I really like your positive attitude when travelling to strange places. Most people would have said "oh no this station is huge and I can't read the signs". Instead you go "this is a huge station, this is exciting!". I'm the same way when I travel.. unless I'm short of time of course.

I admire such a person very much. Because I always wear shoes that are very painful to walk. If I encounter this kind of difficulty, I will be a little broken.
But it also depends on the situation. I spend most of my spare time, and I can take my time to solve the problem of how to get out of the station. Go slowly and look for it, but it also depends on the number of people at that station. If many people are crowded, my mood will also become annoying.🥹

@@maxyang7919 Hello from Texas. I rldon't want to give a bad impression of my fellow Texans or Americans, but I will say that people in general will believe what the corporate controlled media tells them. I was middle aged in the last quarter of 2001 before I began questioning everything I had been taught to believe. It is difficult to break out of the imposed delusions because everything in society is geared toward reinforcing the propaganda. I have to say that videos like these, produced by Westerners are going a long way toward opening the minds of people inclined to believe the propaganda produced by Western corporate media and governments. I also follow and share videos by Little Chinese Everywhere (She is precious), and other Chinese video producers who show life in China. We just have to chip away at the imposed prejudices. I am very hopeful that the Belt and Road, and Brics alliances will overtake the archaic militarism of the West. ✌️❤️🙏

The red color on the train station’s big screen, displaying the schedule, might not necessarily imply something negative. In the Chinese cultural contexts, red is often seen positively, like in stock graphs where it means gain rather than loss. Though the reasons might differ here, in the setting of a time schedule screen, red could be used for visibility or emphasis rather than indicating something bad.

    • @seanfish17

The leaf that wraps the pork is Ruoye, which generally refers to the leaves of the family Gramineae, Bamboo subfamily, and the genus Ruozi. It looks like a small banana leaf. Chinese people use this leaf to wrap traditional rice dumplings, pork and many other foods for cooking, because the leaf has a unique aroma and can blend well with food. In addition to Ruo leaves, people in China also use leaves from plants such as banana leaves and lotus leaves to wrap various foods for cooking.

You may want to consider going back to China, maybe visit Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan or some other provinces that might interest you. China has many interesting landscapes and peoples of diverse ethnicities (esp in Xinjiang and Yunnan). Avoid the hassle and cost that comes with visa-free travel to China. China allows perm unilateral visa-free travel for ONLY 3 countries - Singapore, Brunei & Japan. So it's a good time to go back during that limited period and explore more.

After 3 years trapped in Australia during covid, it took a while to learn some new apps when I came back to Shanghai, for example, 大都会 for Metro. China is already cashless country, foreigners first time come to China will face difficult situations. By the way, we also pay by tapping the cards in Australia, quite convenient, unfortunately I can't use Apple-pay because of my Huawei phone.

Shanghai is my hometown and it's a very modern city, combined with old and new things. China is such a big country with so much ethnicity, SO it means the view and your experiences will be so different in other cities. Even I have only travelled 30%(maybe) of the country. This country may have many things that make your first impression awful, such as eating weird things, CCTV cameras every where, etc. But I wanna say it's safe for people to travel here and visit different views. I'm not such knowledgeable about all these cities, but if you come to Shanghai and you want to experience local things, I can guarantee you that I can be a good guide. (because I walked a lot for my photography projects)

Lanterns originated in China more than 2,000 years ago during the Western Han Dynasty. Lanterns are an ancient traditional handicraft of the Han nationality. After thousands of years of development, lanterns have developed different regional styles, each with a unique form of artistic expression. Every year around the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month, people hang up red lanterns symbolizing reunion to create a festive atmosphere.
Lanterns combine painting, paper-cutting, paper-tying, sewing and other techniques, and are closely connected with the daily life of Chinese people. Lanterns have become a symbol of happiness for the Chinese people. We Chinese not only use and make lanterns during many festivals, but we also use white lanterns during funeral ceremonies.

Especially for the Chinese Lunar New Year, red lanterns are hung in every house. Just like in Christian countries, people decorate Christmas trees in their homes during Christmas.

Like other ancient town attractions, the food inside is all the same, like fast food with a local style. They are not authentic. Locals don't eat there either. But if you're short on time, there's no other choice. With more time to explore outside the scenic area, in the living circle of the locals, there are many more classic delicacies that even people living in the city center would come for.

Normally, the traditional market is outdoor, or in an open area. The pricing is much more cheaper then in a supermarket, But, of cos outdoor market only have vegetables, meat, or some other dry food.

I thouroughly enjoy your vids. You do a great job of adjusting to foreign cultures.

No pollution. The water here comes from Dianshan Lake, one of the largest lakes in China. It used to be a water source for Shanghai and was known for its production of fish, shrimp, and crabs. In the 1980-1990s, industrial development caused a decline in water quality, but in the early 2000s, the government took strong measures to control pollution. Although it has not yet fully recovered to a drinkable state, there is no significant pollution anymore. To the north of Dianshan Lake, there is Shanghai's largest water sports center where athletes train in activities such as sailing and rowing. You don't have to worry at all.
