveston, through Houston and changes in Dallas to US75.
In the early '70s, you could see big buck deer off of Spring-Cypress.
Now it's housing development after housing development along that 20 mile road.

I grew up off barker cypress in the early 2000’s. Even 20 years ago, we would see deer all the time. Insane how much it’s boomed with growth since then.

    4:05 barber shop
in the 80's the gas station was a full service Exxon if I remember right.
prosperity bank has a bunch of old pictures from the 10's - 20's.
it's kind of surreal to know there is museum of the places we went to when I was a kid.

Seems like the Germans own most of Texas. I live in San Antonio now in 2021. German names are on many streets, buildings et al.

Well done! For future reference, Humble Oil and Humble, TX are pronounced "umble." If you want to go completely old school native, Houston is pronouced Youston. LOL!

Nice video! Don’t fret on folks’ idea of how to properly pronounce city names and landmarks. Life’s too short for that nonsense.
