    Glad to see someone else picked one up too! I got mine 6 months ago off of Sweetwater. Really wish these things got more love and attention. It's definitely one of the more interesting Rickenbacker's ever made, and people just don't know about it. I am curious though as to how these things are priced and how that works. Because I got mine for $2650 from Sweetwater, and I still got to choose which one I wanted from the 5 of them listed on the website at the time. So I'm curious who prices these things :/ But I'm glad you got one!!

      Hell yeah, another fellow bass player with excellent taste! I 100% agree with you, its not very often the Rickenbacker releases a unique model like this, much less of one of my personal favorite bass players. As far as the pricing goes, I believe what I ended up paying ($3399) is the full MSRP from Rickenbacker, and you and a handful of other folks got a killer deal on one when Sweetwater was needing to move the stock they had (I'm jealous! lol). I wanted to make sure I got one though since it seems there is a handful of folks over on sites like Reverb that will snag up as many as they can and scalp them for crazy prices. I've seen recent, completed sales for the 4003AC for as much as $5,500+, which if the bass was truly out of production I guess I'd understand, but not if brand new ones are still available.

      @@GeezyBass Oh yeah, the second hand market for these guys is a warzone. I'm never selling mine, I love this bass, but it's fun to see the price wiggle up. I'm glad you got one when you did, I have a feeling production on this thing is coming to an end!

      I bought one from Sweetwater in the past month and paid $2999. Because not all of the basses have the same weight (some are lighter and some are heavier), most people selected the lighter ones. I pick the heaviest one they had since they is more sustain. Awesome bass man. I own 3 Rickenbackers, a 4001 from 1999, a 90th anniversary semi-hollow bass and this one. They are all so unique!

    Dude, thanks for pointing me in the right direction to the right seller for this bass since I almost spent more for a used version of this bass (with a big ass dent in it.) Much appreciated. Thanks again!

    • @GeezyBass
      @GeezyBass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the resellers are nuts right now. And it's only gonna get worse for these. I saw, I think it was last week, that Rickenbacker just finished the last 10 of the Al Cisneros model run, so no more new ones are getting made. I'm glad you got one!

    • @strongbad666
      @strongbad666 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeezyBassEven better was of the six or seven Sweetwater had, they let me pick the weight of which one I wanted so I went with the heaviest since that will have the most sustain. I'll have to upload of a video of it when I get it.

    Fricken beautiful. If I didn’t need a 5 string for our tuning I would have to sell what ever positions I have to get this bass. The 5 string Rick’s just don’t do it for me so I got the Jackenbacker which gave me 5 strings and the best parts of a rickenbacker. Definitely doesn’t sound as bad ass as this Rick nor any other for that matter

    • @GeezyBass
      @GeezyBass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I've been looking at one of those Jackenbackers myself, they look really nice. I selfishly wish they'd make them with reverse headstocks though, lol. Would you say it'd be worth trying to grab one to do a comparison video?

    • @hottotty13
      @hottotty13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeezyBass it would be an interesting video though it sounds nothing like a Rick. It basically sounds like a really hot P bass. Pretty unruly. I ended up putting Lace pick ups in it to calm it down and though it did work I got a G&L L-1000 while I was waiting and I think it may have ruined active preamp basses for me. If Rickenbacker should make a 5 with shark fin inlays and OG Rick bindings I’d still pick one or two of them up for sure. That Al bass is a master piece though 💚

      Any idea what strings and gauges AL uses ? I’m not a fan of the stock Rickenbacker strings I can’t find any information anywhere

    • @GeezyBass
      @GeezyBass  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly have no clue, everywhere I've looked doesn't ever mention specific strings/gauges. I'd recommend going with whatever brand you prefer in either a .105 or .110 gauge to help with downtuning to C standard. Whenever I get around to changing the strings on mine, I'll probably just throw some Rotosounds on like I normally do, lol.

    Nice video! What strings are you using for C standard?

    • @GeezyBass
      @GeezyBass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I'm stilll using the stock Rickenbacker .105-.045's that came with it, lol. I'll probably be throwing a set of Rotosounds on there when the strings finally need changing, but the same gauges.

    • @Kingvvolf
      @Kingvvolf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know… I was reading that Rickenbacker only recommends those gauges and there’s no info I could find as to what gauges AC uses.

    • @GeezyBass
      @GeezyBass  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kingvvolf I have searched high and low for what strings/gauges he uses, and have never found any sort of info either.

    • @willthomas3122
      @willthomas3122 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeezyBass I would imagine that Al plays with heavier gauge strings because he always downtunes to C. The bigger gauges help balance out the tension at lower tunings so the strings aren't too floppy.
