@@Morbid.Angel710 my uncle has also told me too they got a lot of inspiration from black sabbath and a lot of the stoner rock bands in that genre. cool to see them up there with some of my own personal favorite bands
Funny that High on Fire did a set at Amoeba SF around the same time. It was during the day while I was still in high school otherwise I woulda been there. Love all of these guys, they've spent their lives dedicated to the music without a single fucking compromise.
Yes, I grew up listening to metal and in a strict Christian family, so for me Metal was very banned. Fast forward to my adult years, OM takes me this spiritual place I’ haven’t went to in a long time.
Man, it is such a shame that Chris retired. He was a huge part of the Sleep sound. Jason is an awesome drummer, but the raw energy Chris brought to the table is gone.
i wish there are more interviews of om, its refreshing to hear a band give genuine no bullshit answers and it is certainly refreshing to hear an interviewer ask interesting and stimulating questions that shed light on an angle of the band we might not have known about. "no there aren't different songs in that place" heavy shit
Nomad13 I keep coming back to this interview just to hear that line. it seems just like a statement but it really is deep when you keep thinking about it
dunno, guess he wanted to spend time w/fam. plus I read he drives trucks or something. either way, he still plays w/sleep so I doubt there was any drama or anything like that
Really just discovering these guys on youtube... the music really resonates. If anyone here has time, please check out my new project The Chip Buddhas, nowhere near as heavy sonically, but comes from a similar place spiritually. Thanks!
I think he's always stoned! I saw him on stage last September in Turin (Italy). He asked the audience not to applaud at the end of the songs. He didn't even played an encore. seemed to be in a bad mood, probably additives that he had taken were not of good quality ...
Chris Hakius is my uncle
Your uncle is a great musician.
Your uncle is highly appreciated and loved in the Stoner/Doom metal community! Amazing drummer!
@@Morbid.Angel710 thanks man!
@@seinmstudio3646 i really appreciate it!

al is somehow both chill and super intense at the same time.
Thank you Al for taking us all to the Holy desert Exodus caravan at some point.
Thebes is soo good!
God is good!
Been listening to Om nonstop lately again...Especially Thebes ..what a masterpiece
I always felt like they turned into one being when they played with eachother. They were so tight. That level of chemistry is extremely rare.
"the music scene in a town is a living biosphere" spot on man.
Jesus Christ that bit of Al picking up the bass is like seeing King Arthur pick up his excalibur or some shit

I love how they're still both tripping hard lol.
Is it just me or does anyone get a godly godly euphoric chemical release when you hear OM?
Yes, I grew up listening to metal and in a strict Christian family, so for me Metal was very banned. Fast forward to my adult years, OM takes me this spiritual place I’ haven’t went to in a long time.
@@elnerfe8191 i can absolutely relate to this.
Same
dont you get that any time you listen to music you really like?

There are not enough comments to this.
It's funny how awkward and uncomfortble they look doing this interview after performing like freaks on stage.
Yeah because they were obviously high as fuck on shrooms
@@BULLETSTEAK i guessed acid
Damn, every time I play an om song on my laptop, the screen starts opening and closing to the beat of the song. Doesn't do that with any other band.

Sleep, Kyuss, and Om. Badass music and ethereal music.

Bro, every time I open an OM song my computer slows right down, but for every other song it works fine!
Yes, they were Sleep's rhythm section .
Why would Matt Pike dislike this, he still plays in Sleep.
Amazing Artists, Om is a great Project
Only musicians would know that "niche".
yeah thanks for uploading this
thank you for this man.
My computer just blue screened when I tried to open two Om youtube video tabs.
Not sure what to make of this.
Yep, 2/3 of Sleep.
whoa...thanks man.
yep, emil amos is the drummer in om now. chris is still playing for the sleep reunion tour though

Looks like Al is stoned
Is Al slim or fat? I've seen footage of both and both forms are from diffrent periods
what is the song that starts 2.00?
yeah seriously. and it sounds just like the Amoeba footage - WAS THERE MORE TUNES THAT WE DIDNT HEAR/SEE??????
Flight of the eagle
Its just slowed down clips of the amoeba with other live versions their songs
Its some live version of "Thebes" not sure from where exactly but it shakes my bones and Love it!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
